No problem. I had some people ask me to write one so i decided if i was going to do it I was going to do it right.
I figured that not enough people from my meta would be reading this so i decided to go a little more in depth to give you guys exactly how i felt about specific decks and how to make them better, which is how a lot of writers DONT do it. Normally they explain the list and end it at that. I wanted to give you guys my opinion to make them better. You decide if its right or wrong.
thanks for commenting/reading and hope to see more in the future

If we had breeding pool completely different story. I would NOT be advocating GW midrange at all. it would be Bant. But unreliability to cast it is hard.
I can see using Farseek over Arbor elf but then your losing turn 2 geist, and imo the best Farseek deck is Jund (for aggressive ish decks) so your just behind... -
Oct 4, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!I actually changed the Junk list to GW, as I was noticing some patterns in the Junk list:Posted in: DXI-Edge Blog
1) double white was hard.
2) single black was even harder
3) having both, while it did happen, didn't happen often.
The list relied a lot on going Overgrown tomb into Pilgrim, turn 2 Chapel/Sunpetal.
So I cut out the black, switched Decay to Charm and streamlined the deck and its much more consistent while still having removal. The lack of Sever sucks, but having 3 Charms for trample over lingering souls tokens helps.
I tried Vault over Gavony, but the deck's dorks did literally nothing late game. The deck liked having a mana sink that made your guys bigger, and 90% of the time the list out raves other decks anyway
Duress I'm not sure about
As for a list, GW midrange is powerful, UW Humans is good. Either I would be fine with. I'm working on. 3rd Rampy list right now but that won't be revealed till after provincials
Good luck! -
Sep 25, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!I haven't found a good Jund Midrange deck to test against yet. I know there is one and i know its good but what it is i dont know yet, so thats why i didnt talk about it much.Posted in: DXI-Edge Blog
However, thank you and i do agree that it is, until breeding pool comes out in which case turn 2 geist could be a thing -
Sep 23, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on RTR Brewing Part 2!Bonfire is gonna decrease in Popularity due to not being insane vs. Zombies. Its still good, and will see play, but not as much as it does nowPosted in: DXI-Edge Blog
Thragtusk is an important card yes i will admit that
Lingering Souls will also be good but if it gets too good Sever, Detention Sphere will run around the format.
For the entrance to the metagame, my 3 cards WILL be the format. As the metagame evolves, Lingering Souls and Thragtusk will become 2 more pillars -

Please go back up to 22 lands. Im gonna say go up to 23, but with Sign in Blood you MAY be able to afford 22, but 23 is optimal. 20 is WAY too few for a 3 colour deck, and you want 4 on turn 4 for Aristocrat anyway, so please go up to 23.
4 of Rancor, and so many red spells is asking for disaster, You need to slim down on the non-black spells, or move to a more midrange style.
PLAY DREG MANGLER! its insane and is an auto- 4 of in ALL zombie decks from here on out. I'm even playing it in Junk (see next blog post)

Second, not OVERLY. I think Junk midrange will actually be better due to having Green turn 1 more often while having other colours too (Temple Garden, Overgrown Tomb) Most of the good midrange decks I've played play Turn 1 dork to accelerate into the mid game bomb creatures.
The Junk deck I'm trying to build but there are so many variables for it its tough at the moment. however that is where i will be headed next.
Also, if more Rakdos cards are spoiled that are awesome, I'm probably also brewing Grixis Control. i edited that into the Blog.

May 13, 2012DXI-Edge posted a message on AVR First ImpressionsThanks, Lavamancer is actually not better than Vexing Devil. Trust me we've tried. The deck is all about speed and the fact that Vexing Devil can help you to deal 9 damage in a turn is hugePosted in: DXI-Edge Blog

I dont run Wear // Tear. I dont like it as an answer to Stony Silence, as its not able to be cast easily
I could see cutting a spellskite for an Ancient Grudge honestly, as a lot of Merfolk decks bring in Spellskite and they have Vial as well.
I havent played the matchup in a while so I could see this.
Not sure how I feel about Spellskite in the matchup though. I will cut the Welding Jar for Dispatch for sure and go from there.

3 Ancient Grudge

2 Etched Champion
Here is how I was going to sideboard this weekend:
vs Affinity
-2 Etched Champion
-1 Galvanic Blast
+3 Ancient Grudge
vs Burn
-1 Steel Overseer
-2 Galvanic Blast
+2 Whipflare
+1 Ethersworn Canonist
Reasoning: Overseer is slow, and I would rather have something that slows them down from killing me. Also so many people suspend 2 Rift Bolts and pass, and Canonist just makes sure one doesn't hit your face. Whipflare because for 1 extra mana the Guide AND the eidolon dies.
vs Jund
-2 Memnite
-2 Galvanic Blast
-1 Steel Overseer
+1 Relic of Progenitus
+2 Etched Champion
+2 Thoughtseize
Reasoning: So many people think that you don't side in Thoughtseize in this matchup, but if you hit their sweeper they can't beat you. Its that simple.
vs Abzan
-1 Signal Pest
-3 Steel Overseer
-2 Galvanic Blast
+1 Relic of Progenitus
+2 Etched Champion
+2 Thoughtseize
+1 Blood Moon
Reasoning: Stony Silence sucks, and this deck is WAY more vulnerable to blood moon than Jund is. Signal Pest is bad vs Lingering Souls
vs Bloom
-2 Galvanic Blast
-1 Welding Jar
-1 Steel Overseer
+2 Blood Moon
+1 Ethersworn Canonist
+1 Dispatch
Reasoning: Your gonna see a lot of the time that when I remove a Steel Overseer, I put in an Ethersworn Canonist. It catches so many people off guard, and slows down combo decks by just enough to kill them when Overseer number 3 is just too slow.
vs Grixis
This one is tricky and I'm still trying to find an optimal board plan.
vs Tron
-2 Etched Champion
+2 Blood Moon
Reasoning: Not sure what else to do, but this has worked so far. Don't play vs. This much.
vs Abzan Company
-2 Spellskite
-2 Galvanic Blast
+1 Grafdigger's Cage
+1 Relic of Progenitus
+2 Whipflare
vs Elves
-2 Spellskite
-1 Welding Jar
-1 Steel Overseer
+2 Whipflare
+2 Thoughtseize
Reasoning: You just wanna keep them off dudes and kill them. And have Thoughtseize for combo portions/sweepers.
vs Merfolk
-2 Spellskite
-1 Welding Jar
+2 Whipflare
+1 Dispatch
Reasoning: See above, except this is even easier.
vs Infect
-3 Steel Overseer
-1 Galvanic Blast
+1 Ethersworn Canonist
+2 Whipflare
+1 Dispatch
Reasoning: the 4th Galvanic Blast is better as a Dispatch in case their dudes are huge. Ethersworn slows them down and whip flare kills a dude and a hierarch.
That should cover most big match ups...
As for Origins, I'm looking forward to trying out Hangarback Walker, Days Undoing and Chief of the Foundry to see if they deserve spots.
Typically against Jund, you dont actually want to bring in 2 blood moon. Even though I have 2 in my board, against decks that I'm using Blood Moon to "catch off guard" are the ones where their lands are better than mine, not to screw them on colors.
2 Come in vs. Scapeshift, Tron and Bloom. 1 comes in (sometimes depending on how often I see them fetch for basics) vs Jund, Junk, UW/x Control and never grixis.
Thoughtseize is great against any deck where you expect Sweepers or high impact cards. Sure, your bringing in thoughtseize vs a thoughtseize deck. But affinity is a deck that loses to specific cards, not specific matchups. Thoughtseize allows you to remove those cards and also gives you information on what kind of spells to play around, something very important for Affinity.
I'll post my list and sideboard plans in a bit
3 Disciple of the Vault
2 Etched Champion
4 Memnite
4 Ornithopter
4 Signal Pest
4 Vault Skirge
3 Shrapnel Blast
4 Chromatic Star
4 Cranial Plating
4 Mox Opal
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
1 Blood Crypt
4 Glimmervoid
3 Sulfurous Springs
This list 4-0'd a daily. Obviously not this exact list, but thoughts on something similar? Like, for example:
3 Disciple of the Vault
2 Etched Champion
3 Memnite
4 Ornithopter
4 Signal Pest
4 Vault Skirge
2 Shrapnel Blast
4 Chromatic Star
4 Cranial Plating
4 Mox Opal
1 Welding Jar
4 Blinkmoth Nexus
4 Inkmoth Nexus
4 Glimmervoid
1 Mountain
Or something similar to this. I dont typically like 17 lands, but with Star not being a "permanent" mana source and requiring more colors I like going up to 17.
Might actually be good vs. Shatterstorm. If you have this and an Arcbound Ravager in play, Shatterstorm becomes "turn all artifacts an opponent controls into 1/1 Thopters"
Might be worth testing. It probably isnt very good, but not just outright bad which is a plus
The reason we run another land isnt for colors its to fetch for path.
cut the Steam Vents for an Island or a mountain.
Also, cutting all the Memnites is wrong. You want at least 1 to give you 6 0 Mana artifacts. You can cut a Thoughtcast for one but personally I would cut another one for it.
Also I personally think 16 land is fine.
Having 2 of these seems really good in burn with Days Undoing to recycle pitched lands and draw 7. then even if you draw 5 lands and 2 burn spells, thats still 10+ burn
Path isn't a pump spell. Wild Defiance is...
I also still prefer Wild Defiance over Path, as its both a pump spell and you can keep hands with hierarch + 2 lands, pump spells and defiance
if you think about it if your opponent thinks their safe you can attack for 15 with that hand. haha

this will be my last comment on this thread. Next time you'll hear from me is when Tempered Steel does well at a GP.
