I'd advise some more Demonfires for control...some graveyard control (Tormod's Crypt or Withered Wretch) and a way to deal with Ivory Mask (Stuffy Doll, possibly?)
Also, might want to look into -x/-x effects (Last Gasp or Sudden Death) for regenerators.
I opted for the snow-covered build for Ronom and Skred and it's worked out great. It provides protection against huge green beaters, something that i was having problems facing. It wrecks anything that plays suspend and has great matchups against aggro. It still can't beat control consistently but it does pull close match ups with them.
EDIT--Forcing a Magus in early game versus control (and Phyrexian Totem) is absolutely awesome. They rarely have a way to deal with them!
I've had problems against anyone running Ivory Mask but a few Stuffy Dolls in the SB should fix that up. Maybe some Withered Wretches for graveyard control, too. Any comments or suggestions?
try two pulmonic slivers. Also, there's no need for the Hivestone since you're taking out the Elders. That leaves for slots open for any utility cards. Maybe Harmonic Sliver for enchantments?
EDIT--
Well, there are the saprolings...leave some of the stones in i suppose
RIght now, I have this awesome G-Shock watch. I use to have a Relic watch with a red face. It was pretty sweet since not that many people actually have watches with red faces; it was unique.
Does that mean that the animated Nexus is going to die if I activate the staff regardless of timing? (I was thinking APNAP might apply but I'm not really sure)
THe question is, is there any way through the manipulation of timing that I can Proteus Staff my animated Nexus before he can respond with a Helix spell? Or is my animated Nexus going to burn to the graveyard before the Staff can stash it at the bottom of the library? (Note: assume that he won't burn the Nexus once I animate it, he will wait for me to activate the staff first).
Also, if i have two animated Nexii out and my opponent burns the original one I targeted away, can I choose the other Nexus?
i've tested this deck out and it's pretty decent.
I would consider adding some Seal of Dooms for fatty creatures (dragons, meloku, etc.) It's a one-for-one rather than a two-for-one at best. The Seal of Fires haven't done much for me.
I did try out a single Rakdos Pit Dragon and it's pretty good BUT it's only hit play when i there's no Arenas out. Even though it's a control deck, it needs a finisher of some sort. Ryusei possibly?
I should specify here because i think this is somewhat ambiguous..
Null Brooch's ability requires you to pay 3 costs to play, paying 2, tapping it, and discarding your hand. You always have a hand, even if your hand is empty... you have a hand of zero cards. So you can discard 'your hand' no matter how many cards are in your hand, from 0 up to your entire library.
However, Rakdos Guildmage's creature killing activated ability has two costs, 3B and discard a card. You can't discard a card if your hand is empty, so if your hand is empty you can use Null Brooch's ability, but not the black ability from rakdos guildmage.
I'll make a gameshow comparison because I absolutely love doing so.
Think about the show Let's Make a Deal. Picture monty hall, and the bat**** crazy people dressed up like raggedy ann and raggedy andy on crack. Okay, now monty's telling a contestant that they can take a blender, or whatever is inside the mystery box. The mystery box may have nothing in it, or it may have $1000 in it, nobody knows, but you know for sure that the blender is there and that's what you'll get.
The blender, in this situation, is a single card in your hand, while the 'mystery box' represents your hand. They can't tell you that, if you picked it, the blender wasn't actually there and therefore you lose... you see it, it's there for sure. However the mystery box could have anything in it, including nothing at all.
So, think of 'discard your hand' as 'put all the cards from your hand into your graveyard'. Does it matter if 'all the cards in your hand' is seven or zero? No, because 'all' doesn't have that meaning attached to it. Hell, allthree toed catfish with bionic arms named Trogdor have marshmallow-powered gills. If there are no three toed catfish with bionic arms, my statement is true. However, if I said 'there is a three toed catfish with bionic arms that has marshmallow-powered gills', then there must be at least one for the statement to be true. So you can't discard a card if you have no card to discard, but you can discard your hand no matter how many cards (including 0) are in it.
Shmee 51 wins the thread...he wins it so much, that it deserves to be locked! thanks for the quick answers
I did a quick check and I couldn't find an answer to my question.
Essentially, can you use Rakdos Guildmage's discard ability when you have no cards in your hand? I'm assuming not, since part of the cost is to discard a card but I could be wrong.
wow, what an amazing match. Credit has to be given to the Polish team for putting up such a great effort against the German machine but Germany comes out on top with a goal in the extended time.
I'd probably rank this one of the best matches of the World Cup 2006 and we're not even out of group play!
So, that art might just be a throwback to what Ixidor was suppose to look like!

I was the newb who played Raise the Alarm imprinted on Isochron Scepter as a sorcery (I still do for kicks)
I have a Proteus Staff and a Blinkmoth Nexus in play while my opponent has an Isochron Scepter imprinted with Lightning Helix.
