I believe Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary banned in Commander? Unless y'all have house-rules. I do like the list overall, nothing is really jumping out at me as a bad inclusion. Destructor Dragon is a card I'd consider, but I can;t say its better than your other options.
Totally spaced on Rofellos! Thanks for catching it. Fix'd. As fas the Destructor Dragon, I didn't spot that when I was going through gatherer. It's definitely worth trying out. Especially if I include some good sac outlets.
My only caution about Yisan is that he plays pretty linearly in that the tutor targets are almost always pretty obvious, and usually if Seedborn Muse hits the field it's gg.
I figured that'd be the way of things. That's why I'm building him. Plus, I figured he'd be an easy deck to loan to beginners.
For my MVCs, I'll be focusing on the deck I've had put together the longest: Rafiq of the Many!
Land: Alchemist's Refuge- This, plus a Sword of Feast and Famine equipped Rafiq, can be such a game breaking land to have in play.
Creature: Sun Titan- The deck has tons of targets for him. Plus, he's my favorite out of the Titan cycle. Powerful, but mostly not broken. Mostly.
Artifact: Tie between SoFaF and Birthing Pod- Either is a value machine... so long as I have a creature on the board.
Enchantment: Spirit Mantle- I love the art and it has closed out more than a few games, when attached to Rafiq.
Planeswalker: Venser, the Sojourner- His character came out, right as I was starting to play M:tG in a serious fashion. Plus, he was essentially there at the advent of the "Neo-Walker" era. Not to mention the fact that he's Value City and that his ultimate is a game-ender.
Instant: Spell Crumple- Only because I have it in German!
Sorcery: Austere Command- So versatile. One of the best board wipes ever.
The realm I wouldn't mind seeing again: Either Dominaria or Lorwyn, but only after it became Eventide. I feel like we haven't been to the "core realm" in a long time. And I love the "twisted fairytale" style of Eventide.
I have spoken with shortstack and have decided to resign as a leader of this clan. It's hardly fair that I am with the amount of activity I have here and I honestly haven't been playing magic much anymore. I'll still be around however! As for my new legendary member status, I'll be claiming my main man Reaper King
It's all good! And I approve of your new title.
I'll hop on the Gab-bandwagon and offer my support for him as our new Elder Dragon!
Also, for suggestions: What types of series/genres you like? I read, watch etc. quite a lot of things, so if I try to recommend something to you, if you like...
I usually read fantasy, sci-fi, true crime, and thrillers. I'll read anything, as long as it grabs my attention.
I'm going to look into The Twelve Kingdoms. They sound interesting.
Mostly fantasy, but I also enjoy thrillers, horrors, sci-fi, historical and psychological books. Last serie I finished: Hunger Games, that was good and all, but not amazing... The second one was pretty useless. Now reading: A Song of Fire and Ice, Tome 1. Finally decided to read this awesome serie and I already love it. 5000 pages are a lot, though.
They don't get any easier. That's one of my absolute favorite series. Now George R. R. Martin needs to hurry up and finish the next one!
I've heard of Vampire Hunter D. Never seen it, though it is on my "to watch" list.
For book recommendations.... The Artifact Cycle! Especially "Brothers' War." 'Tis truly epic. It made me want to build a clockwork artifact EDH afterwards.. and an old-school suicide Black deck >_>
I've been meaning to read that cycle for a long time. Thanks for reminding me!
Depends on what you're looking for. Based on what you said, I recommend Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan. The content and philosophical material give it depth, without lack of over the top violence. If you like cyberpunk at all, this is must-read.
I've already read Altered Carbon. I've been meaning to get the sequels to it. Morgan is an author I enjoy very much. He also wrote a fantasy novel that was really good. It was called The Steel Remains. If you like his stuff, you should check it out.
I've honestly had worse boxes. At least it wasn't all junk rares. But disappointment is one of the reasons I almost never buy boxes, or packs, anymore. I'm not much for gambling...unless the odds are in my favor.
Only things I've been buying lately are video games... oh and I got a new PSP. It's red! It can play Japanese region-coded discs as well as US ones, so I'm pretty happy.
Sounds like a good buy.
I've been buying books, lately. Anyone heard of Vampire Hunter D? It's an older anime, if you haven't. I've been reading the light novel series. I'm on book 3 now, Demon Deathchase. The writing is appropriately fantastic enough to inspire anime. The protagonist is nigh-unstoppable and can pull off some pretty outlandish stunts. There's no power-creep, either. He's that badass in the first book. They're an enjoyable, light bit of entertainement.
Any other avid readers here? I'm always looking for suggestions.
thanks for the input i actually picked up a Strionic Resonator to add into i earlier today. so yeah that will be going in.
as for the Nightveil Specter thanks for the input on him. i will probably omit him from the list then.
now how do you feel about the little bit of mill in the deck. im thinking it may not work well after reading all the different threads. but i do like how its not my main win con and since i mostly play multiplayer or two headed giant it would have to be copied to target more than won player. but its just there for disruption.
If your meta has a lot of graveyard-based decks, it can be a liability. You'll be helping, more than hurting them. Things like Traumatize, Jace, Memory Adept (his zero ability), and Mind Funeral only hit one player, which makes them weak choices. You'd be better off putting some different disruption in there, like one of my personal favorites: Stranglehold. Even Torpor Orb would be a good inclusion. Aside from a couple of creatures, you aren't relying on enter-the-battlefield effects. Thus, it won't hurt you, as much as it would your opponents.
Some counterspells might be a good inclusion, too. I see a couple, but no Hinder/Spell Crumple. Some extra ways to just say "No!"
@ablack23:
You have a very solid base for a spell slinger-style Jeleva deck. Melek wouldn't be a bad addition, for the reasons you've already gone over. I suggest putting a Strionic Resonator in your deck. It is an auto-include, if ever there were one, for Jeleva decks. It can double her casting trigger, netting you twice the cards exiled, and give you double her attack triggers. It would also double Melek's trigger, too.
As for Nightveil Specter: The reason he doesn't see play in EDH is that you're not guaranteed to gain advantage from it. Most players aren't willing to devote a slot on a creature that could gain you little to no advantage. His single card exile is negligible in this format, as opposed to Standard. And even if you exiled something you could cast, you still have to have mana open to do so.
@Xen:
That's the general direction I'm going in. I might keep some of the discard, but that might be as simple disruption. I realize that I won't be able to cast cards that aren't exiled by her, but that was never the main point of this deck. I want to focus on her exile as the decks wincon. It might be harder to win that way, but it might be easier. I need to get some more cards and start testing.
Also, if I do go that route, would you be willing to make me a new banner? I don't think I could stand one from anybody else.
Just wondering, is anyone here going to BNG-prerelease?
And on unrelated note, today I, for the first time ever, visited Burger King. It was... okay.
I won't be attending prerelease. I work, but I doubt I would, even if I didn't. There are a lot of interesting, not to mention pretty, cards. None of them excite me, though. I'll try to get Mogis and the other gods, but that's about it.
In:
1 Prophet of Kruphix
Out:
1 Sylvan Primordial
Glad you like it! I'll most likely be adding that in, once I've got the list finished.

Did you at least get a Sword of War and Peace?
I've been looking around for a shop to do a new sig for me, but all of them seem to be busy...or they're Disappointing.
It has been pretty quiet. Not a whole lot of interesting EDH-related stuff going on, I guess.
I haven't had time to play much, lately. I'm hoping to clear some time, but work and stuff keeps getting in the way.
The Oracle variant is only ok. It doesn't allow you to play an extra land and is double :symg;, which isn't worth the minimal life gain.

My personal phrase for Counterspell: "YOU SHALL NOT CAST!"
When I drop Torpor Orb and/or Stranglehold, all you hear is maniacal laughter. EDIT: Also Damping Matrix.
