Hey MTGSalvationers! I'm just getting back into Standard after stopping around the release of ISD, and after looking at cards from the last block and M13, I decided I wanted to try to build a straight up Mono Green Creature-filled deck. I'm not interested in cute little humans or tokens, I just want a solid, nontribal deck. Please note that my deck building skills are pretty rusty, so these numbers prrrrrobably aren't the best.
I don't know which decks are really being played in Standard right now, so I don't have a sideboard and the deck isn't really tailored to beat anything specific. I think the major problem right now is no way to deal with fliers.
Hello MTGSalvation! Following the release of Innistrad, I stopped playing Magic due to a lack of money and a lack of transportation to events (I'm 14.) Recently, especially with the coming of Return to Ravnica, I've decided it's time to get back into Magic. My problem, however, is that even though I'm vaguely familiar with M13, DKA, and AVR, I know nothing about the state of Standard and what decks/cards are being used right now. So what I ask of you, you Standard-metagame-expert-analyzers, is to provide a brief (or in-depth, depending on how generous you're feeling) explanation of the state of the Type 2 game right now. Even the naming of the big cards in play right now or helpful tips with decks would be helpful. I'm just looking to be able to start playing at casual FNM's and online on Cockatrice with some clue about the game again.
Dave Kendall - I love that his stuff still looks oldschool, and not ps airbrushed with live models ect. While that method does look clean and produce vivid cards, I like his gritty style much more. Not to mention the content is very crazy and he obviously has a very good imagination. I have met him before and he's very nice as well.
If I had to choose one, it's hard but I'll just throw this out there.
Owen Egger (my name) Oh as in "dope" in as in "dolphin". EGG- er (Er as in "packer". Go Giants) Curiously, many people seem to pronounce it as "eager" That's why I dropped the last "e". Hope it clears things up.
Fair enough...I was shooting for a more controlled effect, but I do see it's been done, more or less, anyways.
What about the flavor implications then? Isn't wind one of the few things that we humans can't control? We can harness its power, yes, but we can't pick and choose what and where it hits.
4 Arbor Elf
4 Borderland Ranger
2 Briarpack Alpha
1 Craterhoof Behemoth
1 Ghoultree
1 Kessig Cagebreakers
4 Predator Ooze
4 Somberwald Sage
2 Thragtusk
1 Yeva, Nature's Herald
4 Young Wolf
4 Rancor
Land
20 Forest
3 Rootbound Crag
1 Kessig Wolf Run
Notice there aren't any M12 or Scars block cards. I'd like to keep it that way.
Cards that could be changed:
Briarpack Alpha- I see it as a severely watered-down Vines of Vastwood with a random body stuck to it.
Predator Ooze- I like the blocking potential. And the card is just cool to me.
Craterhoof Behemoth/Ghoultree- Big beaters to top off the curve, Ghoultree seems like the better of the two.
Kessig Cagebreakers- Just there for Wolf beats.
Somberwald Sage- Sucky replacement for Birds and Elves.
Young Wolf- Just there for early pressure.
I don't know which decks are really being played in Standard right now, so I don't have a sideboard and the deck isn't really tailored to beat anything specific. I think the major problem right now is no way to deal with fliers.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
oweneggr

I think the cartoonish style really works on this. Great work!
Unless they have trial versions on their website, this is illegal.
