Way too slow, doesn't do enough. At 4cc you are playing green ramp to even think about being serious with this card. Then you look at all the other green ramp choices between 4cc adn 6cc and this card isn't even on the radar. Put it in the bin and move on.

Ok so it reduces the amount of instants sorcs needed to flip Thing in the Ice from 4 to 1. Not too shabby. I look forward to the interesting veins Solemnity will open up in both existing decks as well as new decks that will focus on breaking the card.

Can we clear up solemnity and thing in this ice? Does it work or not?

    Enduring ideal anyone?
Actually im not sure it helps Enduring Ideal, that card wins when it's cast already. I see it helping a pillowfort deck with Unlife and Greater Auramancy.

Solemnity looks good in pillow fort.

UR God seems probably good I guess? Great finisher, hard to deal with and can close out games on its own. Maybe a bit too expensive? Ideas?
Standard fodder. Costs too much and does too little.

My money remains on meditate but I'm willing to see a control magic sorcery.
That would be cool. Control Magic fits the cost scheme too.

Maybe Dispel is better. I'm just thinking being proactive against Grixis Death's Shadow in particular seems like something that may work well considering how good Stubborn Denial is.

Grixis DS and Control are pretty even. If they don't draw a mass of spells and flood out, they lose. Give them enough stuff to play around and you'll get them to the late game where your spells just do more work. Basically, if they don't draw disruption they can really struggle -- their Fatal Pushes don't do anything thus every FP drawn is putting them down a card. Inq and TS, on the other hand, do a lot -- so they can get you there if they draw a mass of discard and stubbs.

Personally, I don't think the deck has to morph at all to beat DS (maybe some removal spell/discard/counter reconfiguration at best) but I do think the deck has to morph if it wants to beat streamlined big mana decks.
We didn' see big mana too much in las Vegas which is good. That could very well mean a lot of it in the next major tourney though, who knows.

But Maro said it was a sorcery cycle, so no counterspells. We also already have 2 coutnerspells this set so prolly not getting any more. I think all 3 will be 3cc. Red's might be land destruction? 1RR destroy target land, it's controller takes 3 damage or something like that.

Played against 3 Affinity, 3 Shadow, and 1 UWR Kiki? on Day 1. Day 2 was 6 different decks. Pretty diverse meta and less E Tron than I would have thought. Less Dredge too...

Its becoming more clear to me, the guy who tracks dredge dad for the dredge primer, and even the the dredge posters that modern has two "Boogieman decks of the format" and it's a very Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde relationship. When Affinity does well and people board for it cutting grave hate, Dredge shows the format what a real boggie man looks like. When people board for grave, Affinty position stenghtens again.

Thats a new mini layer of complexity to our format from here on out. And thats honestly a good thing.
Dredge is way more toxic to the format than Affinity is. Affinity is a known quantity that folks know and are ok with. It's interactive, it feels fast but fair. Dredge is non interactive and is completely about whether or not hate is on the table. Thus dredge bans. It's an obnoxious toxic archetype that makes for boring one sided matches. There's no wonder why WOTC keeps it in check with bans.

If white is an option why not use Rest in Peace over Leyline? Leyline is clearly tops for mono black, but RiP is the single best GY hater in the format. It has splash hate vs Goyf and Scooze too.

I need a second opinion on SB, I'm dipping white just for sideboard options. I'm looking for optimal sb options for tron, eldrazi, dnt, burn, and anything else particularly meta. This is what i am came up with. I already have 3 surgical's mainboard so no worries about suggesting that. What else am i missing?

    1x Death's Shadow
    1x Ensnaring Bridge
    1x Flaying Tendrils
    3x Fragmentize
    2x Hero's Downfall
    2x Leyline of the Void
    1x Pithing Needle
    2x Ratchet Bomb
    1x Relic of Progenitus
    1x Tombstalker
Looks a little unfocused. Rest in Peace is your graveyard hate, and probably the best reason to run white sideboard. Disenchant is a thing too.

Picture oketras last mercy in a UW control shell vs burn. Flashback with snapcaster all day long? Turn 3 this, Turn 4 wrath. GG ez.

How did you turn 4 wrath when your lands didn't untap from turn 3?
    Ahh right true.

I think the desired effect you're looking for is a timely reinforcements on turn three into the wrath on four. There's definately a use for this card, but it will take some development and probably be reserved to the kitchen table. (BW Hated?)
Nah this is different than Timely. This is a total reset of life, burn runs out of gas. Timely is a great card but may or may not push the game out of reach. Timely = 2 burns spells to recover. This card could take 5+ burn spells to recover.
