spoils of war? My opponent has 4 creatures in his grave, I have 4 on the field, so for B I get to put 4 +1/+1 counters on all 4 of my spirit tokens that I made with lingering souls? And swing for 20!
Every week that i have time I submit a deck idea to Gavin verhey on the motherboard, before I even came to the discussion boards here, this is the deck I submitted, it seems a lot of the ideas I had are things that people on here agree with, any thoughts on it?
(Could someone look at the mana base? I think I might have screwed it up.
I feel you want fewer mana confluences, you don't want to kill yourself outright as you're running 4 thoughtseize as well, I'd cut 2, also is cut 1 each swamp and plains and add the playset of the BW temple of silence as it will help smooth out your draws mid game, which is where a deck like this will really need it hope that helps
Stronic resonator makes infinate turns work with the sage and with new ajani, simply remove 5 counters and copy the trigger to net two turns an a counter. Technically, that's also infinate life too as with unlimited turns you also can ulti ajani multiple times.
The question was posed as to why people like this card so much( even though there are obvious better choices in legacy), from my perspective it is this(standard perspective), it adds to devotion, it can charge the way your opponent plays the game, and in a deck that can force your opponents to make the best of two bad decisions, ie WW(this on a precinct capt. Is very good, 5/5 first striker, if he's blocked=good if not=good/ or on a sylvan caryatid, =3/6 hexproof ultiblocker?!?), the card is great for those reasons. However, this is day two of spoilers, so no one should be having a heart attack just yet. And as far as legacy is concerned, nothing yet really, but we can hope that griselbrand 2.0x.1 comes out soon
I've added Akroan Horse to my Esper control in anticipation of Ephara. So far it works out ok in casual match-ups. Getting extra card draw with it should be good.
Well I don't know if it's been said yet, but brimaz that got spoiled seems to fit the bill a little better than the horse. It add to your devotion, is actually on curve, and will probably draw you at least a card on your opponents turn. If you basically splash blue into WW for this god, it sort of like how domri rade gets played in GR, except now it's a draw reguardless of wether top card is a creature or not, bident of thassa possibly for both of its abilities( make your opp attack into your brimaz, draw a card, untap, attack, draw lots of cards?). What do you all think?
Oh hey, this should be a pretty good sideboard option against U/G Madness!
The only real shot this card probably has is if folks pair it up with a bunch of Wheel of Fortunes, but then, why not just run Megrim effects with your wheels and kill them?
I think this once again harps to the uses of this card, not only being printed at 1B( better cost than megrim), but to the uses it has as a card engine. If you play megrim on turn 1, and wheel on turn two, obviously your a cheater, but you still haven't killed your opponent,I.e. they still have a shot w/ 7cards in hand. But if you play this on turn 1, and a wheel effect on turn two, you have generated multiple forms of advantage, I.e. tokens, card draw, and mana.
The text says: "If it would leave the battlefield, exile it instead of putting it anywhere else." Using the normal conventions of English grammar and Magic card templating, that means "...anywhere other than exile". "Anywhere other than the battlefield" doesn't even make sense, because it's talking about an event where the creature would leave the battlefield going somewhere else.
I feel this is incorrect, if you activate the initiative and a creature that was returned with whip leaves(to be exiled by the initiative) you would then have a replacement ability trigger from the whip(exiling instead of putting it anywhere else). Even though the initiative would also put the card into exile, it's the replacement of the whips ability that would prevent the creatures return.
Just to be clear: the game would look back to see what was exiled by the initiative, and that the creature wouldn't be one of them( as it was replaced by the whip).
So what do you all think of Lavinia of the tenth being in this deck? Seems pretty powerful to me, pro red at least will get a lot of things done in the post rotation meta.
Right, challenge accepted... Make indestructible first.

I was wrong this is right
