On another note: why aren't people playing more Anguished Unmaking over maelstrom pulse in the main?

There's too many burn players out there to play it without good reason. -

If thats the case that would be pretty amazing.
Some Legends are based on truth:
Spanish forum where the deck originated credits it's development to a Luis Viciano aka Maverick, in it's opening post. He goes on to post about the deck using the Maverick user name too. I don't speak Spanish though so that's about all I can tell you with relying on Google Translate. -

Talk about modern as a whole; Bans, health reprints and more.Posted in: Modern ArchivesQuote from Underused Cards »They do have a card that completely shuts down dredge and actually removed Dredge from Tier 1 and out of the meta in Legacy. Deathrite Shaman.
This is absolutely false. Deathrite Shaman does not completely shut down Dredge; it can't be used until the second turn, and it will only remove one card at a time, which is generally too slow against Dredge. It also requires mana to do so, slowing the Deathrite Shaman player down and giving the Dredge player more time.
Also false is the claim Deathrite Shaman removed Dredge from Tier 1 in Legacy. First, Dredge before Deathrite Shaman was never consistently Tier 1; it was always at the mercy of graveyard hate, so it would pop into Tier 1, then dive out when people started packing hate, then come back. But maybe the claim is that Deathrite Shaman removed it more permanently from Tier 1. The problem is that this is the exact opposite. Dredge (and to a lesser extent Reanimator) experienced a major resurgence after Deathrite Shaman's printing. Why? People were playing less graveyard hate because they were running Deathrite Shaman, but Deathrite Shaman isn't that great against Dredge for the above reasons (it's better against Reanimator but still could be too slow). Deathrite Shaman ironically made Dredge better in Legacy, not worse.
It is true that Dredge has declined remarkably in Legacy and hasn't come close to being Tier 1 for quite some time now, but that happened well after the printing of Deathrite Shaman. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I've been meaning to do this for a while, as well as get a bunch of other updates made but have just been really busy with end of school year stuff. I'll try to get some updates made either tomorrow night or saturday (probably saturday night).
Also, I've been playing jund more than junk lately which is why I haven't really made too many updates in a while, but may be swinging back into white again with tec-edge being a lot more viable than in recent modern meta.

I'm a little less upset at wizards though because it would have been a bit more difficult to spend the time in testing to figure out this deck could be potentially problematic. But treasure cruise was a just a clear indication that wizards spends next to zero time playtesting new cards in modern/legacy. I still don't understand why wizards hasn't gone to the modern and legacy communities to get help in this regard. We all know damn well there are people on this forum that are perfectly capable of evaluating cards reasonably and will actually spend the time to do so...for free, even. Modern would have a lot of problems solved by now if they actually had people doing research and playtesting things providing actual data that isn't from MTGO which is terribly skewed.

Well, you really want 4 tarmogoyfs and 3 scoozes main, before siding, so I'd say you'd want to fix that first. Honestly, you're already favored for grixis twin, so deciding what to take out is really difficult. I would probably also go down to 1 tasigur, but I wouldn't even play 2 to begin with. The voice's are really great against them since they like to use the stack a lot on your turn. The only thing I would want to bring in is golgari charm, engineered explosives, celestial purge, sigarda, and maybe the zealous persecution. The choke can be good too, but you need to figure out what your sideboard will actually end up being. You could switch out the duress for a thoughtseize too, if you really want, since duress will likely nab things you want anyway: namely cryptic command.
So to answer your question on what to side out: I'm thinking potentially lotv. She's sorcery speed and doesn't always really pressure your opponent enough. Lingering souls can come out if you know they have electrolyze, otherwise, you really want it. Maelstrom pulse can be pretty clunky here, but sometimes they bring in stuff like batterskull. Celestial purge is pretty much an upgrade to maelstrom pulse here because it will exile just about anything you'd want to hit with maelstrom pulse except for a batterskull. However, I think it's safe to say most players are gonna go for keranos, god of storms instead and celetial purge is great for that. Taking out the hand disruption is a matter of preference. Personally, I find I don't really need that much hand disruption against grixis twin games 2 and 3. They're likely going to try to flash things back with snapcaster anyway which nullifies a lot of what hand disruption does. And what you're bringing in to replace hand disruption answers their stuff anyway.
So, if I were you, I'd take out the maelstrom pulse, a couple of hand disruption spells, and maybe a liliana. And like I said, you really need to go down 1 tasigur and something else in the main, and add a tarmogoyf and scavenging ooze.
