Jul 20, 2013Mastodon posted a message on Why Scavenging Ooze is better than Deathrite ShamanI think scavenging ooze is definitely better as graveyard hate than shaman is in most cases since his ability is a lot more flexible for that purpose. However, I don't really think you can say either is better than the other because they both play two completely different roles.Posted in: DOLZero Blog

Jul 19, 2013Mastodon posted a message on My thoughts on the direction of the game.It is actually a very interesting implementation, one that I think the game desperately needed, but maybe now it's time to try and make the other parts of the game a little more balanced. As you can see, many people are kind of sick of wizards pushing creatures so hard. Even new players begin to wonder why don't we have better spells?Posted in: Greatness at any cost

Its definitely playable in a sleeve. Like I said, it was in hard plastic sleeve which saved it from being crumpled. -

Feb 17, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Esper Teachings Primer DraftThank you.Posted in: Greatness at any cost
As I said, the thread and sub-section for esper teachings has been taken down. I asked feathers about it, but I haven't gotten a reply yet.
I've only heard about grim harvest and have yet to give it a try. When I do, I'll add it if it seems viable.
Honestly, I'm a bit more concerned if there are any cards that I discussed that really shouldn't be in the primer. -
Feb 16, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Why I hate GideonThough I definitely agree he's probably the lamest with his abilities and ability to control your opponents creatures so well, but I feel a lot of people have come to hate karn a lot more just because karn generally takes all of your opponent's stuff lol.Posted in: Zelderex Blog
Either way, having elspeth make a flying 5/5 mirran crusader that beats for 10 is just down right ****ty. And having your opponent look at the top card of your library with his JTMS, laugh, and then put it on the bottom of your library is also pretty ****ty. -
Feb 16, 2012Mastodon posted a message on Esper Teachings Primer DraftThanks. I was still trying to pull some deck lists together, but it looks like the esper teachings part of the established section under the modern forum has been removed for whatever reason (I guess because it's not a tier 1 deck? I dunno). I had some other decklists in mind, but they were under that section and now they're gone lol.Posted in: Greatness at any cost

Though I'm sure I have stuff to get a playset of seachrome coast, I'm not even going to bother. They don't really even help out my deck that much considering it curves out at 5, 6, and 7 lol. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
It never had any significant placements at any major tournaments. Like many other potential creature-based combos, it folds to the format's prevalence of decks sporting a full playset of any given removal spell.
oh okay. Leovold would be good though too.
Right? You wouldn't even have to have Ancestral visions in the deck (I mean, you would obviously, but just for an example)...you could just cascade into jund's removal suite: lightning bolts and abrupt decays and stuff and no deck would ever beat you.
Also, why hasn't anyone mentioned Show and Tell? If you thought splinter twin was bad, just let that card into the format.
On the real though, I dropped a game once at FNM to some U/G ally deck that had an infinite combo kind of like twin. I don't remember the combo, but it involved xenograft. Note that this was way before BFZ, it was only using worldwake allies.
Edit: oh yeah, anytime you lose a game to form of the dragon you know that *****'s weird lmao
Personally, I'm still on the idea that they should just actually support legacy and vintage. Both WotC and players have gone through so much time and effort to figure out how to make modern a well-balanced format...yet it's still skewed by so many factors. We could just forget all of that if we could just get a FTV: dual lands. You could sell that ***** for $1000 and people would still buy the ***** out of it.
If thats the case that would be pretty amazing.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure what this has to do with maverick. Is this a reference to the character from top gun?
I know its kind of legacy specific, but I'm wondering if anyone here in general knows. I can't seem to find any good information on this.
