Also the creature types are all over the place. There's a white 'ape'. All apes to date have been in red or green, so making a white ape seems highly suspect to me. Also insects are pretty entirely in green and yet there's white insects here.
I'm calling this a fake as there are too many strikes against it for my liking.
I could imagine white insects and apes, both have pretty sound community structures after all. I'm pretty sure even Maro's talked about white insects before (ants maybe?).
I don't think it's the first time a card designed here very closely matched a card printed years and years later. I also think that the original page that posted this might be a spanish-language based page? So maybe the Frog name mismatch is just a translation error as well?
I still don't know if I really believe it though, to be honest. The thing I most believe is that tying it to Ikoria means that we're going to get a bunch of draft chaff shoved into the box, but I suppose that's not too far off from some of the original Commander decklists.
"Narset on Ikoria" is one of the worst card names I've heard on a long time, and while I could shrug it off as some made-up card name by the leaker, I really doubt the name of all things would be the one information any leaker would be unsure of instead of, say, starting loyalty.
It's obviously a filler name. I don't find it THAT hard to believe that they'd focus on memorizing the more important parts of the card.
Additionally, I can't think of any story reason for Narset to be in Ikoria. We already know that Ikoria will feature, at the very least, Vivien and a new Planeswalker. She has no real ties with Vivien, and considering her spark ignited very recently in storyline years, it's unlikely she has any past with the new 'walker either, and I assume her ultimate goal of amassing knowledge would take her to other places before she would ever consider going to Big Monster World.
She could be on there for any number of reasons. I don't think this argument really holds water either. Would Vraska be your first pick for "pirate world"? She doesn't really fit in thematically there, but planeswalkers can go wherever the hell they want.
If we are basing anything off of the Commander 2020 deck names, which are set on Ikoria, they appear to be wedge colored. Narset could appear due to the potential of a Jeskai wedge here.
Even if Ikoria is wedge based, that doesn't necessarily mean that the planeswalkers will be.
Given that Tarkir was changed from a wedge plane to a plane of allied guilds, getting a new wedge plane isn’t out of the picture...
Tarkir was wedge
Alara did shard
Tarkir started as Wedge, by the third set the Plane is now Allied-colour. Its no longer Wedge any more. So we're missing a Wedge plane.
I mean, they pretty clearly hint at the return of wedges, and given how strongly people liked it it’ll come back. The real question is how the dragons being two color would tie in. But Tarkir will return as a wedge plane.
I'm pretty sure Maro said something on his tumblr recently about how people wanting a return to Tarkir really wanted a return to allied color dragon clans, so I wouldn't necessarily say going back means we'll get more wedge support.
Still, there were those "rebel" factions within the dragon clans themselves, if I remember correctly. Especially in Atarka's clan.
that was definitely a color pair that needed another planeswalker!!!!
also was he "created" like a golem or something? Or was he made an agent of fate and he happens to be just regular old born? If it's the former...how does he even get a spark?
I kinda wish each of them had some representation of their respective land type in the foggy nyx-ishness but I don't mind them really. I'll probably run some of them. It's cool that they're full art and textless too I guess.
What you say is true. It would be nice to get some budget friendly fetch lands. Also a forum to talk and discuss deck designs for Pioneer would be great.
That's the biggest disappointment from this announcement to me. With the banning of the fetchlands in Pioneer, I fear they'll never reprint the fetches in Standard again. I doubt they'll even reprint the slow fetches or finish their cycle with an enemy colored group. It's a god damn shame too. Slow fetches and Tango lands/Cycle lands in enemy colors would do a LOT to make decent enemy colored mana bases more viable in EDH and in other formats.
I wish they would get over themselves and print the lands that need to be printed in the actual EDH products. Increase the amount of new cards a little bit and just add the lands that need to be added already. No precon deck that claims to be decent should have a manabase as bad as this years Jeskai deck ever again (it doesn't help that the deck itself is crappy too).

At first I thought it was kind of a nice idea for a product but too much of anything is always a bad thing.
whooo

what the ****.
Wow that is some *****. Definitely feel pretty let down right now.
Not to mention the way the cards are distributed doesn't make much sense. I agree, the Walgreens story is probably just a cover up.
