Well, they said popular tribes and if we are talking the Magic I know it's not going to be a bunch of decks made up of curve toppers or weird flip cards. It's probably going to be Humans, zombies, elves, and goblins. I wouldn't be surprised if soldiers was another type linked to humans. They might do merfolk if they think they can squeeze them in somehow, but I feel pretty surefire on the zombies and goblins at the very least. Slivers is potentially possible, but that's basically a five color deck and given the fact they want the decks balanced, I don't see them doing it if they include decks that go more towards two or three colors at most. The main issue is balancing the deck so it doesn't lose on principle thanks to its mana base as historically that is the reason the 2014 commander decks were so good out of the box.
This would be extremely disappointing. Especially because all of those tribes already seem to have decent commanders already. Not that I can't imagine the possibility...they really should use this chance to print support for tribes that are popular, but maybe don't have a great EDH commander (or even a really functional one). No Slivers, Elves, Goblins, Humans...etc.
I hope that this efficiently costed counterspell hoser means they're going to print permission spells that are at least a little pushed. Otherwise it just kind of feels like you're kicking a man when he's down.
I'm glad these are getting printed finally but I would like to see them finish the BFZ tangolands still. But it's about time, and it kind of makes it seem like this set might be focused around enemy colors, which is also something that seems like it took way too long to get to. I'm glad we're getting both those off the bucket list.
I would love to see one of these for Kamigawa and Ravnica. The only thing I wish this had was more maps, especially of important locations. I've always been curious to see how these places were laid out geographically.
I think it's an important distinction to make, since you could technically get double the activations out of a Molten Steel Dragon if you paid 2 life and dedicated all your red mana to copying the ability. Assuming you have a whole lotta life at any rate.

"So what's our plan of attack, planeswalker?"
"See that train? You and three of your 'buddies' are gonna drive at that guy over yonder."
