    Tournament Structure

The structure for qualifier tournaments feeding Pro Tour Journey into Nyx will be modified Swiss-style, with top players after the Swiss rounds playing in a single-elimination playoff for prizes and invitation(s).

    Format

    Swiss rounds: Standard Constructed.
The Born of the Gods expansion is not legal for use in the Standard format until February 7, 2014
    Deck lists are required
    Tournament Length

Swiss rounds will each be 50 minutes in length
Single-elimination playoff matches will have no time limit
Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance and platform according to the following chart:
    Attendance Swiss rounds Playoff
    8 3 Rounds (Single-Elimination Playoff only) None
    9 - 16 5 Rounds Top 4
    17 - 32 5 Rounds Top 8
    33 - 64 6 Rounds Top 8
    65 - 128 7 Rounds Top 8
    129 - 226 8 Rounds Top 8
    227 - 409 9 Rounds Top 8
    410 or higher 10 Rounds Top 8
    Advancement

All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
The top players after the final Swiss round will advance to the single-elimination playoff. The number of players that advanced to the playoff is based on the number of players in the event (see chart above)
    Playoff

Playoff matches will be best 2 of 3
    Playoff matches will be single-elimination
While there are no time limits in the playoff rounds, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 60 minutes
Standings after the Swiss rounds will be used to determine final order in the standings for losing players in the quarterfinal and semifinal playoff rounds.
For the first game of each match in the playoff, the player that finished higher in the Swiss rounds chooses either to play first or to play second. For subsequent games in each playoff match, the usual Play/Draw rule applies (loser of the previous game decides whether to play first in the next game).

    BRING YOUR EDH DECKS!!

All proxies must follow these guidelines:

Please do not use the back of a magic card for a proxie!

There are two types of acceptable proxies. The first and most basic is taking a basic land card and writing the details of the card on it. The second method is to take a card that shares some of the characteristics with the card that is being proxied and erase any characteristics that do not match, replacing them with the correct characteristics.

All proxies must have the following text neatly printed, using a extra fine point sharpie. Ball point pens may not be used:
    • The full name of the card (no abbreviations or nicknames)
    • Correct casting cost of the card including all colored mana symbols
    • All relevant/game effecting text

When choosing what card to use as the base for an erased proxy players must follow these rules:
    • The mana cost of the base spell must be the same as the card being proxied.
    • The type of the card being proxied must be the same as the base card.
    • The P/T of a creature being proxied must be the same as the base creature P/T
    • When proxying a creature it may be difficult to find a creature where all characteristics match. In this case, mana cost is the most important, followed by the P/T, followed by the subtype. Any characteristics that do not match must be erased and corrected.
    • The art box, card name, and text box must be totally erased. White out may not be used for this as it affects the stiffness of the card and may mark it.
    • When adding text to the card do not use a ball point pen. A extra fine point sharpie is the best thing to use. A ball point pen can cause indentations on the card marking it.
    • For clarity reasons, the use of cards with the new card frame is strongly encouraged
