I got a new playmat in the mail today (the Liz Nugent squirrel one!) and I love it. However, my current playmat has extreme curling on the sides from me rolling it up and stuffing it in my bag every time I use it. How can I avoid this?
My most awkward game would have to be the first time I actually played a paper EDH game w/ a "Spirit of EDH" group. Someone I regularly play with and I sat down to play with two other people we saw playing after draft one night. About 5 turns in, it's pretty apparent that their decks are "Spirit of EDH" and our decks are fairly more tuned. Most of the two games we played were spent with the two casual players complaining about how obnoxious our cards were and me making offhand comments about how the "Spirit of EDH" isn't actually a defined thing, nor can it be.
I've thought about Bloodthrone Vampire, and while I'll probably end up testing it, I prefer Aristocrat. We're not trying to burst them down. We're trying to grind them out. Sure, it'd be awesome to sac a bunch of Souls to it and swing for 10 t3/t4, but unless you have Artist out what do you have to back that up? Not to mention it just gets chump blocked for days. Opposing Souls shuts it down pretty hard. Artistocrat is a lot more reliable as a blocker, and attacker. As far as aggro goes, I've found 4x Vampire Nighthawk out of the board to be plenty to keep myself alive. Once Obzedat comes down it's over. Against Junk Rites/other midrange, Obzedat, Orzhov Charm, and just straight up grinding it out have done fine for me. On paper it looks scary, they gain so much life from Huntmaster and Thragtusk, but playing the MU I've found you just have to grind it through and it's usually not hard to scrape it out.
Ground Seal doesn't affect us? We're not targeting anything in the yard, the only interaction in the yard is recasting Gravecrawler/LS. Also, update. Altar's Reap. Play it. It's ridiculous. I'm really loving how much this deck rewards good play. Combat math is important, knowing when to trade/sacrifice in relation to Artistocrats/Blood Artists is important. So many tricks w/ Restoration Angel & Orzhov Charm. Here's my current list for reference;
I only wonder how can G, U and R get rid of him... Double Pillar of Flame doesn't work I believe. For blue there's only countering I think... G - no idea.
Double PoF would work. He'd never die, so he'd never regenerate.
I really like Balustrade Spy, it WILL win the game on the spot. The problem is, what if they have a Crypt or Relic on the field? You can't use Reverent Silence or Nature's Claim since you don't have the Arbors. You could just start beating down, only dredging your draw each turn I guess.
Has anyone found any really good answers to Junk Reanimator in B/W? It gives me so much more trouble than I think it should. It probably comes down to me not being a good player, but I'm open to any advice.
Once it starts curling? Or role it bottom side out from the get go?
