What is the point of running one Linvala? The deck has no tutor or filter effects, so you're basically guaranteed to not draw it when you actually need it. And it's not very impactful when you do draw it in most matchups, unlike running a 1-of Akroma or something.

White splash for Pride of the Clouds as a finisher?

With Wingcrafter giving your non-flyers flying, and eight 1-drop flyers, it should be pretty big.

Also possibly Moorland Haunt for grindy games.

Would it be viable to maindeck Suppression Field and remove the Aether Vials? Suppression Field slows down a lot of decks, goes well with the LD plan despite the extra mana cost to activate GQ/TE, and goes well with our creature suite of primarily ETB effects. Being able to drop either Suppression Field OR Leonin Arbiter on turn 2 to slow down those 3-4 color decks is much more consistent as well.

Also, I just really dislike drawing into two or three Aether Vials and not having any use for them. Whereas Suppression Field stacks pretty well.

The only difference is, the first creature that gets exiled is the temporary one; the second creature is the permanently exiled one. Because the second Fiend Hunter trigger goes on the stack while the first fiend hunter trigger is still there.

What do people think of a blue splash for Minamo, School at Water's Edge? Minamo lets you exile two permanents with Mangara of Corondor, and it's just a land so it doesn't slow anything down. You can also use it with Eiganjo Castle to save something from a bolt later on in the game.

So you think this is better than the alternative of using snow lands, where you essentially treat Land Tax as a 1-mana enchantment that makes your opponent stop playing lands?

Hmm, doesn't making 3sphere work require you to have a Mox Diamond in your opening hand, or something like City of Traitors? Otherwise, you both need to have 3 lands in play, and your opponent doesn't necessarily need to play a fourth land.

Have people tried running 3 copies of Isochron Scepter in this deck? To me it seems like the scepter fits this deck much better than the Mighty Quinn deck. This deck wants to stay low on lands, so trading 1-for-1 with cheap removal spells (Path, Swords, O-Ring) while gaining card advantage with the engine. Scepter lets us turn these cheap spells into permanent effects later on in the game to seal the deal.

On another note, would it be possible to run snow lands with Scrying Sheets in the mono white version? Since Scroll Rack also lets us set up draws with the Scrying Sheets, so if Land Tax isn't on the board we can still gain card advantage this way. I've had some games versus control decks where Land Tax never activated, and as a result, I had 5 or 6 lands stacked on top of my deck at some point in the game and was using Scroll Rack more or less to just draw one card beyond that stack of lands.

Well, for example, I have 2 plateaus, a mountain, 3 mox diamond, and a mox opal. Between my main deck and sideboard I have a blood moon, pyroblast, red elemental blast, and goblin charbelcher that care about mountains. The duals in my case are for belcher specifically since my list is effectively mono white and creatureless.

You may be more interested in a weenie build with bolts, etc. If that's the case you can probably look to the early parfait list and work some death and taxes elements in.

I think I'll try to build this without creatures. The card advantage engine seems to fit pure control better than aggro/control. Also then I can run things like Porphyryr nodes.

Why so much blue hate though? Is that just to deal with countermagic?

Parfait? Mono white control with a rip/helm win condition. Splashes require about 2 duals otherwise it's fueled by basic lands. Also there are various ways to build the deck; The core is land tax and scroll rack.

That deck sounds really cool actually; thanks for the suggestion!

If I splashed red for Firestorm, is the dual land even optimal? Land Tax is only able to grab basic lands, and it seems like the deck doesn't want to run fetchlands either. I guess Tithe and Weathered Wayfarer could grab it, but the latter is a bit slow.

So I'm looking to get into Legacy, and I like playing control decks with a bit of a combo flavor. I currently have a Modern Mono-W Death&Taxes deck and most of a U/R tempo deck (sort of hoping for fetches to be reprinted before buying those), and I've played most modern decks proxied. I'm looking to spend around $500 for a competitive legacy deck, and I was thinking of building either Enchantress or some mixture of Crucible Pox and Nightmare Effect.

Unfortunately I don't really want to buy full playsets of expensive lands, so this seems to really limits my Blue options in Legacy.

I'd also like a deck that I can transform a bit to play for fun casually, so no Solidarity or Dredge. I also want something different than just building D&T in Legacy.

Thinking of building a high tide deck - why does the Reset version not see play anymore? Or at least, I don't see it talked about much.

How about pairing this with cascade for lots of uber spell spamming?

So basically, use cascade and the angel to spam spells. There's 10 2-drops which all bounce stuff, so you can use them early on to slow down your opponent and later on paired with cascade for gaining board position.

I decided to forgo having really large game winning individual spells, since in that case it seems better to just use something like Dramatic Entrance rather than the Archangel. Gives a little more consistency this way.

So I really like the idea of tempo decks with a combination of aggro and control, as they seem very flexible and fun to play.

I've been using the UG tempo thresh deck on cockatrice for a bit, and I'd like to build something similar, but I don't have any of the staples needed (FoW, goyfs, wastelands, etc.)

Werebear seems to sub for goyf decently once I get threshold. The closest substitute to FoW was mental misstep for early game and circular logic for late game. I added 8 discard creatures to use circular logic and deep analysis, as well as chuck things like wonder to the graveyard, and they also have enough power to get through before I reach threshold.

I pretty much gave up on the LD employed by stifle + wasteland since I had none of those, and the only green LD spells costed 3 mana.

Looking for some feedback on the following deck.

I should note that I probably won't be taking this to any tournaments, it's mostly just something to play around with for fun.

Use manlands instead of tokens; takes up less card slots.

And you don't need 4 polymorph targets. 1 or 2 is enough.
