Looks pretty slick. I know somebody tried out Hope Tender a while ago in T&N and eventually came to the conclusion that it was meh. Sometimes that extra clunk of using one mana can gum things up. I would keep an eye out for this in your testing...it might just be better as another satyr.
Also, I dig Dromoka. Very good versus burn/lightning bolt decks. I do think your list is missing a sweeper of some sort in the main. Dragonlord Atarka or Walking Ballista are very good and oftentimes worthwhile preboard. If your meta is very combo or control heavy though, I can see relegating them to the side like you have.
The decks im most likely to face are Grixis Death Shadow, affinity, burn, storm, and dredge,
Today I could test the deck, and I have to say I loved it.
It was a 4 round local tournament.
1 game: 1-2 vs Kiki-Chord
First game I was outnumbered with tokens of voices. Second game I had bigger threats with trample. Third game I left him at 1 life, no luck finding a Regisaur Alpha or Lightning Bolt, since he got more creatures.
2 game: 2-0 vs U Tron
It was a custom variation of this deck. When he was able to play, I let in a Zacama, Primal Calamity that would wreck his artifacts. Second game he just got flooded.
3 game: 2-1 vs RW Humans
First game, I got wrecked with both thalias in game and a lieutenant. Second game Torpor Orb on 2nd turn did his job and I won easily. Third game ended up in turns, I got 9 mana in game, casted a Zacama, and wrecked one of his swords and wiped out his creatures. I won in the 5th turn.
4 game: 2-1 vs Green Stompy
First game I only started with one land and 2 utopia sprawl. When I managed to enter an elf, he Beast Within my only land. Easy win for him. Second game, I could manage to enter all my big daddies, same for game 3.
Overall: 3-1, 4th out of 14th players. Tomorrow I'll post a list of the sideboard, and what I would like to introduce to it.
Awesome. Looks fun. I can see you having to aggressively mull with all the big creatures, but i think thats what most big creature decks have to do.
Was it ever difficult to get to the 5 cost? What do you think about See the Unwritten?
I really was missing playing Zacama and Gishath, but because of the white color, in a Ponza shell it wasn't viable.
Then I remembered that I had Dramatic Entrance. As we ramp a lot, we can easily start putting into battlefield the big dinosaurs with instant speed. The only creature that cannot be put into play is Etali, but there are just 2 copies.
I added Anger of the Gods and Lightning Bolts to main for those more creature based decks like humans, as they run much more than us.
What are your thoughts about including Dramatic Entrance letting us play bigger threats?
2 G/R lands
1 Arbor Elf
1 Utopia Sprawl
1 Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
1 Regisaur Alpha // 1 Ghalta, Primal Hunger
1 Raging Regisaur //or change this one for another land card, and draw it on 2nd or 3rd turn
Even Ghalta can hit the battlefield on T3 (1 from elf, 4 from Goreclaw, 4 from Regisaur and 3 from Token)
T1 G/R land + Arbor Elf
T2 G/R land + Utopia Sprawl + Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
T3 with 5 mana + 2 reduction for regisaurs or alpha + ghalta, we play them and attack with all of them, except alpha, striking for 13 damage with trample with both regisaurs or 18 with trample with ghalta.
Thanks it was a quick build. I really like the way Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma Looks on paper. I am hoping can make it work def looks fun.
I've played with both and tbh, cast out has always been on top. The flash side and cycling alone make it superior and allow you to interact with problematic cards at instant speed. My main use cases for it locally is that we have a few breach moon players, being able to snag an emrakul, the aeons torn that could be game breaking is pretty sweet.
Ixalans binding has it's uses but everything i wanted to effectively nevermore I will just use nevermore instead, I can't ixalans binding crytic command for example.
The problem i find with the tron example is that they have several ways to simple make us get rid of ixalans binding, karn, ugin, all is dust, o stone to name a few. I think it's good, but i don't think it suits martyr from testing with it.
Thank you. I have limited testing with both. Was looking at O-Ring also since i really want to use Sun Titan as at least a 1 of. How is O-Ring vs Cast out. The Flash I am sure makes a big difference, but O-Ring can come out earlier
In my opinion, Cast Out is much better than Ixalan's Binding: Flash and Cycling is far superior to a narrow upside (stoping casting spells with the same name)
I like both cards but testing is definitely needed. Have you played with both?
I think that Ixalan's binding is a great card over o ring. I am going to try it in my build. I am working a build that can handle the tron match up with the new angel. I think that angel is the key to that match up. Once you get a fast serra ascendent and drop a resplendant angel you can put so much pressure on tron it is not even funny. I would play surgicals and crucible in that match to screw their mana. Binding does wonders in that game because if they do land a laate game Karn or ugin you can binding them and play stony silence to shut up O Stone. Forgive me if I am pointing out the obvious. I am new to the deck. And i only have two months to build and prepare for a modern pptq and tron is popular in our area unfortunately. That is at least that is what I keep hearing.
In my completed build i will prob have surgical in the side. Just missing the budget for it since i just ordered the Layline and others.
I agree on Ixalan's Binding it can possibly stop other things coming so might be better than a few. Cast Out Vs Ixalan's Binding is a tough choice though since Cast Out does have flash so testing is prob needed
