The shapeshifter spells like Nameless Inversion and Mirror Entity are super busted with all the Eminence commanders. In particular the tribal shapeshifter spells like Nameless and Crib Swap get infinite value from Haakon, Stromgald Scourge in play. Haakon already goes great with the Vampire madness/discard synergies and now he gets to spawn free 1/1 bodies with recurring removal spells.
"Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy definitely has too many elements in its favor to remain eligible to the Command zone. In order to open the diversity of the format, Jace, Vryn’s Prodigy is now banned as a commander."
Pardon my ignorance, but since when did Jace dominate the 20hp meta? To me he's always been the outlier, with low metagame presence but high conversion rate to top 8. Unless the opposite has happened recently and he now has less top 8's but a greater metagame presence I don't understand how banning Jace improves diversity, since he was never much of an influencing factor in the format. Wouldn't giving Baral the axe be better for diversity?
Decided to give league another try to see how the meta had changed, ended up facing 4 vial/kraum decks and one breya... Guh I really hope they do some big changes next update, the format is so stale and toxic at the moment.
I sold my collection to bots, ended up raking a hefty profit due to the commander staples inflation. Bought in with 600 tix and sold everything the other day for just under 1000 tix
I mean, Mystic Confluence jumped from 17 to 70 tix in a month!
@Magicmarvin: I never really got into Hearthstone, but from most accounts Gwent is a much fairer game than Hearthstone because of the lower RNG factor. I find Gwent more fun for this reason as well as the general gameplay which is very unique, but it's all up to personal preference in the end
I've stopped playing MTGO leagues until they fix the banlist on the 24th but from my experience I never faced more than two Tasigurs in a single league if I was unlucky, whereas I would regularly play four to five CONSECUTIVE Baral decks in a single league. You have no idea how frustrating it is losing to a turn 3 or 4 Polymorph off Mystical/Personal every single time. I would gladly take Strip Mine+ Crucible over it because you have to at least assemble those pieces and I can respect that. I do have to commend WotC for taking swift action two weeks from the format induction.
Everyone is getting on the Baral train now. I just vs'ed 4 Baral decks in a row. The only way to beat it is to play Eldrazi Ramp or monoblue/Tasigur. I hope they make some changes really soon, as it's getting super stale already.
Maybe it's time to build Jund bluehate with nothing but discard and land destruction. Boil, Boiling Seas, Tsunami BFF.
I 5-0'ed with Prossh and 4-1'ed two times with him. It does well against Baral and Tasigur because of the speed, especially with Dark Rit, Ancient Tomb, Grim Monolith and all the other elves and 2 mana ramp spells.
Can you share your prossh list pls?
You can probably squeeze in Magus of the Moon or Wasteland somewhere.
Leovold matchup is about saving a critical mass of counters until you can safely bounce Leo at EOT with counter backup and then combo. Currently I run 6 bounce spells: Snap, Into the Roil, Cryptic, Unsubstantiate, Mystic Confluence, Cyclonic Rift. They're probably not enough if you're seeing alot of Leovold because he disables our cantrips like you said so your chances of seeing any of those six bounce spells becomes much lower. In that case I would run 2 more bounce/removal spells. Some noteworthy bounce/removal spells are Commit // Memory, Repulse, Submerge, Engulf the Shore, Mind Harness, Psionic Blast, Vapor Snag.
I think in general if they play Leo on turn 2 on the play you should just play Jace anyway and pray they don't have Aluren or Timetwister. The odds of them having that straight after a turn 2 Leo are low, plus they're tapped out and won't get another chance to resolve him until it's too late. From there you stall and cycle dead cantrips with Jace until turn 5 or 6, which is when you should try and High Tide combo or Reweave into Ugin.
Wait what? Losing to a netdecker who plays your own deck slowly and suboptimally is deserved? Fyi I stopped playing Jace after the first two days because I'm testing nonblue ways to beat monoU and Tasi. That and I'm not keen on playing Jace mirrors
Dunno about laggy but my client is crashing alot, like at least once per game and it takes nearly 5 minutes to reconnect properly.
Also some guy netdecks my day 1 Jace list on wizards daily decks and ignores me in-game when I ask him how he likes the deck so far...adding injury to insult he takes so long that he only manages to win with 20 seconds on the clock. His deck is even featured on today's daily decks
Also I'm maindecking carpet of flowers in selvala monoG and prossh and it's pretty broken. Haven't tried choke yet but it seems worth a shot!

I never knew Earthcraft could be this busted in Selvala. I went full ham on turn 3 without casting Dreadnought or Soulgorger once
T1 Wild Growth, T2 Selvala, T3 Utopia Sprawl same Forest > Earthcraft > Scryb Ranger > Oblivion Sower > untap Selvala with Scryb > cast Birthing Pod > Pod the Scryb for Fierce Empath getting Woodland Bellower, Woodland gets Wirewood Symbiote > Untap Selvala with Symbiote, bouncing Fierce Empath > cast Sakura to net 1 mana with Earthcraft > cast Empath to get Ulamog and win (1 mana short off Emrakul v1 as usual)
I went 4-1 in my current league with Selvala, ironically losing in the 4th round to a guy who copied my exact list from Wizards website LOL

Mate you got lucky. In one of the leagues I played it was 2 Baral, 2 Jace and 1 Tasigur out of the 5 games.
