The man turned to Disell, who had him by the arm, "And what are you suggesting, that we just leave her here to suffer? I'll grant you that her entrance was...worrisome, but what if she were trapped here before? Are you willing to leave a woman defenseless and disrobed to her own devices when she is gasping for air?"

The man looked at Erick with a visage of disbelief. "She can barely breathe, and you're bearing your steel against her and demanding identity?"

The man didn't wait for a reply; he began making his way to the mysterious woman.

I don't blame them. I still pre-scan all of your posts for "dracolich" just out of Pavlovian conditioning.
The man, relatively oblivious to the state of the corpses, quickly scanned the room for anything that could contain his missing equipment.

When he finally becomes aware of the corpse's movements, his mouth hanged agape for a few moments. When he managed to collect himself, he said, "I agree. We got what we came for; nothing good can come from a place such as this."

The man takes the cloak from Erik, wraps it around himself the best he can, and uses the fallen captor's sword belt to hold it all in place. "Thank you, Erik, was it? This will serve, but I would be pleased if we happened upon my actual equipment and provisions before we get out of this place entirely."

At Tiran's urging, the man nodded. "I'm ready to be moving again, if nothing else."

Come on, guys. We can do a better rate than this.
The man nodded. "Well, let's grab the title and get moving. Should our collectors double back, they will have us in a terrible position. I can only hope we find my gear along the way."

The man turned to Tiran. "I would ask for a cloak in the interim, but considering our introduction, I doubt that would be proper." The slightest smirk formed on the man's face.

So I'm frustrated and in mourning and am not sure what's going on. Today, 19 wildland fire fighters died in the Yarnel Hill fire. 19 out of 20 of an elite hotshot crew from the city of Prescott, Arizona. A sister city to mine, just over the mountain not 30 minutes away. I trained there last march to be a type 1 fire fighter. I tried to get on a fire crew, but was not able. Now the fire rages, 19 are dead, and I'm not there. 200 plus fire fighters are deployed, the city of Yarnel is destroyed, and I'm not there.

I don't know. 19 are dead. We train for that. Fighting the flanks, avoiding flame lengths above 3 feet, deploying shelters when the **** hits the fan. But 19 dead...that shouldn't be possible....Not in this day and age...that shouldn't be possible...

Holy ****, sir. I'm glad you weren't there, but that is insane.

The man nodded once, and started to approach the man on the ground before stopping and turning to Tiran. "I mean to retrieve my scabbard. You don't need to worry about my blade again, so I hope you show me the same courtesy."

As the man cautiously approached the fallen brigand, he continued "They took my possessions from me before locking me in this place. This fool found my blade to be to his liking, however, so my most essential equipment remained close." The man fumbled with an ornate sheath on the man's belt, leather died black with a silver mouth. The length of the scabbard was inlaid with oval jets and lined with silver stitching.

"Did any of you happen upon where they kept the rest of my belongings? I do not fancy leaving here in this state if it can be avoided."

"Surviving" Is all the man answered before he released Tiran. "I couldn't take the risk that you were more of them." He said as he indicated the fallen man with his blade, which sat between a shortsword and longsword in length, featured a nastily sharp, curved edge, black fine leather handle, and was adorned with a silver swooping hawk on its pommel. The blade was obviously castle-forged by a master smith.

"Now, what became of my captors?"

I'll let Caex handle the rest. All I can really run from here out is my character.

Also, I apologize for the delay the last few days. The end of my week was a madhouse.
As Tiran approached the slumped figure, it continued to show no signs of life. When he got close enough to check for sure life, however, the being lurched out of the chair, the ropes that bound his feet and legs slipped to the floor without restraint.

In one fluid motion, the figure jumped forward, slipped its long hair back over its head, and brought a curved blade against the throat of Tiran. "Don't move" the man whispered softly, his ice blue eyes staring into Tiran's own.

Those eyes turned to the the rest of the room and party. The soft voice grew stern and the eyes gained the wild quality seen from an animal with its foot in a trap and the man said, "I will have your names, the whole lot of you. Speak them quickly and keep your distance, or you will see another one of your friends' lifeblood on these tiles."

We can deal with rolls here if we need, but I'd prefer to keep this to a simple roleplay if we can.

...a small tiled room, dimly lit and slightly hazy from the few torches lining the walls. The tiles are each a deep blue, each adorned with a silver crescent moon that dances in the flickering torchlight.

The room would be astoundingly beautiful but for its contents. On the floor before the party, a man lays prone on the crowd, a visible red line on either side of his throat; his lifeblood pooled around his form and staining the otherwise immaculate tile. From the looks of the body and the color of the blood, the man was only recently made into a corpse.

Behind the fallen man, in the center of the tiled room sits another, bound hand and foot to a heavy chair. The man is relived of the majority of his clothing, and slumped over, unmoving. His long, straight black hair hangs low over his legs, and his pale skin is adorned with fresh cuts and bruises. As far as the party can tell, he is every bit as lifeless as the man that so recently bled out.

But rises again, harder and stronger.

I need to do something other than watch Game of Thrones and read Feast For Crows. That's basically been my week thus far.

Damn it, Ria, you made me look up that French. The I felt silly because I know I have said that before, just never read it.

    So, stop that or something.

Honestly, if the Called thread were to close at this point I wouldn't bat an eye. I have friends on here that I will still be friends with years from now. I need to do a better job about checking in every now and then, but that's a complaint even my local friends could make.

Thread or no thread, ya'll are stuck with me.

How are the boys these days, Ria?

@LN Saugeen Shores sounds like it was a blast do you have any pictures for us? Congrats on the approaching end to the high school period of your life. Any plans on university work?

@Daggs Congrats on the raise, good sir. I'm sure they'll get the parking situation resolved with all due haste if they're willing to give you more money to work there. It would be terribly backwards to give someone the first pay increase in years only to ask them to walk to get to work.

I'm enjoying the first few days of quiet after a busy semester. School is almost done for me as well, and I'm hoping that I can have better luck than some of my friends and their chosen fields.

Birthday was last Sunday. Got both seasons of Game of Thrones on Blu-Ray and my cousin and her boyfriend got me Soul Sacrifice so I'd play it with them. I bought myself a giant bean bag chair for my gaming room. When I say giant, I mean this.

Other than that, not much is new. Still single and dating, still doing some random internet work, and still somehow getting by with odd jobs and relative self employment. Life's right where I want it.

Living in a cave with spotty internet. Have lost a lot of interest in this place, likely selling my cards, etc etc. School & spending my free time learning about neuroengineering while I stare at the sea.

    You know how it is.

What would be the best way to get a hold of you these days? I'd love to catch up at some point.
