Thoughts? They just killed a lot of decks currently in the format. This is a HUGE meta shift and a lot of current decks will die out. I think they went way to overboard on the bannings.
As much as I love mono blue I don't think it can be a tier 1 deck without a lot of tinkering. Mono blue can be a very good deck but fails against other control decks like teachings and 12 post. Other control decks just seem out match compared to the strength of 12 post. I'm not a fan of 12 post, it's a very easy deck to play compared to other control type decks in this format. Also bant wombo combo deserves to be tier 1, no questions asked.
I was told to post here... so I will. I played Mono Blue at the cockatrice tourny (went fine and dandy until I mull to 5 with a tec for my only land). I gotta say this deck does have Tier 1 potential in the Modern Meta. This deck is great against scape shift and random Aggro/mind range decks. Only thing I have trouble is against 12 post, dredge and modern teachings. I've found some neat tech for the mono blue that I think has been over looked by a lot of people by there low keyness. One of them (this is my favourite) is evacuation. If you saw me play you saw these in my hand at points in time, they can be a life saver. Against dredge where they go for a 1 turn kill, playing evacuation will completely cripple them to no point of return. This card is great against aggro and token decks, just not so much against other control decks. Another card which I'm surprised I've not seen mentioned is bribery. It is probably the cheapest and biggest threat a 12post deck can face. It's a 5cmc emrakul in your hands against them. use gigadrowse fallowed up by a bribery next turn and you essentially just win with there own cards.
