Why is one of the most powerful card selection spells in the game in BG?!?

Assimilation Aegis looks really good for UW(x) Stoneforge Mystic decks.

Generally speaking I think shot the sheriff compares favorably to Power Word Kill, but in OTJ limited it may be just ok. Still a card you're going to want for your deck, just maybe not premium removal if it can't hit half the creatures.

Shoot the Sheriff doesn't compare favourably to Power Word Kill in Modern - while Power Word Kill fails to kill Murktide Regent and Scion of Draco, Shoot the Sheriff commits the bigger sin of failing to kill the more common Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer.

Jup. It wasn't populated. The only "man" made thing on the entire planewas that vault. And this vault was built centuries ago from the Fimori, an ancient race of giants which somehow were able to travel between planes without omenpaths and without being planeswalkers.
Jace and Vraska were looking for the Fomori-Child which was hidden in the Vault. It seems that they want to use it to "undo their mistakes"... whatever this means. I think the close the Omenpaths with it or restore the sparks. But only time will tell.

After all, this set just doesn't feel right. Even if all the outlaws of the multiverse would come here to get some loot... why the F would they dress all the same Grin

My personal bet is that Jace wants to rip his implants out, presumably with Fomori transmutation technology. I predict the whelp is either a non-sentient beastling who can't help or is sentient but will refuse to help (possibly the equivalent of the Fomori sticking their child genius technology programmer in stasis in the vault).

It funny to me how "plants" is written normally in the flavor text.

Sudden normal script in the middle of italics is typically how emphasis is done in italicized passages. It's the equivalent of sudden italics script in the middle of normal text.

Well Aven Interrupter just stomps on Rhinos and Living End in Modern.

You have to sneak the Aven in before they cast their Cascaded-into spell, or they just cast their no-mana-cost spell again one turn later.
No, because cascaded spells are cast from exile, so just having this on board means they have to pay an extra two mana to resolve the Rhino/Living End

Ah, so you cast it before the Cascade trigger resolves? Makes sense, then.

I don't think I'll be reading the story this time, anyone care to explain how an Oltec guy (from inside the core of Ixalan?) ended up inside a vault on this plane?

    long story short

Remember the coin empire in caverns it was the fomori

so Clearly some the Oltec stuff they stole was in the vault that explains the dinosaur as well

The dinosaurs are shown on the cards as being teleported in or created by Fomori technology. I need an explanation for how this Oltec and enemy of the Fomori showed up. Walked through an omenpath? Heard the bad news while in Ixalan?

So, Rakdos' motivation was that he was wanting to brawl with someone? What about the PHYREXIANS less than 2 years ago?

    Thats the point, from the legends bio for MKM;

Rakdos is the demonic head of the Rakdos Cult. Since the glorious carnage and destruction of the invasion, none of the usual amusements staged by his followers have managed to rouse his interest. Plagued with boredom, he allowed himself to fall into a deep slumber, where he relives the chaos of the invasion while he waits for something new to pique his interest.

and here we go, Oko or Ashiok/Jace promised him something different/fun to fight on Thunder Junction.

    From the story, chapter 6:

"WHAT AN AMUSING TIME!" Rakdos bellowed through the open window nearby. "I HAVE NOT HAD THIS MUCH FUN IN DECADES!"

The invasion was less entertaining than fighting one cowboy dragon?

I suspect Akul was less of a danger to Rakdos than the Phyrexian army was, so Rakdos finds this fight funner. Rakdos seems to be the kind of demon who grits their teeth defending their home plane, finding it rousing but too stressful to be fun. (See Rakdos's part in the War of the Spark storyline for more details.)

And as many have commented, the mishmash of random legends feels odd and forced. Gonti is aetherborn, so shouldn't they be dead by now? Don't they live like a year tops or something?

Gonti has an artificial heart Saheeli had to fix at one point. Some other Aetherborn can suck out life essence from others and extend their lives by hours at a time. (A lot of those Aetherborn vampires still want to die once their maybe-4-years lifespan is up, such as Yahenni, who eventually kicked the bucket on their own terms.)

    Huh?!?!?

There were no Dinosaurs in that vault in episode 6

At least the cards pretty much confirm that the Big Score and Maag Taranau are Fomori-constructed.

...and have space-age tech. And might be making thoughts into reality. Or maybe 3D printing dinosaurs. Tough to tell.

Sadly, Episode 6 leaves behind the massive plot hole of not revealing where the Big Score is.

    just posting for a moment

You guys absolutely sure the Fox Jace is a "What if" thing.

because episode 6 of thunder junction just did a big reveal turns out the Ashiok on Thunder junction was actually Jace in Disguise and he and vraska were the ones after something in the vault. and it turned out to be a some infant that was in Hyper sleep inside the vault (likely a fomori)

what if how we go to bloomburrow is Ral zarek finds out thats where jace went.

And it turns out that Jace is still a planeswalker and still has his Phyrexian implants in as of Outlaws of Thunder Junction. Maybe Jace isn't a "what if" and actually does show up.

Bloomburrow already probably has a case of "They Look Just Like Everyone Else!" when it comes to Phyrexians - it's very possible that Jace is still not right in the head. (I'm still standing by the theory that the calamity beasts are just waking up long enough to flush out nasty intruders, and due to Bloomburrow turning all its visitors into talking animals, finding intruders is difficult.)

I actually think this was a disappointing ending that created too many holes in the plausibility of the storyline.

For a set that the mothership admitted was originally going to have an Aftermath set, the ending impacted the multiverse shockingly little.

Our crew went all the way to Maag Taranau for no items of the Big Score at all in that vault?!? We didn't see any scenes of anyone burgling that vault before its spare, living contents were taken away in front of us - where were the Sword of Wealth and Power and the Nexus of Becoming actually resting?!? Was the golden mist in the chamber really obscuring the Big Score?

"Ashiok" being Jace after all isn't completely surprising given how OOC for Ashiok he behaved...but why did Jace disguise himself as someone who doesn't want material treasure in the first place and nobody thinks is connected to the treasure by default?

At this point, that was probably the real Ashiok in Eldraine given their lack of OOC behaviour there.

Given that Jace surrounded himself with an illusion for what was probably a week or more, how come Annie Flash didn't see through it in initial encounters? ...Messing with Annie's mental visual feed in addition to crafting the illusion? There's also the part where it's implied that Annie finally saw through some of the visual illusions but not all of them in Episode 6...

And then there's the description of the horned, tailed whelp Jace pulls from the vault contrasting with Kellan seeing "Vraska standing behind a man Kellan didn't recognize. In his arms was a sleeping child." Is the child or whelp an illusion? ...Probably the child, right?

I do like how impromptu Kellan and Oko's duel ended up being and how Rakdos admits he was lured with the promise of something akin to "action and fun worth waking up for", though.

To be honest, sounds like they just got a cat. how we know its fomori or not?

Yeah, I'm not quite sure that's actually a baby Fomori, either. It could be a baby "Fomori-chimp", rather like how the very occasional human keeps a baby chimpanzee as a pet for a while.

Could Firja from Kaldheim be an option? I mean she killed another valkyrie. Mark already stated that villian doesn't mean inherently evil. And there is this answer, too.

Given that Nashi (probably one of the good guys right now, though his line of work will always be a little shady) and Obeka (brutish and too fond of fights but probably neutral) are in Thunder Junction right now, I say dang near anybody's possible.

What did Bertram Graywater do wrong?

"No one should have that kind of power," Kellan countered. "But he's a better choice than Akul, or Bertram Graywater."

"I agree with you," Ral said simply. "Which is why I want to make sure whatever is inside that vault stays locked up for good."

I can see Kellan being a bit too loyal to his father to want the treasure to go to Graywater - but why is Ral agreeing with him that the resulting lock-up won't be under Graywater or the Sterling Company's dominion?
