Loved the nods to cards that these letters provided and I think they will be foreshadowing Dark Ascension
I see Raben becoming a big player in Dark Ascension perhaps he will become a monster who hunts other monsters. Just like there are some Ghiests that are aligned with White in INN (Or Saint T who is WU) who fight to protect the people maybe we will see him become a WB or WR Human Demon/Horror who is extra effective against other non-humans. Hell maybe we will even see the Bloodletter as a legendary equipment or White aligned villains to show the corruption in the church.
Unruly Mob - Any classical Horror movie (mostly Dracula or Frankenstein) where the mob descends upon the evil dudes lair/castle/windmill to yell and throw stuff till either the hero rocks up or the monster comes out and fights them off. Sometimes they will trash the place only to have the evil dude escape and plot revenge at the start of the movie.
Unbreathing Horde - Dawn of the Dead or any classic zombie movie/book/TV show.
Heartless Summoning - Not horror related but the picture of the people/zombies on meathooks reminds me of that scene in The Godfather. (I think it was Godfather)
I would LOVE to see some references to stuff like Springheeled Jack, Jack the Ripper, Sherlock/Moriarty, Hound of the Baskervils, King in Yellow and other Horror from Beyond type stuff (though Eldrazi cover this pretty well), the Auditors from Discworld for the pure fun points.
Slightly disillusioned with Modern at my LGS at the moment. Decks played by other people are either woefully under-powered and offer little contest even to my majorly nerfed Dragonstorm or are the higher level players who are currently into Legacy as we are helping our LGS owner make a Braids deck. Because Braids has a soul, true fact. It does, he talks to it and one time he hugged his wife in front of it and it proceed to refuse to work for the rest of the day. Also looking into building budget Dredge.
You know I am still not sold on Snappy > Peer for Storm decks. Also speaking as someone who is trying to develop PiF Storm I have no no place for EITHER in PiF.
I was just testing around with this deck against affinity i had to storm to kill everything early but then on turn five i played out the entire storm and hit 194 damage, impressed me for a first go at it. Something like 49 storm towards the end.
Mmm you can actually Storm out a low damage Grapeshot to get rid of stuff like that early on if it means buying a few extra turns, you can simply flashback everything later
How is Ascension working for you? It's a curious card to play in this deck.
Really well actually. Helps with that storm count AFIK, makes Manamophing into 2cmc for 4 mana of any colour and draw 2, and theres nothing like "Grapeshot with storm of 24, twice."
I've been playing with Desperate Ravings and been liking it.
I've also tested burning inquiry and am less impressed. I don't really ever wanna pitch 3 cards, whereas with raving you only pitch one. Also, I am liking the flashback aspect of ravings quite a bit.
I like to draw a lot of cards in testing, but I don't like to randomly pitch the ones I need.
The current package I am testing is
4x Peer Through Depths
4x Serum Visions
4x Sleight of Hand
3x Desperate Ravings
and it is doing well.
That is the package I was running till I swaped to this Pyromancer Ascension build now I am running

Maybe I will change Inquiry back to Ravings pitching 3 is a bit risky.
Anyone ever use Remand? You can Remand your Grapeshot and play it over again. This makes it easier to win off of smaller Storm counts. It can also serve as tempo versus the faster decks. I used to use it with Gigadrowse back in the days of old standard.
I use Remand and Drowse heavily in my D-Storm deck but not in PiF. I think Ascension maybe a good call, burning Inquiry isn't helping much though more often then not I toss 3 cards which I want in my hand.

T2: Shrine of Burning Rage, Swing if no Blockers
T3: Removal of blocker or another Shrine of Burning Rage, Swing if no Blockers
T4: Koth of the Hammer, Swing if no Blockers, -2 into 4 Red, Goblin Grenade, Brimstone Volley
Assuming no Blockers: 1 damage on turn 2, 1 damage on turn 2, 11 damage turn 4 plus 4 or 5 counters on Shrine/s.
Feels good man.
