Just took down our local PPTQ.
I don't remember all the games, but I had tons of misplays which cost me at least 2 games.
First time playing Modern & Infect since the rise of Death Shadow, which I managed to dodge.
My list for reference:
I've been working on a primer writeup for the deck and came across the dragon build. Seems interesting but a little more cute than substance. I could be wrong though.
Godo is an entirely new concept to me, might have to goldfish it a bit to see how it feels.
A 5 year announcement on cards that have less than $10 value.
A 10 year timing for everything else.
Prices would drop, then creep back up.
You'd have to be careful. People have these things in vaults, basing their retirement off of them. It isn't good for a company to be untrustworhty to their market.
And even after they are allowed to be reprinted. Bring particular things in slowly.
It cost Wizards so little to print cards. They really should be giving away promo Tokens to everyone who plays at FNM, and then a better rare token for people who do well enough.
It wouldn't hurt their sales and would encourage people to get out there, because free things are a great motivator. Even if it would be super common.
Didn't Wizards at one point say that 3 were obvious and one was a surprise. Is the cat supposed to be the surprise or does that imply that the one we don't know is more obscure than we might be guessing?
I feel that could be an interesting smallpox build. Losing the best conditionless bombs in the format does hurt. Without moon the game is a lot more uphill. I think exactly one person in the entire thread has a list without Moon.
Maybe start a thread in deck creation and post a link to it here so everyone can give their input without derailing the thread.
In reality most of what people talk about are changing the 2-8 flex slots.
Discussion over cyclers is like asking someone what their Serum Visions / Sleight of Hand split is, except we run 25 of them. In the end they are all about the same spell. Fulminators are like running mana leak in the same list. Some people cut it, others are horrified at the idea. Beast Within is removal which some people cut for more dig, like in any combo list.
Every once and awhile someone will play with the colors, like in any combo deck.
If you look at most people's lists they vary only about as much as any twin list did.
-Also list get a lot more consistent with every deck right after a big tournament. But the longer you go without the Pros playing the more wild lists tend to get.
Inventive combo, you have my regards. A full 5 pieces to make it functional is hard, but a challenge is what makes a fun deck.
Pretty much the entirety of what I was going to say has been said by aslidsiksoraksi. I'd personally look at the more combo brew but the agrro one is exciting and no one would know what hit them.
Congrats Jtelgan! Your list looks like a really good assessment of what's best for the overall meta. How did you feel about your Wurmcoil verses Thragtusk split?
The want to find a one sided wipe more consistent than Bonfire of the Damned is real, but it's currently the best option. Others include:
Lavalanche (How much are you willing to risk adding a color?)
Clan Defiance (ability to take care of a problem and burn out an opponent's face but lacks the wide approach)
Bringing hope to the phyrexians.
How was that UW Control match? That one always feels rough to me.
I haven't been playing Infect much recently but the last time I took it our to free play the guy I sat across was playing a Solemnity combo deck.

Wishlist: Black Kor.

It's good to hear that there will be some vague attempt to make this format UNderstandable.
I like the more realistic tone these seem to have over previous uncards.
