Thanks for the very informative post. Smile

Regarding Jace, is the correct number two, three, or two main and one side? I figure 4x Jace isn't correct, even though everyone seems to be jamming the full 4 into any deck running blue.

Did you all see Hooglands list on Gathering Magic today for BtL? Not impressive, but I like the manabase (because it's identical to mine Smile )

Saw the same article and his list had me intrigued, since I'm looking for a few URx decks to jam Jace into. What's the list that you're running, and why exactly is Hoogland's list bad? I don't know enough about BTL Scapeshift to know what's optimal and what isn't.

Thinking of getting into this deck. After reading a bit of this thread, I can't figure out if it's worth picking up Dark Confidant or not?

Perhaps a dumb and impossibly broad question, but how does Kiki-Chord look going forward after these bannings?

I've had to step away from the game for the past few months due to personal reasons, and I decide to come back as the boo-boo is hitting the fan in a big way.

If you're looking to dive deeper on black Crime // Punishment is also an option.

As someone who doesn't want to drop a ton of tickets for a second Explosives on MTGO, I'm intrigued. Is it also possible to get this card back with Eternal Witness?

The Nahiri/Emrakul argument boils down to the meta you expect to play in, if it's very narrow and you don't expect to need a lot of silver bullets the Nahiri/Emrakul package is great. If you think you're going to have to run a few more bullets/high impact cards then trimming down to 3 Nahiri/No Emrakul is probably where you want to be. That said, Nahiri is a card you probably almost want every single game, but there are going to be times where you'll draw the Emrakul and never see a Nahiri a few games in a row and you'll hate the damn thing. The Emrakul line offers less diversity and more chance of being susceptible to some game plan that could've been blown out by a silver bullet, but the inevitability it offers can often be fantastic.

Sort of related, but would it be terrible to attempt running 3 Nahiri/1 Emrakul?

The best feeling in the world is having an Engineered Explosives for Death's Shadow Aggro and all their annoying 1-drops.

I've been running some Pauper Leagues since we've entered Eldrazi Winter, and I've been going with Mono-Black Control. Can anyone tell me if the RUG Tron matchup is bad, or am I just playing it wrong? I've ran into the deck about 4-5 times over a couple of leagues and I've lost to it every time.

Has anyone given Damping Matrix a try? Stops Drowner/Displacer activitions, which seems reasonable. Hoses a decent portion of other decks as well.

As someone considering making the jump to this deck (since it seems fairly solid against Eldrazi), how necessary is Jace, Vryn's Prodigy? Realizing that I own every piece aside from that.

Pretty sure it's time to sleeve up something else or step back from Modern for a while. Good luck everyone.
I'm right there with you. I've given up running Kiki-Chord on MTGO leagues for the time being, and I'll play UG Infect at my local shop until the next B&R.

. . .and the meta's answer is to develop Prison style decks that stop Eldrazi from being able to use their cheap, high power creatures in combat.
I really doubt the Prison decks are going to do much. Feel like they'd be putting up decent results on MTGO if they were actually good decks.

Maybe this is a bit off-topic, but here's the results from a recent MTGO PTQ. The winning list looks like a very good answer to Eldrazi, and it also happens to be Eldrazi itself. Blink your Skyspawner/Drowner to outvalue your opponent, more fatty-removal in the form of Path to Exile, win the mirror with Worship.

I've been enjoying Chord, but it definitely feels poorly positioned right now, and I'm not sure that the deck has a correct answer for the format as it stands now.

Are there any good Kiki Chord streams around aside from Jeff Hoogland's? I can't stand the arrogance anymore.

Hoogland is definitely one polarizing dude, and I'm sure you're not alone.

Still, he's easily one of the best Kiki-Chord pilots on the scene. Even if he were drinking orphan blood between matches I'd still watch, because I need to absorb that knowledge.

Can i see your decklist? Myr Superion is just for fun XD
I've been staying close to the stock Hoogland list, give or take a few cards. And speaking of Hoogland, he posted an updated version of his Kiki-Chord list-

    http://themeadery.org/decks/deck/8597/

He added some Eldrazi-hate. Painter's Servant, Worship, Dismember to deal with higher-toughness Eldrazi. Though I'm surprised at there being no Fulminator Mage in the main and only 1 in the side.

Maybe budget discussion is frowned upon here, but Worship spiked to $25 and Painter's Servant to $35. They're fine hate cards, but I wonder if it's worth picking up tech for Eldrazi when it'll probably be hit in the next B&R announcement. Though I couldn't imagine going to a larger tourney right now without some anti-Eldrazi cards. I'm attending a Modern Showdown at GP Houston and I'm hoping that a combination of Worship, Ghostly Prison, and Sigarda, Host of Herons will save me against Eldrazi, but I doubt it.

Regarding Hoogland's list, I've never understood why he's so against Gavony Township. I've always liked running a 1-of Township in place of Horizon Canopy to allow us to go wide with dinky Birds/Thopters. I've also been wondering if it's correct to move from Orzhov Pontiff to Izzet Staticaster, since being able to repeatedly plink off Eldrazi Mimic and Eldrazi Scions seems pretty relevant right now.

Moreover, the comparison with Ancient Tomb is very superficial (i.e. in a vacuum). Tomb is a broken card in 2 insanely powerful formats, Legacy and Vintage. Tomb allows crazy things on T1-2. Eye doesn't reach as much power in this restricted format that is Modern. The comparison is catchy but deceitful.
I also don't see how people are comparing Eye of Ugin to Ancient Tomb, since Ancient Tomb can't make 4+ mana on the first turn, while being able to tutor up creatures late-game.

I like how people keep saying it only dominated the Pro Tour when its been ripping Magic Online a new one.

I doubt I'm the only person staying away from MTGO dailies/leagues until the next B&R announcement.

http://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/372045#paper what do you think about this list?

I am intrigued. I've been on something very close to the Hoogland list and running 1 Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker/Reveillark in the 5-drop slot. Not sure if dropping Reveillark for Archangel of Thune is correct, but having access to two combos instead of one is interesting.

Also lol'd at the Myr Superion. That might be crazy enough to work. It definitely holds up well against Reality Smasher/Dismember, though being an artifact hurts it a bit. Still, I wouldn't mind Chording for it.
