    A:
    1 Underground Sea (Revised, NM)
    1 Volcanic Island (Revised, NM)
    1 Polluted Delta (Onslaught, SP-EX)

    B:
4 Force of Will (Alliances, EX-NM)
    3 Scalding Tarn (Zendikar, NM)
    2 Verdant Catacombs (Zendikar, NM)
    1 Misty Rainforest (Zendikar, NM)

I'd be column A. There are several things on my mind. Firstly, both fetches and Revised duals are at peak prices, historically. This makes it a decent time to unload duals, but a poor time to buy into fetches. I hate trading out reserved list cards, I've lost every time. Third, these cards are available because I've pretty much decided that I hate Legacy TES. If I do this trade, I will have my Modern Twin deck 99% tuned, be only three cards from Modern Living End, and be six cards away from Candelabra-less High Tide. Fourth, we just saw the long-fabled FoW reprint, possibly meaning that we won't see another reprint for awhile.

I understand that three years down the road, I'm almost guaranteed a loss. However, I SUCK at this deck apparently while I typically top 4 every night I play Twin in Modern, which nets much more Magic funds than simply owning Revised duals. This, combined with my new-found interest in High Tide, is the reason I'm even entertaining the idea. I paid/traded for Underground Sea @ $170, Volcanic Island @ $110, and Polluted Delta @ $75. This is another reason I'm sorta comfortable with this. If I go forward with this deal, should I be asking for more value since my stuff is technically more scarce. If so, how far off am I?

Should quadlaser just replace City of Brass with Mana Confluence ASAP? In what situations would it be inferior. Angel of Jubilation is one example I could think of.

If the opponent doesn't want you to see his or her sideboard, there is ample opportunity for that player to concede. I also would consider it rude to just start grabbing at someone's cards.

  • posted a message on Constructed Format Views
A little bit of background...I began playing in 1996, quitting and selling most of my stuff in 2000. I resumed playing in 2011, playing mostly Standard for a year. Currently I play Modern, Legacy, EDH, Pauper, Cube, and Limited.

    Standard
A boring format where nothing happens until turn four. Once you buy into a $400+ deck, it's worth $50 in 1 1/2 years. I played Kessig Wolf Run and five color Delver as my last Standard decks, so I may be a bit spoiled but from Thragtusk to Restoration Angel to Pack Rat, it's a format I'd rather avoid. On a side not, since I quit Standard I have dealt with less jackwagons overall. The negative power creep is currently making Standard a poor investment as well.
    Modern
This format is so cool. I can't get over how great the gameplay is. The only problems are the extremely severe price spikes that have occurred and the volatile banned list.
    Legacy
My favorite format. A land base costs over $1000, which is unacceptable. Were it not for the cost and potentially decreasing interest, I'd recommend Legacy to everyone.
    Vintage
The format is unarguably dead. It would be great if everyone could play Vintage, but it is evident that the end is nigh.
    EDH
A still-growing format that allows for infinitely diverse game-states. Don't be surprised if EDH outlives every other format of MTG.
    Pauper
I may have lied when I said Legacy is my favorite format. I have 12 Pauper decks and hope to eventually have dozens of them. I don't play MODO, but Pauper allows me to play a very diverse meta.
    cube
A very risky format, Cube can be very stale of the absolute best format ever. It all depends on the Cube and also on the drafters.

There is a phone number on the back of the sleeves. It reads TEL 03-3864-0343. Google searching that phone number leads to Kato Km Corporation. It's hard to tell (as I don't read Japanese) whether this is the manufacturer or just the exporter. Either way, the international trade log shows that Kato Km provides Tundra, LLC (the sole US distributor of KMC sleeves and owner of the aforementioned website) with its product. I think it's safe to assume that Kato Km Corporation is as close to the source as you can get.

Edit: The address is 4 14 11 Kuramae Taito, Tokyo, Japan.

So what colors would you recommend for a "free for all" deck? Red and Blue? maybe?

That's not easy to say. One multiplayer idea I've been kicking around is white/red Assemble the Legions lockdown with Smokestack, Ghostly Prison, Archange of Thune, and Wrath of God.

Instants are good because you can decide which opponent is more of a threat and deal with it when it is relevant, not after you've already been hit once by a 10/10 Mistcutter Hydra. Redirection effects can be pretty amusing, early blockers are one of my favorite assets. If you were going to play Drain Life, the you should play Exsanguinate instead. Cards like Seedborn Muse, Consecrated Sphinx, Mimic Vat, Sylvan Primordial, and Wight of Precinct Sixare pretty good.

I think the curses go against the 2 for 1 principle. If they said enchant 'all' opponents, they'd be great. Also, as far as politics go that player you cursed will probably be coming after you for cursing him. Additionally, the third player will be attacking you since the cursed player is currently less of a threat (due to being slowed by the curse).

Magic is very much a game about resources and incremental advantages. Multiplayer s less about incremental advantages, and each card must do powerful things. You have to assess what a card can accomplish on its own.

A basic example is any sort of 3 damage burn spell. Your opponents collectively have twice the resource of life that you need to burn through. That means that you can't really afford to play a card like Lava Spike because it doesn't do enough to attack their resources aggressively. The same goes with targeted land destruction. You want 2-for-1s and 8-for-1s, like Day of Judgment and Consecrated Sphinx, not 1-for-1s.

Also, 'politics' usually come into play. If you play Splinter Twin, for example, you will probably win the first game but get hated out of the rest. The current winner of the arms race is usually the target of the other players and it turns into two against one. Politics also are a resource. If you can give an opponent a reason not to attack you for three turns, you may as well have Ghostly Prison in play. If that player has big creatures and decides to attack the third player (because attacking you is not ideal) and then you cast Day of Judgment, you've essentially done more to advance your strategy with x number of cards/turns than your opponents have with the same number of cards/turns. I would say to play combo purely to win, but in the interest of not pissing off you friends, maybe a midrange control deck? Also, the 'critical turn' is usually a little later in multiplayer.

61 cards is reserved for turbo fog.
