The Release Notes for OTJ (found at this link: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/feature/outlaws-of-thunder-junction-release-notes) say that at least one additional cost must be chosen to cast the spell.
Spree spells are modal spells and the lines given are modes. You must choose at least one mode of a modal spell as part of casting it.

This caught my eye as I am making the exact same swap. I think Midnight Haunting is still fine but not really necessary while I'm also cubing Spectral Procession, Battle Screech and Lingering Souls.
My other swaps are going to be:
In: Éowyn, Lady of Rohan Out: Militia Bugler I'm not 100% sure on this swap but I at least want to try out Éowyn as I do support a Boros Equipment deck. I like how she still does a thing if you don't have an equipped creature. I don't like how I find it a little tricky to see myself drafting and playing her in a non-Boros White deck. Maybe if you also draft a Barbed Spike or Citizen's Crowbar?
In: Meneldor, Swift Savior Out: Skyclave Aerialist I like Aerialist but I have quite a few 2-drop fliers in blue and I like the ones with Flash more (Faerie Vandal, Threnody Singer and Zephyr Sentinel. Meneldor is great in the Blink deck and should still be strong outside of it.
In: Grishnákh, Brash Instigator Out: Giant Cindermaw Cindermaw is cool but is just a generic beater. I like cards that give multiple bodies in Red and Grishnákh's instigation hits 61.7% of creatures in my cube (118/191 have power 2 or less and are not legendary).
In: Entish Restoration Out: Invasion of Zendikar I like Invasion of Zendikar a decent amount and it hasn't had enough time to truly settle in but I want to try out some more ways for Green to fill the Graveyard (and it especially helps Erinis, Gloom Stalker).
Quote from rancoredmalone »Since (some of) y'all are cubing Midnight Haunting, I wonder if anyone looked at Shadow Summoning.
I want to check my own expectations here, but the card I kept thinking about is Expressive Iteration. No one runs Divination, but a fair number of people run a worse guild version of it at two mana.
People are playing Midnight Haunting (exactly 1 more person than plays Expressive Iteration, per the 2022 Cube Survey), so is doing a worse guild version at 2-mana interesting? And with everyone talking about Orzhov sac outlets, having multiple bodies also seems good too.
ETBT is a bummer and certainly matters in lots of situations. That said, it's a minor drawback on curve.
I definitely would not consider Expressive Iteration to have a worse effect than Divination. The selection it gives you is absolutely massive. Even if it cost 2U, it would still be a better card (IMO).
That being said, I don't hate Shadow Summoning and I think it's cubeable. But, I don't find it very exciting when Gold cards can be replicated by mono-coloured ones and have pretty basic effects. -

- First of all, the text says "A GRAVEYARD", which suprised me. Its a combination of Dire Fleet Daredevil & Snapcaster Mage.
- 3/1 flyer for 3 is not a bad floor.
- Can be cast for 4 and efficiently flashback Fatal Push, Ponder, or even Reanimate.(Dimir is the reanimate color pair in my cube)
This feels like an autoinclude for me. What do you guys think? -

I haven't seen any mention of this unless I missed it. White has great removal, but it's still worth pointing out.
With the off-color kickers, I think it would be fully fair to play a few additional guild slots for color-tinted cards. These could be hybrids, or cards with off-color activations and upsides. These cards aren't truly guild cards and don't tax a mana base as harshly. It's hardly the first time they've done this. With my bigger cube, I've marked color-tinted cards but I just let it go. Ancient Grudge is a red card and it's fine. But if (when) I build my next cube it will have color-tinted slots built in to the gold section. Every guild has good options. -

Rosy Dumplings posted a message on Maro Teasers for Domnaria UnitedSo… I’m going out on a limb to predict that the blue wrath will 100% replace all destroyed creatures with phyrexian creature tokens (flavored as sleepers revealing themselves) as a sort of curse of swine type card.Posted in: The Rumor Mill -

FunkyDragon posted a message on Decks to lend to bad players?I have a budget Tatyova, Benthic Druid deck that I like to loan out. It's good for new players or bad players. It generates so much card advantage without being overly complicated to play. I mean, Simic landfall-draw a card is hard to screw up.Posted in: Commander (EDH) - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I get it, you are Johnny, you like to express yourself with your deck building, not everyone is like that, in competitive magic they are all Spikes and will play whatever wins. You have to decide what you care about more, winning or expression.
I say this as a Johnny that will spend months and years tuning a sub-optimal strategy to the maximum of its capability but I know that sometimes I am just going to get run over by a net deck and that's on me, not my opponent.
The only person with blame here is WotC for pushing mythic harder and harder until standard breaks and you can't play with a highly synergistic deck filled with uncommons.
I have a bunch of "cute" UR decks you can try out if you want to play something rouge.

"A concern of many players is that these cards would not be widely available, and for some countries, only available through third-party sellers. They worry that this model will be repeated in the future. We’ve heard you loud and clear on this issue. Because the cards are mechanically unique, this is the major problem most folks have. We wish that all of our friends around the globe had access to these cards. However, the RC of its own accord can’t solve that problem. What we can do—what we already have done—is add our voice to yours. Since this issue broke, we’ve been in contact with well-placed people at Wizards of the Coast to make sure that they understand your displeasure and where it comes from, as well as urging that they work towards a solution."
The RC clearly understand what the problem is but they don't have the power inside WotC.

I reconnected with my cube players at prerelease, a combination of virus and work commitments meant I hadn't seen them in a while, I intend to give my cube a draft in another week.

the only exception is if you are using steal/clone effects and might steal a creature with an activated ability.

I live in the capital city and I was talking about that, just the store that closed was in the country.
Federally sure politics is trash, ours isn't great but at least took COVID threat seriously since March. I am suggesting you go to your State and even local governments they are much more responsive to citizens. They need to keep their small business running or they might never recover.
How to stop the spread: 2 months lockdown, everything except supermarkets/pharmacies closed, 2 person groups only, mask orders. I am not sure if the USA constitution allows the closing of state boarders, but there needs to be people checking every single border and giving out 2 week stay at home orders.
Once you stop community spread you can start testing and carefully tracking sporadic outbreaks that will continue. locking down apartments and suburbs following the persons travel history to find where they got it from. Test and Track. just doing testing isn't enough you need to track where they got it from. The testing needs to be free or people won't get it done.
A further 2 months of slowly allowing more businesses to open and larger groups to meet.
The economy is just gone its too late to save it, forget it! save lives instead. You effectively need to hibernate the economy until the emergency is over. No rent, no rates, no power or water bills, no one gets fired but everything is closed. You need to have your local small business to still be there when you get out of lockdown so their bills need to go away until they can open. The economy is dead just go into however much debt is required to solve the problem, doing nothing or doing a huge amount are both bad but only once saves lives.

I think these should be more like jumpstart where they are themed around something in Zenidkar.
