This seems like it's going to be a pain to go up against. Maybe try to add the skullclamp for draw power or some other form to keep the hand from running dry.
Brainstorm is fairly underwhelming in Azami because if you don't like the top 3 you still have to draw into them. That's why I use Ponder (and, less spectacularly, the fetch lands).
Yes another Librarian EDH deck. This is more to archive the deck than anything. It is a semi-casual build that has some things you may not agree with as being 'good' but this is definitely not optimum. Before anything else I want to show you this and this. They are great sources of Azami knowledge and provide more detailed and better lists.
So this deck, as you have probably already read, is made to abuse Azami's draw power to gain gobs of advantage over the opponent. My build is a combo build but I have seen some with beater packages, usually tutorable via Treasure Mage. I do aggro in Ib, I don't want to do it here.
Azami, Lady of the Scrolls + Mind Over Matter = Filter through your deck until you find Fallowsage. Play Fallowsage and net one card per filter. Filter through your deck and play Elixir of Immortality. Use the cards in your hand to get a metric crapton of mana with MOM. Recycle your deck and do this as many times as you want. You get access to your whole deck and infinite mana. You should be able to do fun things.
Spell Crumple/Vendillion Clique/Spin Into Myth+Tunnel Vision=One of my favorite combos in here. You essentially mill your opponent to 1 card, giving them one last turn to try to do something before you just draw-go to kill them.
So there you have it, a less than optimal list but it does well in my meta and it's fun to play so who cares. Any criticism, comments, revelations, etc. are encouraged. Good luck with your builds.
My friend was just trying to trade for a herd for me a few days ago. We thought it would be hilarious. It was also before I found out that I got a Wild Pair in my overpriced grabbag so I'm kinda thinking about it. It fetches Palinchron. Wait is that you David? I was just looking at the pic like, "David loves that pic" and you're from Orland.
@piche
Thanks for the feedback. I probably should swap the Temple of Karona. As for the others, I have Man-o'-War but I really don't like the stalker and the drake. They only are in the build to pump Animar and nothing else whereas man can surely do that, but also bounces opponents junk. I feel the others just take space that could do more disruptive or better things. The herd was just a joke because it's a semi-casual build. Thank you though.
I need more card draw though - in the second game (again) I had a bigbig Animar (13 counters at one point) but no cards in hand for about 3 turns. When you draw a land it's not much fun..
More later, I'm "working"
Viperion
Why you no play Mulldrifter/Wall of blossoms/other cantrip creatures. My Animar build abuses these regularly to keep my fist full as well as FoF Sphinx. My list is different but is in my sig if you wish.
I just thought about it in Azami again and I realized that you can use it and immediately follow it up with draw a bunch of cards, you can basically tutor for 7 cards.
That's why I run it in my semi-casual Azami list. It can be pretty bonkers if no one Grips it.
Hello everyone! This is my first post on here and I'm throwing up my Animar, Soul of Elements deck. I'll start by saying that Animar is a very fun Gen. I decided to build a tempo deck because he is so suited for it. I found some of these ideas on Salvation and Youtube(like the silver signet) but it is mostly my preferences and such. So, on to it!
Birds, Treespeaker, Iron, Silver, and Copper Signets: This deck really likes to be able to play things if Animar can't get out right away so these guys help.
Lotus Cobra: This is partially in because I love them and partially in because we run a bit of land fetch that we can recur on a regular basis, so yeah, mana=Good.
Sol Ring: No Explanation Needed.
Coiling Oracle: It's cheap and if it isn't land dumping, it's card draw.
Solemn: He's just good for one, and can do funny things that I'll get to later.
Ondu Giant: This would have been Farhaven Elf but A) I can't find mine for whatever reason, and B) This guy gets my 6's when Wild Pair is out.
Primeval and E. Map: NEN
Creatures that aren't Mana:
Clone and Metamorph: Versitile General hate. They can also save your ass with Palinchron if you screw up on your mana and help in a plethora of other ways.
Mulldrifter, Kozilek, and Wall of Blossoms: Card draw. Kozilek is also a colorless non-artifact creature. Hello Curio and other free Eldrazi:D
Sphinx of Uthuun: Fact or Fiction on a big stick.
Jin: He's just a mean card that screams "PLAY ME!"
Primordial Sage and the Storyteller: These guys are draw power that doesn't get bounced and benefit us most of the time.
Man-o'-War and the Cloudskate: Recurable bounce. I normally don't use Man to bounce itself to pump Animar because that is usually a waste of mana.
Duplicant and Ingester: Good removal. Also, with Curio and Wild Pair (and enough counters on Animar), we can tutor out every creature in our 6 total p/t suite. (Solemn can do this for our 4 suite.)
Exarch, Empath, Fauna Shaman: Creature tutors. Good maybe? Exarch can also get rid of pesky non-creature permanents.
Drift: Usually tutors for Curio or Equilibrium but we have quite a bit for the Smily Spirit.
Trinket Mage: Gets something out of our trinket suite or land if your desperate(or just want more land)
Slime and Shambler: Blow up non-creature permanents(Slime doesn't his Walkers:mad:)
Riders: Land destruction. I would love to have a Goblin Settler in here too but it's $13 and I don't want to spend that much.
Kavu and Hellkite: Blow creatures up. Hellkite can blow players up too which is nice.
Terastodon and Ulamog: All your whatever I want dead are belong to the yard. Ulamog is also used to blow up entire fields when bounced back and forth with another Eldrazi.
Artisan and E. Wit: Recursion
Venser, Snake, Whelk, Archmage: Counter stuff and are instant speed bounces for Curio.
Husher: This card is also instant speed bouncing but I've found that it counters opposing tops going onto thier library. Oh, you want to draw? Well I say no. Acidic Slime says thank you for the rare treat.:D
Mastermind: Bounce my stuffs.
Urabrask: Haste my stuffs.
Seedborn Muse: Opposition lock and other fun.
Teferi: Turns your deck into one whose turns are taken before your turn.
Palinchron: Infinite mana and bounce is nice.
Artifacts:
Top: NEN
Relic: This is more of a meta choice. It's Trinketable so I put it in to hose my buddy's Vorosh deck which has some Yard love.
Greaves and Boots: Animar is still very vulnerable to bounce, burn, Beast within, Terastodon, etc. So we have these to help with that.
Curio: THIS CARD IS AMAZING! If you haven't already seen it in action, do so. This lets you bounce all your stuff so you can do it again. It also enables infinite combos.
Enchantments:
Survival: This is a deck with over 40 creatures. Enough Said.
Dance: Most notably General hate. It can do other things if you need it to but I think I'm going to switch this to Phantamal Image.
Equilibrium: A lesser Curio that trade infinite combo for bouncing other peoples stuff
Opposition: We don't attack that much so this locks down other creatures, lands, etc. Can also lock out opponents completely with Seedborn Muse.
Warstorm Surge: I really couldn't tell you whether this is good or not in here because I haven't drawn it once since I put it in but the idea is that we are playing creatures all the time and bouncing them to play them again, so why wouldn't it be good. I'll post when I find out how it is.
Wild Pair: Another one I haven't drawn yet, but this is because I just put it in yesterday. I'll post to tell of its merit.
Non-Creature Spells:
Rite of Replication: This is a card that is auto-included into any EDH build with blue that I make. It's fun and it either kills generals in a pinch or you get 5 of nearly anything on the board. I won the other night by kicking this on an opposing Woodfall Primus when the other 3 players had 3 creatures max.
Beast Within: I can has green Vindicate. Yes please.
Gameplay:
This deck is somewhat straightforward but I'll take you through some of the interactions. Animar can be a fast tempo deck when playing against certain decks or a slow, grindy aggro-control build if we're kept off the General. In most cases we want to get him up to speed and some bounce outlet so we can start rebuying our dudes. Also, it is beautiful when we set up our locks. These include:
Seedborn Muse/Opposition: We play enough creatures to make this busted and a half. If set up early enough, this can shoot the table automatically into the scoop phase.
Curio/Counter Creatures: This gives us the ability to essentially Forbid whatever we want. This lock is usually not brilliant until a Muse is thrown into the mix.
