Sold my collection with mtgotraders, their quote came fast and the staff was very helpful throughout the process. This past week has been an ordeal and buying of collections temporarily were closed, but they still honored the offer they made me afterwards so I'm glad to see they stand by their word. Would highly recommend.
I was just thinking about this, but people are always complaining about modern not getting cards reprinted in standard because the cards are too good for standard, so why is it nobody is just tossing their arms up and doing a format that's all modern frame sets? It's basically legacy light, avoids the reserved list, and ultimately it's probably going to get all the non-RL cards eventually since wizards doesn't have an issue with reprinting those cards via commander, conspiracy, Battlebond, etc. Is it just because they are afraid the format will make the game too expensive? It's not like a ban list can't exist for it and such.
Umm Modern IS the new card frame format.... Also welcome to the world of legacy and vintage we have been complaining about "too strong for standard so we can't reprint great format staple X" for a long long time. Again Modern is that format, their are no reserve list cards legal in modern, Good modern cards are repritned in sets like the ones mentioned now and again. This format exsists.
Guess I'm thinking more of a no reserved list legacy format that takes advantage of reprints and new cards from supplementary sets. The only difference is the card has to have a modern frame version.
If you have the same card but one is an older frame and one is a newer frame, the rules do not allow you to discriminate against the older card frame.
He means he wants a modern-esque format where Force of Will and Sol Ring and other recently reprinted cards are legal because they've been given the new frame treatment. Says nothing about not being able to use the old frame version, just that it has to have been given a new frame. Basically like he said, non reserve list format.
I'm the owner over 10 Kaladesh Inventions including Sol Ring, Mox Opal, Mana Crypt, and Mana Vault as well as a Stronghold Mox Diamond that have all gone up in value over the past few years. I know they're nothing compared to beta cards and Power 9 but they're still the most valuable things I own and as much as I like playing with them I get more and more worried about using them in my decks because of their increasing value and the possibility of theft.
What advice or practices do you use to keep your most valuable cards safe while still enjoying playing with them?
A creature class I really liked back in the day that could really use support is Nomads. Sadly don't think they're popular enough to see any new ones coming out.
That said I'm hoping for an Angel theme deck since they are my favorite creature type of all time.
My Simic list dropped the three big mana ramps and put mox diamond and grim monolith in their place, deck is still fast, but now it also has a lot of game ending bombs to go along with its already combo wincon in the form of Upheaval to reset everyone, Prime Time, Sylvan Primordial, Sundering Titan, Emrakul, and Prophet of Kruphix to cast them all at instant speed. I'm sorry but I rather have my fast mana back and lock those guys away when it comes to playing multiplayer, I just feel dirty playing the deck but I'm going to keep at it to prove a point to WotC, that their banlist creates unfun situations in multiplayer and having to wait until July is stupid.
If you're looking for feedback, I wonder if you want to make the tokens in Harsh Wastes Human Warriors? They sure look like Warriors in the art. Also, on most cards these days tokens get sacrificed at end of turn, not end of combat. You might consider changing this to be consistent with other cards (and therefore player expectations).
Ashwood Titan is a cool concept, and I would love to play with it, but I wonder if it would be too un-fun and annoying to play against.
Thanks for the feedback. Your suggestion for Harsh Wastes is a good one, adding the warrior type and letting them stick around until end of turn is a fine change.
Ashwood Titan was inspired by Weatherseed Treefolk by replacing trample with fight. Might be un-fun like you said though I like the suggestion Honor Basquiat made.
Ashwood Titan is very strong. Perhaps instead of returning it to hand when it dies, it would be better if its controller may put it on top of its owner's library.
Shaori, Historical Keeper is excellent but very pushed, probably too good. This would see play in Modern for sure. I would love to build an EDH deck around this one. This is basically better than draw a card on a 2/2 body with flash which we have never gotten before. This card would probably need to be 3U
Cursebearer Angel is way too good. Curse of Death's Hold cost the same mana and should give you a good idea of power level. If your card were to not change, it should cost something like 4BBB.
I like the suggestion to have Ashwood Titan go on top of the library, probably more balanced than back to the hand.
Shaori is meant to be pushed as is probably obvious. She's a 2/2 for 2 that has flash and if she sticks around nets you some cards back so I expect her to be high on the kill list for opponents, that's why I made her vulnerable to pretty much all removal. I gave her flash so that she is more likely to net at least one card back before she dies. I could see adding a clause along the lines of "If you return a card this way, skip your draw step." if it proves to be too good.
Cursebearer Angel does need a new look at I agree. Original design was I wanted a black Eleshnorn that was cheaper to cast, didn't buff your guys and had a smaller body. Problem is she has flying and the set is designed to turn on threshold pretty quickly so I agree some changes are needed. I'm thinking of making her body smaller, maybe a 3/3 and upping her cost to 4BB.
Thank you guys for your feedback, just want to say there are more cards in the gallery if you want to comment of any of them as well, I didn't have a lot of time to write out text versions of them all.

When I first started playing I wanted to build a dragon deck, so any dragons were high on my wish list. At the time my friend had a Volcanic Dragon which I just thought was the most amazing thing ever, I mean it's a dragon and it can attack the turn it comes into play!
I always thought the art made sense, the barbarian is using his willpower to resist the burning of the flames. It's a mind over matter type of thing which is very blue.
Was hoping for Desolation Angel but I'm still happy with the product. I like all the alternate arts this time around and can't wait to add this set to my collection.
I just bought my first playmat (don't recall them being around much when I originally played) which was done by the same artist as one of my favorite cards, Desolation Angel. Pretty excited for it.
I've been toying around with a custom set featuring three mechanics: cycling, undying, and a brand new one called spellcraft. I'm trying really hard to keep balancing in mind but I do have a tendency to make pushed cards so if you see anything that's too good (or for that matter unplayable) I'm open to suggestions.
