One of the most powerful things in Magic is having Card Advantage. curiosity seems like it would this deck a bunch of it. A lot of our enchantments help us hit our opponent so it should be easy to trigger the ability.
With courosity, we might be able to perform better latter in the game by having a full hand after our opponent has used his.
@Illinest. With your list, if you draw got only non hexproof creatures, how many enchantments do you pour on them? If you dump a bunch on them and then they get killed, it seems you would then be loosing card advantage.
In addition, what our your conditions for keeping an opening hand or mulliganing with your current list? It seems you have been playing this archetype longer than i have and i wanted some tips. Thanks.
1) i think it will be a blast to draft. I think it is awesome they made the set draft-able, Even through that means the inclusion of non money cards to limited work.
2) yes it is what i expected. I expected a set geared to reprinting SOME, but not ALL of the value cards in modern. I fully expected them to save goodies for standard or mm2 and 3. I dont know why people complain about the lack of inclusion of every money card in modern. If wizards was going to print that, it would be more of a giant from the vault release that WOULDNT be draftable. Just imagine the going price of a pack of something like that. The price of that sort a pack could be over $50. That would be stupid. So yes, i expect the inclusion of a good number of value cards but also a lot of not so value cards as well.
3) i bought my box at $235. From what i can tell, the odds are pretty good that i will at least make that back. But hey, i DID NOT buy this as an investment. I bought it to draft and hopefully get some cool stuff. I think the people who bought mm purely as an investment will the most unhappy with the set. I think they would have been better swerved by investing in the stock market than in mm. Mm is equivalent to a very high risk stock to investors and thus is that a good avenue for financial development. The set wasn't meant as a nod to hoarders and hawkers. It was meant as a limited environment where some modern cards could be reprinted.
4) no
5) why would you hold on to a box of mm when the outlook is so speculative. Heck, you might make more money off interest/dividends in blue chip stocks over the same time frame. And those are more stable than magic.
I second the idea that thoughtsieze is coming to standard. That would drop the price of it a lot more than it being in modern masters. It wouldnt break standard either. Just give it new art and it can fit in any set. Also, a friend of mine mentioned that wizards has a trend of returning to a block/plane seven years after it was released. They did so with mirriodin and ravnica. That means the expansion after theros will be a return to lowryn. If thouhtsieze hasn't been preprinted by then it will for sure get reprinted in a return to lowryn block.
@Illinest. I Like your list a lot. I might try giving it a go. I am also a fan of 61 card decks. To be honest, i have been in situations were that extra card has made the difference between a win and loss.
I don't know what is the big upset about there not being slivers in black and blue. I think having just naya colored slivers is fine as those colors are usually the most aggressive. what is the big deal here? What am i missing that make black and blue slivers so important? Perhaps wizards doesn't what to have 5 color sliver decks while shocks are in.
Here is a question: does into the wilds land accel count as your land play per turn? I am thinking not. I am liking this card a lot. It has so much potential and can probably be broken. Edh will love this card. Not sure if it is standard playable, as it doesnt garruntee accel. Not to mention, turn 4 is a little late to start accelerated mana.
What is this decks answer to liliana of the veil? She seems to be a hoser to this deck. What i have done is sided in Strangleroot. That way i can still have a creature afterwards. What have you folk been doing vs lili?
I have been looking for a good bant based deck and stumbled upon Bant Enchant. I have to say, I like the idea of the deck. I am usually an aggro/combo player so this deck suits me well. It reminds me of my Modern Infect deck, only the creatures seem more resilient. Well, here is the list I put together:
Now for some explanation:
One thing I added in that I haven't seen elsewhere is a singleton Civic Saber. The idea is that if I lose most of the enchantments I have played thus far, I will still have something that I can use to pump a new creature. With the amount of amount of dual color creatures in this deck, Civic Saber is usually going to give +2/+2. This is as good a buff as most of the enchantments. I think It would add some resilience to the deck. It seems to be perhaps an overlooked card. I also usually tend to run 61 cards just so that I have a little more against mill and that if I am on the draw, both me and my opponent have equal library size.
As for Ascended Lawmage, I am playing this card because I don't have additional copies of Geist of Saint Traft. I am running 22 lands so I should be able to cast it on curve. It has a decent body and has 2 forms of evasion.
I am running Loxodon Smiter both as a defensive creature and as a potential beatstick. If you give him a Spectral Flight, he then is a 6/6 flyer. That is pretty decent. Even if he just sits there, he is a 4/4 that can block a bunch of stuff all day long. He also dosn't die to Searing Spear.
I am considering replacing him with Voice of Resurgence. I am just waiting on some income to purchase Voices.
As I see it, There are 3 core creatures in this deck. They are
If you are running 4 of each, and you want to have 20 creatures, that leaves 8 creatures to fill that gap. It seems that they are either Fencing Ace, Smiter, Voice, or Strangleroot. I have yet to find out what is the optimized inclusions.
I am running 2 basic lands instead of checklands because I want to have a higher chance of having my other checklands coming into play untapped. If for the first couple of turns, all your land comes into play tapped, your game is slowed pretty hard.
As for the Sideboard, I am running Sigarda for those matchups that have a ton of Edict effects. Even through we run 22 lands, we have the mana dorks that could allow us to actually reach 5 mana reasonably early. Sigarda is also a great target for buffs and is a great body. I am running negate if I am up against a matchup that has a lot of board wipes. Mending Touch should help there too. Fog and the Strangleroots would get sided in against Aggro. The fog would basically timewalk there combat step while the strangle roots provide a decent blocker as well as attacker. I would remove the charm and the stalkers against an aggro matchup. Ground seal is for Renanimator.
I have been mostly just goldfishing with this deck. It seems to be able to win around turn 4-5 with a decent start. One thing I was looking for is for some advice of how to mulligan with this deck in a tournament setting. I think know how to mull with this deck is going to be something that differentiates a good bant enchant player from a bad one. I would appreciate some pro tips.
Any comments and criticisms would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Here is a little explanation. I really like garruk in the deck. Here is strong after a verdict. You play a biomancer and get 5/5 beasts. That is a win condition right there.
I like both cloudfin raptor and experiment one. They should keep pace if I hit my curve. This keeps my turn one play relevant turn 4. I like drakewing krasis because he flies. That should allow him to get some damage in.
I like gyre sage because she will help speed up the deck. If she stays in play and gets counters, she can provide a ton of mana. I can dump that mana into the guild Mage in response to spells to draw cards or ramp to play more threats. She also gets beefy eventually.
Biomancer because him and evolve go together like penut butter and jelly. You run evolve you probably should be running biomancer. He resets the evolve curve to your dudes growing. You untap with him and your in good shape. He is also a good play after a verdict.
I am considering running 2 Vorapede in this deck. He would provide resilience against verdicts and I could keep triggering undying by removing the +1/+1 counters. He is also an effective beater.
Another possibility is Prime Speaker Zegana. She would a excellent play if you have a decent board. She will give you extra gas to win. I would like to include her in the deck, but am unsure what to change. I would also need to tinker with the manabase if I included her.
Speaking of options, Snapcaster Mage might be an interesting choice. You could pull some shenanigans with it. For example, on turn three, you could play snappy and flashback rapid hybridization targeting snappy. You get a 3/3 and hopefully triggered evolve twice. An option.
I don't yet have a sideboard planned. Not sure what to include in it.

What is the communities thought?

If they have 5 colors of slivers, there will have to be a mana fix/accel sliver, else they wont be playable in standard.

What do you think should be included in the two cmc slot?
I'm thinking our options are:
Strangleroot Geist
Zameck Guildmage
Invisible Stalker
Shambleshark
Gyre Sage
Snapcaster Mage
And how about in the 3 cmc slot?
Again I think our best options are
Wolfir Avenger
Drakewing Krasis
Elusive Krasis
Latch Seeker
Discuss and voice your opinion and why you think so.
4 Cloudfin Raptor
4 Experiment One
4 Gyre Sage
4 Zameck Guildmage
4 Drakewing Krasis
4 Master Biomancer
2 Thragtusk
2 Rancor
4 Rapid Hybridization
4 Simic Charm
2 Garruk, Primal Hunter
Lands:22
4 Breeding Pool
7 Forest
4 Hinterland Harbor
7 Island
