There is plenty of time, it's a two week trip, I can drink beer, visit castles, explore the city and play cards. Also, cards are way more cheap on europe than here

Dont beat Junk, it is fair, beat the unfair decks.

And for the love of god, no one mentioned Batterskull, that is the real 5cmc game breaker, not Baron, nor Sigarda, Baron is ridiculous, it dies to lots of stuff in the deck, Sigarda is very annoying but it is just a wall and can be killed with some combat tricks and be walled by souls.
On the other hand, batterskull only dies to Pulse at a tapout, the junk player may be able to delay your batterskull, but not respond it and a 8/9 Vigilance Trample Lifelink creature is very good, a 5/5 flier too

Im trying tomfigure out why people think that Twin will eat a ban, it is one of the only decks that got very very few cards since the creation of modern, if it got one. The only diference is that it decided to play a more controlish game instead of all win

Tasigur is really brtter, the extra toughness is what holds Rhinos, Goyfs and opposing Tasigurs from walking past your defenses, the ability is better than what it looks like, it makes you win the grindy matches, as the ability dodges lands all you'll get back are removal and creatures, the discard is delved and additional discard you'll hold when dredged by tasigur

How is she "an excellent engine"? She draws you a card every other turn on average. That is pretty bad. The -2 is alright, but it forces you to play your cards at sorcery speed. I see why people like her, but I just don't think that she is good enough.

Let's see, you are drawing extra cards for free, you can double some nasty cards like Supreme Veredict, preventing your opponent from playing creatures, so you can focus on opposing spells, Lightning Helix for extra life, Telling Time for even more cards.

I remember people saying that Tasigur was bad.

Narset, she will see play, have no doubt about it, she may even spawn a new archetype.
7 loyalty is a lot, she very slappable on turn 4, she can survive an attack against pretty much everything(unless you watched the aggro player nuke you passively), provided you untapped with her you've got an excelent engine going on as she will stick around.

  • posted a message on What is the reason for lack of Control in Modern? Weak Counter Magic, Card Draw, or Finisher?
    Card draws:
Peer Through Depths, Telling Time, Font of Fortunes, Courier Capsule, Night Whisper, Sign In Blood, Jace Beleren, Esper Charm, Sultai Charm, Compulsive Research, Think Twice, Catalog, Foresee, Blue Sun Zenith, Sphinx Revelation, also Beesech the Queen

    Resilient Finishers:
Manlands, Aetherling, Keranos, Batterskull, Inkwell Leviathan, Gifts Package, Empty The Pits

I wont list the tons of removal and counterspell Available

Basically, there is enough tools to play draw go, be good against a good portion of the meta, but not everything.

Even Abzan which is a tier 1 very strong deck has bad MUs: Tron, Affinity, Tokens, Living End.

Control could really use some better card draw, but I believe that the lack of blue based control is purely lack of effort IMHO, what people want is a control deck that beats everything, which wont happen.
Control already has Cryptic Command which simply wins against aggro, Mana Leak may be weak late game, but there isDeprive and a multitude of 3cmc counters that works like a charm late game.

For instance, for a couple of month I was toying around with a Bant Control deck during THS-BGS season and it was very effective, the deck finisher was Prismatic Omen + Valakut, no Scapeshift and featured Explore, Coiling Oracle and Wargate

For him to work on modern, put him in a midrangy Mardu shell with Bolts, seizes, helixes, pathes and the such, where every thing is must-kill threat: Dark Confidant, Liliana, Young Pyromancer, Butcher of the Horde and Mentor himself

Any advice for the BW tokens matchup? I run one Pulse MB and Damnation, EE and batterskull SB. I don't want to run zealous because if they have a pump out it does nothing as well as drown in sorrow which is situational. Anyone tried ghostly prison? Should I up the sweeper count? I just don't want to dedicate a lot of spots to sweepers that do nothing against other decks. I've been thinking of replacing the singleton gravedigger cage in the SB with a sweeper, just not sure which. Maybe bile blight??

I've also been boarding in fulminator mages. Are those correct? To keep them off a certain color or should I not be boarding those in. Any advice is welcomed guys.

Golgari Charm and Drown in Sorrow is very powerful against them, you'll often blast their enchantments with Abrupt for their tokens be out of range, if you play no Tec Edges, Fulminator is a good choice to blow up their utility lands.

Charms are also very good in other MUs such as Boggles, Twin, Affinity and Infect

Also, while Engineered Explosives is very powerful, it's a bad card to play if you have Stony Silence in your SB, as EE is used mostly against affinity, sure its golden against Tokens and Merfolk, but there are better cards.

List looks fine, though perhaps a little greedy. I disagree with this line though. Fulminator is much better than Rain of Tears. Being able to cast it early and then pop it whenever is miles better, and he often will block or attack at least once, gaining you more value. The ability to lay him down and wait for your opponent to activate their manland before saccing is huge value, even against Affinity. I've often found that choking my Affinity player on mana when he has a mana-intensive draw is the only way to stabilize. This is even more important against stuff like the mirror or UWR, where activating lands costs upwards of 3+ mana. Against Tron and Scape, you can attack them until destroying something is absolutely necessary, or block their big fatty on the way out when you're on the defensive.

Basically, Fulminator is great. Yes he's very costly on the wallet, but this is a competitive thread. Budget shouldn't be a factor. In any case, keep an eye out for MM2 and maybe we'll get a reprint to drop the price a bit.

I finally managed to borrow some fulminators, I knew they were better, I have money to buy them, but just refuse that much for a card that sees plays only on my side board with a 1 dolar which is essentialy the same thing(but I recognize the fulminator superiority)

    What is your list?

Notes: Down to 24 lands, when I played 25 I flooded too much, now is okay.
Want to take leylines since they are narrow, but even hardcasted ones wins against burn
Fulminator is too expensive for what he does, Rain of Tears is the same thing 99% of the time
