OP didn’t have the new wording ”mana value” in that 3UU draw spell, so this is probably fake. No way they would leave that info out if the leak was real.
(Hi, long time green devotion fan, first post in this thread)
Llanowar Tribe is seriously a huge upgrade for this deck and makes me excited to pick up Green Devotion again. Also very stoked about War of the Spark's Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner which I think is a sweet fit for the deck.
FYI there is a new take on the deck, with 8 manadorks, 4 new Narset and 4 new Teferi - 0 Eldritch Evolution - that is being popularized by Gabriel Nassif. He has been playing it a lot on his stream recently and I've gotta say it is really sweet. Been trying a variation of it myself.
Here is the original deck he took to a 5-0 finish in a MTGO Modern League:

The static ability helps vs control and also lets you flash in surprise blockers/making Felidar a Restoration Angel for anything that the opponent tries to blow up. It also helps ”draws” you creatures. The +1 is kinda meh but seems sweet in a race situation or just making a creature able to block a Phoenix or Mantis Rider. Plussing on a Voice of Resurgance token is actually very good. Also - it costs 3 so dodges our own Gaddock Teegs.
New Teferi is also a 3cc Planeswalker that lets us combowin safely. Probably not good enough for maindeck though. It’s also pretty nice to be able to Eldritch Evolution as an instant.
Congratulations nal2! It's great to see this deck finally having some results I was trying your deck on cockatrice and i have a few questions:
-Why so many lands? Isnt 27 just too much? I often got mana flooded
-When you are siding in your angels? What kind of decks are they good answer to?
-Are you fine with having just one win-condition? If you side in RiP and draw Form then you cant basically win right?
It's really important to drop a land every turn and/or to have double white on turn 2, that's why I'm playing that many lands. With the Temples I can also scry excessive lands to the bottom. But maybe 26 lands will do as well.
Angels are especially good vs Burn but I tend to sideboard them in in many matchups when the opponent side outs all their removal. It's also good to have an alternative wincon after sideboard when opponents bring in hate for the "combo".
Hi guys, new to the thread but long time Ideal fan. Just wanted to drop my list here that just 5-0'd a Modern Competitive League on Magic Online. Enjoy!
EDIT: It's been published on Wizards site now, sweet!
Just going to through my 5 cents into this and say: Vannifar is probable a trap (at least the whole Scryb Ranger plan). It's possibly fine to run as a 1-of, but not before the 4th Felidar Guardian and 4th Eldritch Evolution.
MarcWizard: Makes Oath of Nissa worse :/ I think the best replacement is Avacyn's Pilgrim, but that requires a Breeding Pool or Stomping Ground on turn 1 and another shockland (or basic Island/Mountain) on turn 2 if you want to cast Saheeli Rai :/
In other news - I crashed GP Stockholm and dropped at 1-3. It was just not my day and making two crucial misplays didn't help either. I did however manage a 4-2 in the PTQ on Sunday and got 40 Dominaria boosters so that's something.
I will be less active here until Guilds of Ravnica (and Knight of Autumn!) hits Magic Online. Until then - try to find a way to beat UW Control. That deck is rising in popularity and unfortunately our creature based combo deck is pretty fragile to it.
Emzed: Only played one league with the trackers and they only hit the board in one game in which they drew me three extra cards. Regarding Negates - I've never really liked counterspells in this deck since we tap out so much but decided to try them for the (bad) UW Control matchup. Ended up not playing against UW Control that particular league so can't really say how they perform in that matchup (although it should be decent I guess).
I switched back to Worship over Bridge after getting my creatures bounced/locked in hand vs Humans one time too many It's also better vs Burn.
maniospas: I think it's an error not to run Kiki-Jiki in this deck. It's a combo piece we can actually tutor for and is also great together with our other ETB creatures. Vs cards like Pithing Needle and Meddling Mage he's particularly important.
Managed another 5-0 yesterday, this time without Buglers. I think I'm officially over Buglers, they wiff too often and I don't feel we can afford more RNG in this deck. I switched them for 2 Tireless Trackers to be able to fight better vs UW and to have two cards that are good just on their own.
I decided to compare my four latest 5-0 decks and found the following similarities. Click spoiler if you're interesting
In other news, I 5-0'd again yesterday, hopefully the deck gets picked up on Wizards site. I'm getting very close to what I will play at GP Stockholm now, not 100% on 2-3 cards in the sideboard though.
The plan is to assemble the combo asap. The more time they get, the more likely they assemble Tron or get to five mana to crack a Oblivion Stone. Mulligan if you don't have combo pieces or sideboard cards.
This matchup should be pretty good after sideboard. Removal for their creatures come in and graveyard shenanigans come out since we are bringing in Rest in Peace. The last cards we take out, Bugler and Oath, could be something else, but we need to make some room for removal.
I'm not gonna lie, this matchup is our worst imo. There are ways to win, but we need to get a little lucky and dodge Terminus which is the main reason this matchup is hard (not getting die triggers for Voice of Resurgence is rough).
This has turned into a pretty good matchup for me lately, especially if they start getting too reactive. The way we lose is if they go aggressive with Mantis Riders and Thalia's Lieutenants. I would recommend NOT sideboarding in Izzet Staticaster here, simply because they run 4 Phantasmal Image. You can also sideboard in Stony Silence in this matchup on the play, on the draw I think it's a little too slow.
This is a classic "a little bit here, a little bit here" sideboard since no maindeck cards are terrible. We do have some great sideboard cards though and the plan is to land a Lone Missionary and start getting it back with Ralliers and Felidar Guardians. I'm usually trimming some combo cards here since the combo is very fragile vs their spells and we usally win by gaining too much life and value or locking them out with Worship. Keeping Acidic Slime in is also important I believe, mainly because of Eidolon of the Great Revel.
Again a "little bit here, a little bit here" sideboard, but here we bring in Rest in Peace so we can bring out some of our graveyard interaction cards. The upside with this matchup comparing to Burn is that they have less interaction so we can combo off more likely. The downside is Worship doesn't help vs Collective Brutality. Overall I think we're a bit favored in this matchup simply because we have so many blockers. Izzet Staticaster shines against Bloodghast, but can also kill Flameblade Adept with the help of Felidar Guardian.
vs Mardu Pyromancer
In this matchup I usually sideboard similar to the Hollow One matchup.
This is a grindfest and while it's tempting to bring in Rest in Peace vs their Tarmogoyfs and such, I believe getting back Voice of Resurgance etc is very good vs all their discard and removal. We don't have a lot to bring out here, but I usually take out some Eldritch Evolutions vs deck with lots of discard/removals and/or counters. Eidolon of Rhetoric is here for Bloodbraid Elf and we can even bring in Izzet Staticaster for their Dark Confidant.
vs Grixis Shadow
This sideboard is very similar to the Jund matchup imo - sometimes we can bring in Rest in Peace, although grinding back our Voices are very strong. I haven't landed on which approach is the best, but the Rest in Peaces are better here because it hoses both Snapcaster Mage and their delve creatures.
This matchup is similar to Humans with two exceptions - 1) Voice of Resurgance is better because of their flash creatures and 2) if they're on Bant, Gaddock Teeg hoses their Collected Company. Worship is also better in this matchups since they're less likely to have an answer for it.
Let me know if you have questions for some other matchups.
EDIT: Also, UW isn’t one of the Colleges.

This new Vivien seems pretty sweet for our deck.
