GloriousGoose posted a message on EDH Banned CardsHe doesn't sound like a very good friend. He kind of sounds like a dick, actually. If he doesn't respect the banlist or your opinion there's not much you can do other than proxy a Vintage Storm combo list and say you don't respect the deck construction rules.Posted in: Commander (EDH) -

LimDul945 posted a message on The official Type 4 Primer!!! New poll 5/13/15!~Posted in: Homebrew and Variant FormatsQuote from LucasBear »Small update. After doing some intense play testing I have found that the games tend to be less volatile if both players can agree to a higher starting life total. For purposes of the primer I'm going to make a heavy suggestion of 30 life, as that total made the game interesting enough to where things could get done; but life totals weren't so high that the game distended into boredom or agony. I've also been doing some research into lowering the counterspell total in my stack, so for those of you who are wanting to use my stack as a good starting point, keep that in mind.
One final rule that i've been considering adding to the suggested play rules is that if a person would draw a card while they have no cards in their library they can either choose to concede or take cumulative damage for each card they would draw instead. For example, if someone drew their last card in their library no damage would be taken, if someone cast Ancestral Recall targeting that person then they would take a cumulative point of damage for each drawn card (1+2+3) for a total of six damage. They next time they would draw a card they would still take cumulative damage. I'll think of a more appropriate way to word this later, if I decide that this rule is something that needs to be implemented.
Okay, this is getting a bit worrisome... You're diverging further and further from what the actual format is, and writing it as "gospel". I realize that these changes you are making are according to your personal preferences, but please keep them within a "House Rules" section and apart from the main description of the format. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Her other ability, the ability to gain life, normally is pooh-pooh'd in multiplayer. I've weaponized life gain in the deck with its usage in Sylvan Library, Felidar Soverign, Phyrexian Processor and Aetherflux Reservoir. At the very least, it allows me to aggressively attack and only fear Crackbacks from Voltron Commanders.

I'm running a competitive version, that might give you ideas.

I realized I like relatively quick games, which Daxos does not do. I'm shifting my decks away from hard control and towards midrange. Daxos also felt completely unfair. If my opponents knew what they were doing, they would murder the ***** out of Daxos and I would be out of the game for a long while. If they didn't, I would just sit back, quitely gaining advantage until it was heads up and my opponent would be asking how big my 3 mana Instant Speed Enchantment Creatures were.

Purphoros is the only God that is actively great with my strategy. I play the other Gods because they're fun. Goblin War Drums is a more efficient evasion Enchantment than Iroas, God of Victory. You could also go with Cover of Darkness but that's must more expensive than Goblin War Drums. Athreos, God of Passage could just be another card draw spell, I play with it because it's fun and if I get a player's life low enough they keep giving me back Vampires to doom the rest of the table.
Enchantress-style is exactly that: using Enchantments to your path of victory. I only suggest it because it sounds like you want to keep all of these Enchantments and Artifacts.
Instead of building towards late game, just put some light "Stax" elements. Cards that either Tax your opponents or slow them down, such as Blind Obedience: their Creatures coming into play tapped means you can get in without blockers, plus you can Extort players to death. This is also why I suggest amazing draw engines above all else. It means you can keep playing Vampires, swing in and not care about casualties because all you want to do is get in for damage.
Prioritize draw over almost anything else. That's why Necropotence is so powerful. You pay life to draw cards and then you get those cards at the end step. I usually pay life so that my hand ends up being 10 cards. Sure, I'll have to discard three cards and those cards get Exiled but it means I have amazing card quality. So, if I have 4 cards in hand, I would pay 6 to draw 6 and then discard down to 7. Even bad draw is good because it keeps you moving forward: Stromkirk Occultist, Outpost Siege, Dark Tutelage, Minions' Murmurs and Dark Prophecy are all under a dollar, I think. If you're going to splurge, Necropotence is your number one. Next, if you don't mind running non-Vampires Grenzo, Havoc Raiser. It's like he gives you extra draws from your opponents, but more importantly is his Goad ability. That way they're attacking others, so you're free to get in and have every other player kill each other. Smuggler's Copter is also pretty great just for card selection that also dodges most Wraths.

Personally, I don't think Panharmonicon and Strionic Resonator are worth it. Any time you are not playing a Creature to put pressure on the board, that card has to be amazing. Purphoros is worth taking a turn off of putting pressure because he'll give you so much more reach, Necropotence is worth taking a turn off because it'll refill your hand. Sometimes you need to make do with your budget, so I have something like Phyrexian Arena to draw me cards instead of Ad Nauseam. I think you can do better with budget options over Panharmonicon and Strionic.
This is also why I don't run Anointed Procession; it may double the tokens I make but it gives my opponents breathing room. I rather have them playing answers than having a turn to breathe to develop their board. This deck cannot win a marathon, so it needs to kill the table before they hit their stride by sprinting to victory.
This doesn't mean these cards are bad or you shouldn't use them. I just wouldn't use them for my build. I am going super low-to-the-ground Aggro, but if you went with a different strategy these cards might be amazing. For example, an 'Aristocrat' build. Aristocrats is slang for Creatures that get a benefit for Sacrificing Creatures. Suddenly, Panharmonicon and Procession become great for token making, as your Creatures feed off of your own Vampires. So that's also why I wouldn't consider Conspiracy. It gives my opponents breathing room by casting a non-threat for not much of a benefit for my strategy. I am already one of the 'taller' fast Edgar aggro decks, in that my stuff costs more than other builds like ISBPathfinder's Edgar. I can't really afford adding more high converted mana cost cards to this deck without having to completely change my strategy.
Blade of the Bloodchief is a fun card, but it focuses my damage onto one particular Creature. This makes it easier to stop my deck because out of 15 damage attacking, they can block 7 of it from one Creature, as an example. I run Land Tax because it effectively lets me draw 9 cards. He who draws most tends to win, so it is a one mana card that will draw me and also fix my mana. I run Sword of the Animist because it is Ramp, it gets me ahead of my opponents which lets me spam more Vampires.
I hope this answers all of your questions.

Oath negates the power of ramp decks and buys the goodwill of the table, which leaves Daxos alone and that's perfect for you to quietly tick up your Experience until the end game.
I'll see if the same occurs in Daxos vs Progenitus, but I'm pretty confident. It's also been added as a way to thin my deck, accelerate myself and synergizes with Emeria Shepherd.
