Feb 3, 2014Lord Grey posted a message on Launch Giveaway! It's hard for me to pick just one, but I'd say one of my favorite creatures is Tidehollow Sculler. This guy provides real value: information, hand disruption, and an early attacker all for the low price of WB. Plus the temporary confiscation of my opponent's card jut oozes with flavor; Scully sits on their card and dares them to try and take it back.Posted in: Announcements

So, here's my current idea: a 450 card cube made of singletons of all rarities which cover a broad spectrum of awful design (aka: bad cards). I've been sorting through my own collection of cards as well as searching the "junk" boxes at my local game store. I'd like to have a good balance between the five colors as well as have a good variety of artifacts, gold cards, and nonbasic lands (hey, even if the cubes made of horrible cards it has to still be draftable :D).
The biggest challenge I've had so far is finding bad green creatures; they tend to be more cost efficient than the other colors and most of the ones I've deemed bad enough for this cube tend to have a converted mana cost of 4 (lots of 4/5s or 5/4s with drawbacks). Despite the fact that this will be a "Cube of Poo", it still has to be balanced and have a playable curve.
Here are the cards I've chosen for the Cube so far. This is still work in progress and any input would be greatly appreciated:
White:
Blue
Black
Red
Green
Multicolor
Artifacts
Land
I've updated with the rest of the colors and have linked the cards. As I said, this is still work in progress.
But there is one thing that's kind of puzzled me: why is it that "tribal" counts as a card type as opposed to a supertype (like "Legendary")? A "Tribal" by itself is nothing; in order to be a card it would have to have another actual established card type (ex: Tribal Sorcery, Tribal Enchantment). "Legendary" doesn't give Tarmogoyf an extra +1/+1, but "Tribal" does?
Then again, maybe Wizards was trying to be like Riddick and slyly convert an adjective into a noun.
As far as my Magic experience goes, I was first introduced to the game when I was in junior high (back when Revised Edition was the current core set). I mainly played casually on and off throughout the years, but I finally stuck with the game when Alara Block released. Mainly I like to draft at my local game store and compete in the Casual tourneys and Standard events whenever I have the opportunity.
Magic has easily become my #1 hobby (I find myself playing video games less often than I used to, and when I do pick up the X-Box controller I more often than not choose Duels of the Planeswalkers :D). I really like how it offers different experiences to a variety of players. I for one can't wait until I get my first Cube constructed for the next lull between expansions (I'll be starting a thread about that soon).
