The one thing that this thread totally proves is: people respond to the first thing they read, not realizing if they had taken the time to read the thread, the doubt they're casting had already been addressed. Funny. Sad. Both.

It's already been said the Alpha had no order the way Beta sheets did. Yet, people continue to throw out questions asking if the Alpha is the same as Beta.

    Reading is fundamental.

If I were going to fake something like this, and there was a known "pattern", don't you think that would have been followed? There was no pattern or consistent sheet setup in Alpha the way there was in subsequent sets. It was the very first ever release of the game. It's real.

Is there a big, or can you not cast instants during declare/after blockers phase?

If you should be able to, is there a special key I need to hold or something to allow for that or...?

    Any help is appreciated

Have a PTQ tomorrow... and changed my deck at the last minute from LOAM to Jund... and wanted some help with sideboarding please...

I haven't played Jund before (as a deck) but Loam has a lot of the same cards, and do kinda the same thing with different methods..

My main question is.. I have never played with Bloodbraid Elf , are there any tricks to it as far as when the best time to play it, or when you shouldn't play it or... anything at all? I don't want to go in and do something stupid because I've never used Cascade before.

Then sideboard... thinking I will see a lot of: Burn, Affinity, and other Jund -- Thinking the Deck / sideboard will look something like this? :

What would you put in AND TAKE OUT... the take out part is most important [for me] since I don't know this deck THAT well..

    I am thinking....

    Affinity.. + 3 Ancient Grudge + 1 Jund Charm // - 2 Liliana - 2 Dark Confidant

    Splinter Twin.. + 1 Combust + 2 Torpor Orbs (?) // - 3 Kitchen Finks

    Jund Mirror.. + 2 Anathemancer + 2 Baloth // - 3 Liliana -1 Thoughtseize ?

    Boros / Burn.. + 2 Baloth + 1 Jund Charm +1 Duress // - 2 Thoughtseize - 2 Dark Confidant

    POD.. + 3 Ancient Grudge + 2 Torpor Orb + 1 Jund Charm // - 3 Kitchen Finks - 2 .... not sure... what would be optimal?

It's late I can't think... please help if you're able... thank you very much

  • posted a message on Ulamog and Emrakul
Both Emrakul, the Aeons Torn and Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre have the listed ability of:

When [creature name] is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.

It says that it IS put into the graveyard... so if that is the case, as with an Undying creature, can you use something like Jund Charm to remove the graveyard, effectively removing them from the game as well?

Thanks for the info LEH1982 --- what would you side out in each matchup that you listed for the sideboard choices? assuming the list above in the original post was the decklist?

Ok, thank you, that makes sense, but since Artifacts have no color, is it a Blue Wurmcoil Engine, if that is what you copy?

I wanted to know two things, please.

Is Porcelain Legionnaire considered a white card as well as an artifact?

Also, If that is the case, and Phyrexian Metamorph is then blue? Or is it the color of whatever it copies, and if it copies an Artifact or Artifact Creature, is it colorless? Unless it's a 'White' Artifact creature, if that is in fact how it works...?

Also, even non-creature Artifacts, like Birthing Pod would be Green?

I haven't ever used this card and I see it in the Green White Ramp deck http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck.asp?deck_id=988490 and in sideboard of a couple others like the Havengul Lich Heartless Summoning deck..

How is it best used and why would you have it in the sideboard?

    I appreciate the help

Okay, that makes more sense... thanks for the detailed explanation guys

Well, the situation was we were play testing.. and I had a Gideon's Lawkeeper, and he had a Huntmaster of the Fells and an Inkmoth Nexus along with a Kessig Wolfrun ... I was waiting to tap the Inkmoth but he wouldn't activate it until I tapped the Huntmaster... and then if I didn't tap the Huntmaster, he wouldn't activate the Inkmoth... so basically... there is no way to tap an inkmoth and stop him from attacking if he has another creature out and I want to tap SOMETHING to stop an attack?

I guess I thought that if he is saying, I am announcing beginning of combat and declaring attackers.. he would have to have the inkmoth animated, in which case I could tap it.. and if not, tap his other creature, Huntmaster in this case, and stop him from the attack... but he then would activate the Inkmoth after I tapped.. so I wouldnt ever be able to tap the Inkmoth... and if I didn't use the Lawkeeper on the Huntmaster he would be able to attack with it and I wouldn't be able to stop it with the Lawkeeper...

So, that was my original question... can you avoid someone tapping your Inkmoth .. basically you have the final move before moving to the attacking step... and can just wait and not animate and make them waste their Lawkeeper in this instance and still get to attack with a creature...

But what I'm saying is... If I have a creature.. and declare attacks.. my opponent can tap my creature and then I can animate the inkmoth and declare as an attacker? or does it have to be done before ... ?

So I declare attacks.. (the last chance for someone to tap a creature to avoid it being able to attack).... does the inkmoth have to be activated at this point? If so.. then I can tap it.. it is not a creature I can tap the other creature safety and not worry about getting hit with the inkmoth because it would have to have been animated prior to this step.. correct?

So if I am understanding correctly, let's say I am attacking, I have to have my Inkmoth animated in order to declare attacks? If I have another creature, can my opponent tap my creature then in response to that animate my Inkmoth and attack with it, or does it have to be animated prior to that step of combat? I think that's what I am hearing.
