for r those wondering about why people are saying goodbye to ixalan

    With foutain of ichor

    Here’s why

    https://mtg.gamepedia.com/Glistening_oil

Ichor = the phyrexian oil which is what corrupted karn on Morrison till vensor sacrificed himself to save him

I don’t believe the phyrexians May have finally cracked it on traveling though planes

Yes, and the point people keep repeating is that WotC has repeatedly stated that it's normal oil on Fountain of Ichor. No Phyrexians on Ixalan.

"Ichor" originally meant the blood of the gods in Greek mythology, or anything similar. It's no stretch to think that the Sun Empire dug a well, found regular oil, and thought it might be similar to the blood of the sun god they worship.

Also, there are non-Phyrexian uses of the term "ichor" in Magic: Ichor Slick and Ichorid aren't related to Phyrexia.

People liked the evil Legion of Dusk? Better New Phyrexia that plane!
    Thanks WotC.

Not New Phyrexia, more like Beverly Hillbillies. It's plain ol' oil, as stated in Alison Luhrs' tweet linked above. Wink

Based off of Fountain of Ichor, it appears that Ixalan will be the next target for the Phyrexians.

I'm not so sure...the Dinosaur it becomes doesn't have wither or infect, so perhaps they just struck tar rather than glistening oil?

So tar is just able to animate statues now? Interesting.

Well, considering what tar is made of and what happens to animals when they get stuck in it, it probably could on Ixalan, but that'd be getting into baseless speculation territory. It's still one of those things that makes you go "hmm".

I love the flavor of Mob!!

My Pauper cube is getting so many updates! So many "strictly better thans" at common!

They probably could have named this set Pauper Horizons and it'd be pretty accurate. There are loads of really strong commons in all colors. I think this will really give paper Pauper or Pauper cubes a real good shot in the arm.

I thought Intimidate and Prowess would make a few appearances in MH. I’m amazed they never did.

Aren't those evergreen keywords? I guess they were left out because they can make more of them in standard sets.

Intimidate and prowess are no longer evergreen. Prowess was removed for design reasons and intimidate was replaced with menace.

There's a manifest card. I thought they said mechanics introduced that recently wouldn't be in this.

4 years ago (Fate Reforged) isn't very recent as things go in Magic.

Also, release notes and a full list of the mechanics in Modern Horizons are also available.

Unfortunately that isn't going to work the way you want it to. While you can target your Reflector Mage with both Soulherders' end step triggered abilities, once the first one resolves and blinks your Reflector Mage, the second one will fail to resolve because it has an invalid target. When the Reflector Mage is blinked, it becomes a new object with no memory of its previous existence on the battlefield, so as far as the other Soulherder's triggered ability is concerned, it isn't the same Reflector Mage it targeted when it went on the stack.

Pauper just picked up 5 playable cards out of the 6.

Its obvious which one is the loser. Nothing like non-LD land destruction. What is the point?

Tron lands aren't the only targets for this spell in Modern and Legacy, and most decks run very few, if any, basics, so the drawback basically doesn't apply.

This *can* go in ishkanah, grafwidow's deck! Her identity for EDH is GB

Yeah, I was racing to delete my original post. This is just plain silly in that deck. I might have to look into building it.

Immediately checked the artist to see if it was Seb McKinnon. He has very quickly risen to one of the all time great mtg artists.

His art has a very... distinctive tone and feel to it. Especially for those who grew up with MtG and remember before they started using CG art

I get the same vibe from Seb's art that I get from Rebecca Guay's art, or Richard Kane Ferguson, Magali Villenuve, or Larry MacDougall. It just looks and feels like what fantasy art should look like. Seb's art is particularly haunting, though - his Stasis is probably my favorite piece of his.

  • posted a message on Lion's Eye Diamond + Shallow Grave
Sure you can. Once you discard Griselbrand to pay Lion's Eye Diamond's activation cost, it immediately becomes the top creature card of your graveyard (even though Lion's Eye Diamond will then go to the graveyard on top of it). Assuming another creature doesn't get put into your graveyard after that, once Shallow Grave resolves, it will see that Griselbrand is the top creature card of your graveyard, and return Griselbrand to the battlefield.

As for your other question, no, Shallow Grave does not target the creature card in question.
