Mind Rake is weird, to say the least. It's a pretty decent madness enabler, I guess.

    Smiting Helix is awesome design.

Frostwalla is awesome and I think it could be a Pauper all-star. I don't play paper Magic anymore but if paper Pauper were to become a thing, I might be interested in brewing a Gruul Skred deck...

The art on Everdream is some of Nils Hamm's best.

Watcher for Tomorrow is...hard to evaluate, honestly...

    "[MH1] - Mirrodin Besieged"

H-how are they putting the whole set of MBS into MH1?

They could've done a modal spell with 155 different modes. Wink

posted a message on Vesperlark and Wall of Omens
Yes, it can. Vesperlark's ability works similarly to Reveillark's - by the time the leaves-the-battlefield ability goes on the stack, it sees that Wall of Omens is in your graveyard, so you'll be able to return it to the battlefield.

    Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis 5(B/G)(B/G)
    Legendary Creature - Avatar (Rare)
You can't spend mana to cast this spell.
Convoke, delve (Each creature you tap while casting this spell pays for 1 or one mana of that creature's color. Each card you exile from your graveyard pays for 1.)
You may cast Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis from your graveyard.

    Quote from Couver »
So... he's way more handsome than i thought

Yeah. Not sure how to feel about thinking that about the most evil being in MTG lore Laughing

It’s actually part of the flavor. Yawgmoth was a very charming person and used that to try to seduce Rebbec and infiltrate the Thran leadership through her.

posted a message on Trinisphere vs. Delve
Paying a spell's costs using delve isn't actually impacted by Trinisphere. Under old rules, delve reduced the cost of the spell for each card you exiled from your graveyard, so you'd exile some number of cards, then Trinisphere's effect would apply and force you to pay three mana for the spell, regardless of how many cards you exiled. This is no longer the case - exiling cards due to the delve ability actually pays for 1 of the spell's mana cost. Therefore, since Trinisphere's effect applies before costs are paid, it doesn't actually do anything anymore.

In the case of Treasure Cruise, it goes like this:

    1) You announce that you're casting Treasure Cruise.
    2) The cost is calculated by applying any cost reducers or increasers - this is where the old delve rules applied and you'd exile cards to reduce Treasure Cruise's cost.
    3) Trinisphere's effect is applied - if the cost of the spell is less than 3 mana, it becomes 3 mana (specifically, 2U).
    4) You pay Treasure Cruise's costs, including exiling any cards to the delve ability.

Since Trinisphere's effect is applied before costs are paid, you can end up paying less than three actual mana for Treasure Cruise, but as far as the game is concerned, you paid the full 7U cost. The game doesn't go back to apply Trinisphere's effect, so it doesn't actually affect casting the spell.

There's a MTG Judge blog entry about this interaction.
