Trying to figure out what to play on MTGO. I'm a new player to the online world, and while budget isn't an issue for me in paper magic, I'm trying to minimize what I spend online.
Site got slightly new looking - more pictures! And now you can suggest names for Archetypes. To do it - click on archetype and then enter your suggestion to input box
This isn't to knock the OP, not least since the sites do slightly different things anyway. But since everyone seems to really love the site the OP posted, they may well want to look at mtgstats as well.
Heh, cool I didn't know about that site. Ok, now my aim is to make my service better, then those
I want to create pictures for each format, but I'm poor artist. I've found cool picture:
I wanna a picture like that for each format:
- Remake SoM for Standard
- Remake ISD for ISD Block (maybe it's unneeded, because ISD logo is eloquently enough)
- Remake Guildpact for Pauper (just like that block and it fits site's color theme)
Maybe anyone of you can help me? You may put them here or mail to zuko3d@gmail.com
Thinking about it a bit more, maybe you want to split it based on some inter-list agreement statistic that would account for both presence of a card and agreement on number, maybe the intraclass correlation.
Good, that's approximately how my current algorithm works. And it, as you can see - fails
I think some form of human quality control might be good too, so maybe have a way people can see a list, the top 3 guesses by the algorithm, and then have people pick the best one. Then incorporate that feedback.
Yes, I'm thinking about adding such a feature, but my web-programming experience is not shiny So you'll need to wait
Since archetypes are usually defined by a few unique cards, rather than the list as a whole, it seems like a way to go.
That's good isea and it's how it been done in first version. But I've failed in Modern. For example - decks playing pod. And those decks could be from rly different archetypes Another example - Delver. It just wrong to put every deck with the guy in a single archetype.
Idea of letting users to give archetype names is good. I'll try to make such tool.
make a kickstarter for funding! there's lots of magic players (myself included) who would be happy to throw a few bucks in your direction for hosting fees.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to start a Kickstarter project, you need to satisfy the requirements of Amazon Payments:
You are 18 years of age or older.
You are a permanent US resident with a Social Security Number (or EIN).
You have a US address, US bank account, and US state-issued ID (driver’s license).
You have a major US credit or debit card.
I'm living far-far from US... But thank you for idea - there are lots of services like that. Will use one of them..
cache the results. allow for a set number of date ranges (say last week, last month, last 3 months) and pre-compute them. store the results. allow users to view the result set of their choice.
for a timeline type view (week to week), just store the date ranges that are computed each week so you can present an aggregate that is composed of the collection of weekly results.
Sure, I've thought about caching results. Now it's acting like this - I'm calculating data once a day, and then you see cached version. But I think it can be optimized so no caching will be needed. Or just slightly. And.... if I wanna cache lots of info - I need strong VPS => need money it's very bounding factor, assuming that's altruistic project
You can see some won/lost ststistics here: http://mtgo-stats.info/formatStats/?fName=Standard
I wish to hear some crirics about design... And what datas about archetype do you want to see at "Format stats" page?
p.s. feel free to give links on my site to your friends
