The PDF of the Basic Rules looks great and gives the bones of what you need to know about Next(I probably won't call it 5th at this point). The changes to the classes are pretty small and reflect the ability to play until level 20. I really want to see the PHB because I'm using a Tiefling in Encounters and want to know if there will be rules for use of wings or tails. I'm pretty sure that Tiefling and Dragonborn are staying core races and I think Gnomes might return to core. Also, can't wait to see the new Monster Manual. The new stat blocks are easy to understand so even the newest DM shouldn't have a hard time reading each entry.
IMO the lightness of the system is so that the setting of the campaign you're in or running will add flavor and complexity to the game rather than the rules or core mechanics. 3E(e.g. the enormous library of OGL supplments) and 4E(e.g. D&D Insider) had a lot of additives and that often caused problems for DMs and made playing very clunky and unfun at times. Plus, there's a feeling of inclusiveness that I've never felt from any other edition I've played. Many people in my Encounters group are veteran players but a handful are new to D&D and Next's easy character creation(or Wizard's surprisingly good pregens) and game mechanics have closed the knowledge gap.

This is the most I've eaten all week. There was pretty much nothing in the fridge until an hour ago and I went to a local soup kitchen twice so I didn't have to eat beans again. My mom went to Price-Rite and bought stock in Goya beans a few months ago and I don't want to eat another bean for a long while. The soup kitchen gives away bread so I I'd been eating PB&J a lot the past two weeks. My family isn't even that poor but my brother eats like a hog and so we have food for a few days after shopping and then its a grind until payday. >.< I am moving out again, for good this time, as soon as possible because I can live quite nicely on $50 of food a week but its hard to do that when I live at home.
On topic, that's a lot of Gushers dude. Give them away to some kids and forget they exist. If you have to be addicted to candy be addicted to quality candy, like Dairy Milk for example. My low brow candy addiction are those mini Kit Kats they sell unwrapped in bags. I limit myself to eating them only at the movies though.
One of the reasons Konami was able to handle YGO the way they did was because it has been aggressively branded as a TCG from day one. They're aware that players collect the cards but it is first and foremost a game to be played and to that end pretty much tournament cards are reasonably affordable. Players are more concerned about getting good at the game and often have 2 or 3 decks rather than just 1. Magic players want to put the blinders on to the fact that YGO is growing but it is and soon your little brother and his pals will be at your LGS playing in YGO tournaments.
Anyway, I think that Legacy and Modern tournament play has exceeded Wizards ability to maintain a decent supply of cards for them. That cute little trickle of staples they've been seeding into various products just ain't cutting it and MM did almost nothing to actually grow the format or cut prices. It's clear Wizards wants Modern to grow so the whole "too bad you're poor" attitude isn't really in keeping with that goal. Legacy has been all but cut loose as an official format but Wizards has to keep it around to avoid being accused of being in it solely for the money.
But go on ahead and think that it won't happen to you and that the supply of fakes will stay small.
Magneto didn't reprogram the Sentinels. Remember, Trask made them without any metal in them and so Magneto had to put some metal inside them so he control their movements with his metal fu. They turned on only because they were in close proximity to a mutant.
Xavier and Magneto are only the tip of the iceberg. Jean Grey as the Phoenix trumps both combined. The X-Men timeline isn't far enough in the future for Rogue to have sucked Ms. Marvel's(she's owned by Marvel Studios so the comic version of Rogue ain't happening) powers out yet. There are tons of powerful mutants but they would be best served with solo films. Once Marvel Studios reboots Blade and Daredevil I think Fox will be forced to look to mutants they wouldn't touch before, like Psylocke, Daken, Cable, and X-23(I can dream!).
Highroller is just using the dialectical process to increase his understanding of you and your position. He hasn't actually insulted you or demeaned you and has only presented his own arguments and questions in response to his. It seems like he's trying to trip you up because he's not really providing an answer or conclusion. When it comes to a topic like this one I'm not sure there can be a definitive "right" answer.
From the outside it looks like Highroller believes in a truly loving God who forgives and doesn't consign people to hell while PandasRpeople2 believes in a God who rewards and punishes strictly based on the laws laid out in the Bible, with maybe a little wiggle room to ignore clearly outdated concepts and rules. Highroller wants to know why the idea of punishment of sin is so important to Pandas' and such a large concept in his mind and Pandas' has yet to really answer that question.
Counterfeits are worrisome to me because they increase the chances of entry level players of Modern and Legacy getting cheated in a trade or sale. I wouldn't buy into a format that carries a decent chance of getting a fake staple card. No one wins when people won't buy fetchlands for $25 OR $70 because one might be a fake and the other is just too ridiculously priced AND might be a fake.
I don't have a Trostani. It's really that simple. I'm unemployed until the end of the month and haven't had money to get one and none have been in trade binders that I've seen. Anyway, Emmara is kind of a game sealer and I like being able to play it when I need to and not have to draw it.
