The only way I would use creatures like this is if I could abuse skullclamp to rip through my deck for my payoff cards. Otherwise it can feel a little weak since it can be tough to win with a swarm of 1/1 in my meta (unless you can go infinite of course)
6/1/2011 If Leonin Relic-Warder leaves the battlefield before its first ability has resolved, its second ability will trigger and when it resolves, do nothing. Then its first ability will resolve and exile the targeted artifact or enchantment with no way to return it to the battlefield.
It would really help if I read the card before I comment instead of letting everyone know how stupid I am.
Ok, going to flesh out the list a little more and figure out what I need for my meta. Knight of autumn really is a catch-all for this deck.
What do you own for good mana? If we're being honest the card that you want in deck is Knight of Autumn. Lifegain, removal, big body, etc. and you can bounce it with superfluous copies of Whitemane Lion/Kor Skyfisher for additional value as the game progresses.
I have duals, shocks, fetches, checks and a couple other Selesnya dual type lands. So the mana base isn't an issue for me
I have all of these cards. The only card I don't have is the Phyrexian Altar
I could run soul's Attendant as I have extra and the may clause is relevant in my meta as there is now quite a bit of life gain hate after a few games went sideways.
Need to find room for enchantment/artifact hate as well since my meta is plagued with nasty enchantments.
All the sudden we're running out of space fine tuning this thing
Prismite Well now, that is interesting find, isn't it for those on a budget. I wanted to buy Altar's when they were reprinted but didn't feel like I played enough decks to warrant their purchase. The price has since risen again, meh.
I find myself needing early defense in my meta. I realize Wall of Omens isn't what you want to see in the later game, but it's frequently my go-to early drop for the card draw and the somewhat large butt. Is it viable here? Obviously skullclamp is what we are leading on for draw and to rip through the deck. Otherwise, I tend to get chipped away too much and without lifegain and can struggle to keep my game plan going.
I'll also stress that 2x Phyrexian Altar goes a long way because even though your infinite combo is 4 cards all of the pieces are actively good in the deck so you're not reliant on assembling them. Still, it helps to be able to generate infinite bodies at EOT off of a Whitemane Lion and end games.
I don't have phyrexian altar but I could acquire them, clearly important to generate the white mana to keep the chain going, but is Ashnod's altar a remotely playable card as a budget replacement, as I have a playset of those?
I quite enjoy when you showcase decks like this and list the so-called "core" with many of the other viable cards to choose from. Then players can flesh out lists based on their own meta...
I'll note that many of the Green cards are "mandatory" given that Allosaurus Rider, much like Force of Will, necessitates a critical mass of hits. Chancellor of the Tangle, for example, does triple duty given that it's fast mana for Neoform, a Green card for Allosaurus Rider and it's 7 CMC which means that you can Nourishing Shoal it for 7 life which is another activation of Griselbrand. That's an interaction which frequently comes up and it's why you don't need the full 4x Autochthon Wurm even though the Wurm provides 2 activations of Griselbrand. You can run 3-4 if you want but remember that Summoner's Pact can tutor for them as needed which gives you some virtual copies that you may otherwise be overlooking.
The best protection spell for this deck is Pact of Negation since you don't have enough Blue cards to support Force of Will. If you're looking for some additional resilience your best bet would be to play 4 of those.
Quit posting this turn one nonsense....We want War of the Spark Mulitplayer Review!!! Hahaha j/k but seriously, where is the set review. This set is a massive shake up for Magic and we want your thoughts on it
Glad Resplendent Angel worked out for you I actually went ahead myself and picked up a second Crested Sunmare and I am going to run a 2/2 split with Archangel of Thune this weekend (stay tuned for the update). While I love Thune, the biggest issue is she can feel lackluster if you don't have an army to pump, unlike Sunmare who can at least start rebuilding your army. With my luck I will likely draw them opposite of when they would both shine the most...but I digress.
Did the Sun Droplet work out? I mean the interaction is obvious, but did you find that this helped to shore up any weaknesses with the deck which is clearly overextending into wrath effects. I remember running the card in the past with Thune and probably took it out to make room for a new card I wanted to try and then forgot about it.
Massacre Girl looks okay for duels, it looks pretty awesome for multiplayer with a large board.
If this works the way I think it does, it will likely trigger multiple times, and menace for afterwards is pretty useful too.
Massacre Girl seems like a Living Death on a stick if you can get things to die. However, my concern is you might not be able to control the deaths, thereby not getting max value out of cards zulaport cutthroat and/or other drain creatures if they die before the larger creatures. But then again, perhaps I am not quite sure how the card actually works.
Living death might not actually be the right card to compare it too, but in a drain deck with these cards, it's the same mana cost......
I personally would likely just go all in on the damage plan and keep the blood artist while removing the suture priest, but honestly, I think it's a toss-up and you can't really go wrong with either. I agree that adding more Teysa Karlov is important when you are all in on the token clamp strategy since her removal is going to be a priority for your opponents
Yeah you're dead right. Auriok Champion is another to add to that list. I try not to spend big money on multiplayer cards, I save my budget mainly for competitive formats.
Karlov (especially) & Thune are the two I would love to add, but I missed out on them. I got lucky with Resplendent Angel, traded for them after a recent Standard draft meet.
How has Resplendent Angel been? Card seems like an interesting mana dump later in the game. Has the three toughness been an issue for you?
Unfortunately, the best upgrades for the Soul Sisters archetype are not cheap. Wurmcoil Engine, Serra AscendantArchangel of Thune and Alhammarret's Archive are four cards I would consider playing but if you don't already have them. The "I win" cards are quite cheap in comparison. I don't know if you consider Aetherflux Reservoir to be "I win" or not, but obviously, in a dedicated deck, it can crush a table.
Splashing black isn't cheap anymore either since karlov of the Ghost council is now in the same price range as the cards above
I missed out on karlov of the Ghost Council myself as I was hoping to turn my version of the deck into an Orzhov version
I wouldn't even rate a 4 mana 4/4 flier that Scrys 1 on upkeep so it wouldn't even get an F. The only compelling argument to field this card (IMO obviously) is as a Serum Powder but I think that it's a "weak card that shouldn't be played" in combo decks hence the rating. Essentially, I don't think that anyone should consider playing it in multiplayer for any reason.
I'll stress that I like 0 drops a lot. 2 of my most played cards are 4x Leyline of the Void and 4x Gemstone Caverns. 4x Gemstone Caverns I play in virtually 100% of my builds (I just remove them when I post my decklists on here). So I have nothing against 0 drops in general because I think they're obscene. I just personally believe that this one isn't worth running.
Personally since you like to showcase decks, I find it valuable to see budget and non budget builds. Not because I am lazy but because every once in awhile I have that "I didn't realize that was even a card" moment.
The audience around here seems to be part budget and part anything goes

Knight of Autumn that is a card worth splashing for
EDIT: War Priest of thune triggers work like Oblivion Ring correct? I can permanently exile If I flash in Whitemane Lion while on the stack?

Perhaps calling it Massacre Wurm lite?

Can you give us a few more examples of decks you routinely face? If so, we can probably help you find a deck(s) with similar power levels.
Mono-black devotion decks tend to do quite well https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/casual-multiplayer-formats/multiplayer/733532-monoblack-devotion-shells link to Prid3s various lists
