Overloaded electrickery does indeed 2-for-1 invisible stalker when they try to suit it up. This is so incredibly hard to set up it's not even funny, but electrickery IS something that is incidentally good against there deck(pseudo copies of pillar for mana-dorks) and the fact that most Bant players won't see it makes it a tremendous blowout when it happens.

I mulliganed into Electrickery Game 3 vs my Bant Hexproof opponent on Friday. He dropped a stalker, then next turn when he tried to enchant it, I blew him out of the water. Removal on all his dorks after that and he had nothing to come back from the pressure. He wasn't running voice though I don't think.

I don't think Goyf is the creature to replace for VoR. If we're talking Kibler Naya, you probably only have room for 1-2 of them and I'm not entirely sure what you would take out for it.

Well, the list I had built was using 2 Abrupt Decay, 1 Orzhov Charm, 4 Deathrite Shaman. And then 4 duress sideboard. I never had a problem getting the black mana when I needed it.

He plays a Revillark and passes.
I attack with the Goyf. I am afraid to Path becasue he will just pod it into something huge and almost 4-1 me. I'd rather continue to beatdown even after he gets his Qasali and Spellskite back. I path to Exile the Spellskite end of turn.

Pod can only be activated at sorcery speed; so if you were worried about being blown out in response to a path, then you played that slightly wrong.

Lastly, all you guys that are splashing black for Deathrite Shaman or red for Lightning Bolt, please stop. Its just ugly.

Splashing black for Deathrite has been quite useful. I haven't tested a whole lot with it, but it has been far from ugly. All you need is a Swamp, Watery Grave and an Overgrown Tomb (might be running a Godless Shrine too, can't remember) and it's fine. Also allows Duress out of the sideboard, which is a fine card; and a miser's Orzhov charm.

You may not like it, but Deathrite is one of the best cards in Modern, so if he fits in a deck, certainly I'll play it. It could be wrong, I'll admit my testing with the list has been rather limited since I just got it together recently and with all the Standard going on and DGM pre/release I haven't had much time to jam matches in. Last time I played Bant was a blouses list with worship sb back in the fall, ironically before Jund became a big thing; but my friend was already on the list and the deck just folded horribly to it (at the time was playing blightning too). Between bolts on dorks, Liliana and a ton of discard, it was very difficult to keep a creature on the board. And then once Jund became popular I just abandoned the deck.

The problem is, the commons and uncommons aren't really that expensive.

What's Remand, a $10 card? A reprint won't make it any less than maybe $8 at best. If somebody can't afford this format over $8 for a playset of Remands then they have more serious problems than just that card.

The cards that NEED to come down in price significantly won't. That's the problem.

Hey I'm in on the fun, if I can get the boxes I preordered I may just end up flipping both of them and then using those proceeds to go get free playsets of a couple chase cards I need Smile

This is based off of Kibler's latest version of his Naya deck. Sideboard has some differences (kibler had a combust and a thrun in there and no gaddock teeg and I don't think he had swords). His list is below:

Differences (from Kibler's to the 4-0):
MD +1 Noble Hierarch -1 Lotus Cobra
SB: +2 Sword of War and Peace +1 Torpor Orb +1 Gaddock Teeg -1 Aven Mindcensor -1 Combust -1 Thrun -1 Thundermaw Hellkite

Is Snapcaster Mage absolutely necessary? I've been playing with 2 Prime Speakers and one negate, and it's pretty nice having that flash draw power. Just wanted to see you guys' input.

Snapcaster is pretty necessary I'd say, not as a 4 of, but at 3 it's pretty nice. I've often played him as an ambush viper against control decks to get some early damage in (usually when I have a spare or no spells to worry about) but he's also instrumental in giving you some extra reach when you need a counter or a removal spell.

Buffalo GP would be nice. It's only about 4 hours from Toronto so you'd get a bunch of people from the GTA and surrounding region driving in. Probably a bunch from the Ottawa scene too.

Although, not at the expense of the Toronto GP. In addition would be nice Smile

I'm thinking 2k+ is very possible if the set is solid.

I think it will probably be around 2k or more. I don't know whether it will really be more than GP Charlotte had...especially if MM doesn't end up knocking it out of the park. GP Charlotte had HUGE EV with the Goldrush event, and was relatively cheap to get to...Vegas on that weekend is going to be insane. There's some rather large convention, GP Vegas and also one of, if not the biggest, electronic dance parties in the US in EDC...it's going to be very expensive and a lot of people (like me) will decide not to go even though we want to because it just doesn't make sense financially.

I get the feeling that WoTC planned the "horrible timing" to coincide with EDC just so that way it would keep the numbers down due to people not coming out because of the price.

I wish I could go. Cheapest way to get Modern Masters. Well other than the hotel and plane ticket =P

My friend quoted me $964 for hotel and plane ticket Thursday->Monday. That's with a large group going.

Then add food, entry fee to the event.

Yea...much cheaper than the 2 boxes I might possibly get from my preorder at $130 a box (x2) + $35 shipping (although to be honest I'm completely NOT expecting to actually receive them, since they probably went far over allocation it'll depend if I was quick enough...but it's gravy if I do).

Buying loose packs from the LGS will be the cheapest route. The only way Vegas is cheaper is if you were in town for a trip or EDC already. Or if you live there.

Mmmm. Legacy. Where the top deck archetypes never change, every other match is FoW vs FoW, and everyone is trying to kill you in a few turns with Show and Tell in a broken deck vs broken deck manor. Be ready to shell out at least a grand too, your land base alone is gonna be $500 to $700.

    Wait, I mean

Darn those legacy borders!! Go modern!

    =)

That's such a load of crap. Yes Legacy is generally more expensive per deck, but they also don't rotate. Not every match is FoW vs Fow. Look at Jund for example. There are other ways to combat combo. And the meta rotates all the time, like a true healthy format should. Combo dominates one week, control comes in the next in response, and then stuff like Jund in response, and then combo. Sure the top decks are relatively the same, but Jund came out of nowhere, shardless agent did too. There's room for innovation. It's a much healthier format than Modern, and it's much more interesting than Modern or Standard.

Just because you can't afford the format doesn't give you the right to be ignorant about it.

First of all - Bogles is derived from this deck, not the other way around. Check the dates.
In fact if you look hard enough you'll see that i ported this deck to modern about a month before bogles even started showing up.

Second of all - we'd all love to have access to daybreak coronet and slippery bogle but we don't so don't even try to compare the two. If you want to play auras in standard it would be great if you could troll less and playtest more. Thanks.

I actually wasn't trolling, I was replying to the guy who wanted to port this deck to modern, pointing out that it already exists there and is "better" (because it has access to better cards, like all modern decks due to the larger card pool). I didn't mean to be so blunt but I was browsing at work and don't have a lot of time and the thought hit me so I wrote it down. Didn't have time to expand on it I had to post and alt-tab.

I've been looking over this deck since I think it's where I want to be and I'm trying to decide on what to run in the core. I think I like the idea of the WUR version (slightly off-topic I suppose although it's been discussed here before). I guess my main worry is the match-up vs Blitz, and Aristocrats since those are the 2 decks other than Junk Rites I'd expect to see a fair amount of at the WMCQ/PTQ weekend next week. Blitz as I've read, is a pretty dicey matchup, Rites is obviously what this deck is here for, but how is the Aristocrat Matchup? I can't imagine it being horrible, but it can't be quite so easy either necessarily.

Not like we don't already know this...and he's making several panic-alarm points that just aren't true or necessary.

If your LGS participates in this, they'll get found out and shut down by WoTC. It's bad for business anyways, they make a lot of money off of sealed product and people won't buy packs if they always pull crap.

There's a lot of hypotheticals that just won't happen, and it's not like this is anything new, mapping has been around for 10+ years or something, it's just only recently has someone written an app to make it so easy.

Exactly. As I stated, I'd probably run the list I quoted in my last post except for the GoST change. And then include the ooze in the sb to swap in for the strangles based on the matchup. against blitz I agree that 95% of the time ooze would be a dead card as you'd want to race them as fast as possible. Same goes for Jund and any other fast deck. But against the durdles and control decks it might be a good sb tech to bring in. It's always a fine line when you try to fine tune something that works as good as this deck. I'm having that same issue while thinking about tuning it for modern for when rotation hits.

The deck already exists in Modern, it's called Bogle, and it's better.
