The End of an Era

UU is pretty prohibitive. Our manabase is finely balanced to support Mana Leak and Moorland Haunt.

i totally agree with that. even considering a different calibration of mana base (which i think is perfect right now) in favor of islands, only to play this guy, simply seems too much for the effective power of the card itself.

im testing it right now! love it!
maybe i could consider it for some sort of budget modern deck on paper

i already run a 2x blade splicer, with 3x mirran and 2x hunter and no hunting.
first, i don't like hunting at all, because the only good part of the card is the istant speed, which is useful only if you can leave 3 mana untapped during your turn, a bad move in early game, and in a long game with no card in hand honestly i prefer to draw something else, a moorland or a hero for example.
hunter is very good but in the 3 spot we have also o-ring (4 or,better, 3) as a removal, so 5/6 removals seems quite enough to me.
i love mirran but against red burns, very largely played now, is too weak...
the golem instead against many burns survive (gut shot, galvanic...), and the splicer rarely is destroyed, because often nobody cares about him. in blocking the golem is a very good card due to first strike (again, nobody destroys splicer) and obviously is a threat if he decides to attack. i don't forget also the card advantage, two creature for one card, like hunting yes, but imho more useful in itself. and last, in mirror match, the golem is certain target for removals (very difficult to block less than by a hero), and that can be good for your 4 turn drop (hero hopefully)...

  • posted a message on [Q+A] What 2 drops do you use, and how do you play them?
imho Leonin Relic-Warder is a overall better mainboard choice than the abolisher, for example he can hurt o-rings in mirror, TS decks, stromkirk noble and shrine vs. rdw.
obviously against a control deck the abolisher is huge, if he resolves...
the leonin arbiter is really good only against ramp (and it's not a small thing..), but he doesn't change the match too much to be mainboarded in my opinion.
what do you thing about a 2 drop spot without creature in the main? (while 4 honor and 3 mana leak are essential...)? maybe adding more one drop creature, maybe 10-11?
all of this leaving in the side 2x abolisher, 2x warder and 2x arbiter

  • posted a message on Hi everybody!!
    hi everybody,
my name is Lorenzo, I am 22 years old and I come from Milan, Italy.
I started playing MTG with the Mercadian Masques block, I still remember my first booster's rare, parallax tide (I was not very happy ).
I stopped during the onslaught block, but now I have started over with the prerelease of innistrad.
I have no preference of decks, but perhaps the one with which I have obtained the best results was an odyssey block's MBC.
Here i hope to find many people to discuss our common passion, and, of course, to improve a bit my game Grin
    bye!!
