I've come to the conclusion I must get all Trophy games on PSN. They really are good enough to buy. Of the games I've bought so far, COD 4 is the only one that still really holds my interest, and the others I just have a passing interest in. The Trophy games let you think outside the box a little. Not to say that other games don't, but I like to be awarded a little something for doing something right other then self satisfaction.
So I got Superstardust HD, which I think is a must own for anyone that gets games off of the Playstation network.
But now I'm watching the videos for all of the other games with trophy support, and I cant help but think "I have to try this".
Echo Chrome, Pixeljunk Eden, Monsters, Vagas Bowling, all of these games scream super simple, but the trophies, I got to get them! I didn't think I'd play SSHD as much as I am, but gosh darn these games look great, have strategy, and are hella fun.
I think I'm gonna go broke buying things from the psn.
I am now the owner of one Playstation 3 gaming system. The deal wasn't exactly what I thought it was, but that was Game Crazy's fault, and not my own. I could have argued with them for an hour or more and saved $20 on a game, maybe $100 if I went for the 160gb model, but it being black friday, and already being up for so long, I didn't bother fighting the tide. I still got a good deal.
Now I'm on a quest for a Ps2! I still have God of War 2 that I love playing, and DDR Supernova 2, and the Hitman Series I have to beat yet. I can buy a used one at Game Crazy for $50, so I'll wait for after Christmas, sometime in later January or February for a good deal to come along.
I ended up just getting Assassin's Creed so far, and spending most waking moments on it when I'm not at work or logging on line. The graphics even without the HDMI cables are amazing, and I plan on getting the cables very soon so I'll have even more fun.
I was thinking of picking up Call of Duty 5, but I heard 4 was so good. I don't wanna buy a new game and just have people jump onto the next game right away, leaving no one to play against on the previous game
I'll be getting my ps3 in eight or so hours. If all goes well, I'll be getting it with:
System, Remote, Drakes Fortune, Assassin's Creed, CoD4, for about $400.
I'm trying to keep myself on track with my German studies. A guy on Skype contacted me about helping me learn the language. Seems like a nice enough guy from the words he used, but other then his vocabulary I know nothing about him. I'm hoping he's native German and lives in Germany, so I can at least ask random questions about the country.
I need to buy a microphone for my computer (laptop) so I can communicate with him better, as my built in mic doesn't really pick up noise, more so static. I found a cheap one on ebay for under $5 with shipping and I was gonna pick it up but I figured I'd be getting a blue tooth head set with the playstation purchase, so I'd see if it was compatible with the computer before I bought another head set.
My work schedules goofy this next few weeks. I have off twice a week: once at the beginning, once at the end, with the start of the next weeks day off half way through the week; so I'm gonna be pretty tired of working this month.
Waiting for a new tie to come in for me yet; I was gonna buy one on ebay until I figured out I could have a cheaper(ish) one ($5) if I got a random(ish) color and design.
I'm trying to find more activities to do on my days off instead of just surfing on the web, so after German studies I'm going back to the violin when I'm not playing games. Hoping to get some magic in once again once or so a week so I can have some old school fun.
So I'm back into my language learning swing, thanks to Germanpod101 on iTunes I've found people that I like listening to that aren't talking about things I completely disagree with constantly. In case any of you are interested in what I'm learning and the material I'm using, here's a rundown:
I am self learning (to the best of my abilities) the German Language. I plan on visiting Germany in a couple of years, maybe three for either a few weeks, a weekend, or a few months. Lots to be decided on that aspect yet.
Having no teacher, I am using the fallowing for learning:
Germanpod101 on itunes - It helps with vocabulary, culture, phrases, differences in all the above, and random things in between. It's free for a subscription to itunes for a few episodes, so it's worth checking out to those that are interested.
Eddsential German by Berlitz - A Beginners guide to learning the language. Very easy to understand, unless you're a really visual person like myself. I haven't gotten very far with this book (only the first few chapters; each chapter is jammed pack with lots of info.), but it's good for me none the less.
Before You know It 4 for PC - The free download version. It helps get me my spelling and grammar, and is full of pictures! It's learning system is flash card style, which is my preferred style.
Instant Immersion German /8 Audio CDs - I got this on eBay a while ago. I stopped using it so much when the information I was learning I couldn't use everyday in conversation. Now that I hear other German speakers via the above podcast I've gone back to using it, though not nearly as much.
I try listening to German radio online when I can now, and I'll be getting some German music off of eBay as soon as I find something I like.
If anyone has anything I should add to the list, please mention!
As for how many hours a day I log away learning, I don't really. I just learn as much as I can as long as I'm in the mood, so I shoot for an hour if I can, and if I can't I try to go back later to learn more. If I go over an hour, I keep at it until I collapse under the information.
If anyone has information on beginner learning German Forums that are active I'd be interested! I can't seem to find one that's active!:D
On a side note: I'm also back to learning some very basic slight of hand. I've always loved magic tricks as a child, and as an adult I still find it fascinating. I'm using an Ellusionist deck (2nd Black Ghost) for practice, and various Youtube videos that aren't in copyright violation for tutorials on what would appear to be great tricks.
I don't think I get out enough. Can't help it though, I love surfing forums and flaming it up.
Right now I'm waiting for South park to turn on, even though it's probably just a rerun.
I've had a very good week at work. With all the parties going on I've seen some gorgeous women come in and out at late hours of the night. Usually they come through the drive through, but you get used to those girls pretty quick. They smile, you smile, take their money and they're on their way.
All the guys are dressed up pretty spiffy too; gelled hair, dress shirts and pimped out bling. A man is always at his best when with a woman, and luckily for me I haven't had to deal with a bunch of idiots walking in and out of the store.
I got a ghost deck from ellusionist in about a week ago. It's awesome; but not that cool. Was it worth the money ($11.95)? No, but the coolness factor that it instills to everyone who has yet to seen it is amazing everytime. Throw in a few card tricks and they're amazed.
That's what I've been up to lately when not screwing up at work. It hasn't been bad, but I haven't played cards in months now; gonna try and play for a few hours tomorrow before I go to bed; I built a R/G Oddyessy block-ish deck with some modern twists from TS.
Still trying to get my hands on a playset of Pariahs. They were the whole reason I started buying cards again and instead I got things I just thought were cool or have always wanted. (I stopped buying again though, need to start saving for more important things like food, gas, gas, food, rent, insurrance and rent. Plus I need to save up for a car soon. I also have Resteraunt Managment Courses I need to save for, and I think I'm going to take a few courses of spanish to help in buisness in this ever growing world (even though I would reall, really like to know german fluently so I can go to germany in a few years.).
I don't know what kinds of decks you guys plays, but each of mine are "special". Everything needs to be right about them for a deck to win.
The mana base has to be right, the curve so tight that it almost snaps.
The proper amount of spells for each color in the deck needs to be perfect; so one color doesn't dominate the other unless that's the theme.
The artwork on the lands need to share a theme; not some broody lookin swamps fallowed by the happy swamps of Lorwyn. They need to fallow one theme or the other for that deck.
The sleeves need to feel right too. Are those lucky sleeves? Too bad, if I'm playin black I need skulls on my sleeves or something brutal looking.
Are some of those sleeves broken? Toss'em out. I'm not being cheated out of a win because I "cheated" by not having perfect sleeves (perfect to an extent).
The box it resides in, if it has one, should reflect the same as the sleeves.
Once all of that is right, I can start worryin how it's gonna perform. Because as long as it feels right in my hands when I shuffle, my game increases.
I always wondered if I was the only one like this, not needing to have perfect decks but having the urge for it.
It's the second part of the reason I picked up the Karplasan Forests: it didn't feel right being shuffled. And those Pincrest Ridges from Kamigawa sucked super bad.
Being a budget player at heart, it takes me a long time to get the cards I want if their hot. Luckily I'm a Johnny at heart and what I want is usually cheap. Though things like Birds of Paradise, the Pain Lands, Troll Ascetic, ect. I usually won't get unless I get them at a deal. Today I'm proud to say I've received from eBay the fallowing item:
4x Mint karplusan forest 9th
High bid ended at $8.00 and $2.00 s/h. A steal really.
Sometimes it's the little things in life that make me happy, like SNIPING AUCTIONS and GETTING DEALS.
I forgot this was here! I keep making new blogs when the only one I need is here.
Today I'll blog about Dreams. Not the kind you sleep with though.
Some of my dreams include writing great books that people will love despite what kind of story it has, lack of character development or anything else.
Included in that dream is writing books that are read very differently then those you normally would. If anyone has read House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielski (spelling needed)) you would have a great idea of what I want to achieve.
Speaking of writing I would love to be able to write an original vampire vs werewolf novel/trilogy.
Though these dreams are hindered by a very powerful force - I can't write dialog. I can describe scenery, feeling, objects, or anything else that requires an adjective, but how I get people to talk and walk at the same time is hard for me. That, and to a greater lesser extent is being lazy - but I can fix that if need be (probably if I can get past that dialog part).
Another dream of mine is to be able to play another musical instrument. I can already play piano, but I only like to play large complicated pieces, but because I usually have to memorize every line of those pieces I don't play so much anymore, instead I just review what I've learned. So I picked up a cheap beginners violin on eBay for about $50 with shipping, bought a book for about $14, and just recently bought another book for $20. The first book was a teach yourself; which I still find to be great, but without proper instruction and teaching I believe myself to be hindered and unable to proceed past my point at that instrument. I could get a teacher, but the cost for gas to travel twenty miles is too much even at once a week with how much I make.
So I'm considering getting an acoustic beginners guitar, wheres there's allot of help on and off line, and plenty of fun to be had as most people play it (if they play an instrument [at least around me they do]).
Though I could get it for about the same price as the violin I have, plus books at about the same price if not cheaper, I was also considering getting a Harmonica to play some awesome blues on. Though I'm not a blues fan, I love it on a Harmonica. Those being cheap on eBay and in large amounts I figured it'd be a good by to compliment my musical collection at the very least, plus most are pocket size so I can naturally jam out anywhere I go; either at work, the walk to work, at home, at others homes, at the park, wherever.
Though the dreams of writing and musical playing are different I only feel the later achievable; and since I don't want to look back twenty years from now and wish I had done something about my dreams I decided to blog about it. To enlighten others and myself to not let our dreams fall short, despite how small or big they may be. What's the point of living and working without the fun in between? Sure you could go out drinking every night, or once a night, but life isn't about the here and now, but rather the here and later. Have some fun now, and lots of rewards later!
I have once again been reminded on how dangerous Faith is. Faith will guide you, Faith tells you how to live your life. Faith (for some) determines how much of life is worth living.
While for others Faith serves as a weapon against people they dislike, so they rally more like minded people to shut the other side down.
Faith, for all it's worth, is a dangerous toy and shouldn't be wielded by the meek.
So then, should Priests take a test as to how well of a person they are Ethically? Nah, that won't help none.
