Hello everyone i have been playtesting this one deck i have been working on for a couple of weeks now and so far its just awesome in legacy. I call it RBG Thresh or Star-Sprangled Sui.
I recently took out a dual land and a Fledgling dragon for 2 Diving tops this has worked well in my testing so far acting as a cantrip early in the game and also has the role of a mini tutor which can make a difference in the thresh mirror. Also tops are just good against alot of matchups as well.
Solidarity:This match is favorable for you since you have cabal therapy, duress, and hymn to tourach although this might not be enough for you to win the match on its own. However you have a fast clock to aid you so this matchup won't be too bad for you. Post board however you have extirpates which can make a huge impact in this matchup for you.
Against other combo decks such as CRET belcher, iggy pop and TES: You probably have a fairly favorable matchup unless your running down with major bad luck against these three combo decks since you have plenty of disruption in the form of discard especially after boarding. You also can take out their millions of goblin tokens with a explosives or a pyroclasm. The new addition of 2 pithing needles from the sideboard also helps alot versus CRET Belcher too.
Threshold: This matchup is favorable to you since you have a bunch of discard to throw their chemistry off balance. You also have edicts to deal with their untargetable nimbles. The only thing that could be a problem would be the mystic enforcers but you have tarmogoyfs that can easily match their intensity and jittes tends to help a bunch in this matchup as well. Post board you can bring in crypts and withered wretches and perhaps extirpates of course to deal with anything that they will throw at you also pernicious deed can be pretty nice in this matchup as well.
Black Sui variants: This matchup is favorable since you have plenty of removal to deal with any threat they put on the table. You also play as much discard as them so you can also wreck their hand at the sametime. Postboard can be even better for you since you can smother their shades, hypnotics and their negators. Also pyroclasm can help some in this matchup as well.
One night before the GP columbus started which is one of the biggest legacy tournaments in the history of the format I made this one UWB fish deck just for fun for the legacy format. Then 2 days later after GP columbus finished there was a very similar fish deck to the one that i made and it placed 14th out of 883 players at GP columbus and i was very astonished to see the deck.
Here is the fish deck that i made the night before GP columbus.
By this coming december i am going to retire from playing Legacy for good. I will have played about 5 years after this december so I think it will be about time for me to move to a different area of competitive magic. I was thinking about playing in block and extended.
Here is the decks ive played in the past in legacy and have done pretty well with in the format.
UW landstill
UW Control
Funkbrew
Goblins
Solidarity
Black Suicide
Mono white angel stompy
BW angel stompy
Nevada Threshold
UGW Threshold
Mono green aggro
Sakura's Metafish
BW Pikula
I think those are all of the decks ive played throughout my legacy career. I might play a couple of more decks before i retire in December though.
See you all in the coffeehouse! Thanks for reading everyone!
Im officially announcing my retirement from legacy this coming december. But for now i am going to retire my Yoda of Legacy name that one of my playtesting Legacy buddies gave me for providing great insight on how to tweek his funkbrew deck to have better games in a more varied metagame for legacy.
Ive mentioned my retirement even before hulk flash came stomping through the legacy metagame and changing the entire format. I used to play in alot of legacy tournaments and a couple of big size ones but now I usualy dont have the time and money to play in legacy tournaments anymore of any size. I have become more interested in type 2 and extended but mostly casual though since you dont have to worry about any deck you'll face your just play to have fun. I also think it will be a good thing to move away from legacy since ive been playing the format for almost 4 years now.
This deck will probably drown in today's casual metagame but back then it was one of the top decks i have played against and played with just a little under 10 years ago in terms of either casual or competitive.
This is probably one of the coolest casual decks i ever played with. Its got removal, countermagic, and some forgotten old magic finishers like swords of the ages.
I would like to introduce to you all me and alacar's legacy deck its meant to compete at a high level in legacy and its called coffee-finement and its turning into a signature deck for the coffeehouse in the clan forums.
I mostly like RPGs because of how creative the storyline is for each story and the villians and the playability to play the game over and over again these days companies like square enix have been making less quality video games.
My top 5 RPGs are:
1. Wild ARMS alter code f
2. Final fantasy 4
3. Dragon quest 4
4. Dragon quest 7
5. Phantasy star 4
1.Wild arms alter code f
I love this game because its basically a upgraded version of the original wild arms on the playstation. The game also has the coolest and best character ever in my opinion Cecilia Lynne Adlehyde *blushes*. The game has a big expansive world and there are a ton of sidequests to the game. The game is also challenging in its own right too.
2.Final fantasy 4
In my opinion i still think this final fantasy game is the best final fantasy ever made to this day. I finished this game more then 3 times and it never seemed to get old unless i played it repeatly which i havent lately. The game is still challenging too to an extent although it was a hard game when i first played it. Also each character has their own unique skill which seperates this final fantasy from the other final fantasy games to this date.
3.Dragon quest 4
I remember when i rented this game one night. I started to play it and i couldnt put down the controller it was just so much fun. Eventually i bought the game and was able to finish it. This game is definetly a game to play if you like the dragon quest series. I also like how the game is seperated into 5 chapters which seperates this dragon quest from the others. I also think this game is the best dragon quest game ever made to this day.
4.Dragon quest 7
One of the games that i am currently playing now. I just find it pretty cool that you have to find land piece shards to piece together the world map in order to finish the game. The bosses are pretty challenging to and you have to be pretty lucky to beat them all on the first try as well. I keep putting this game off but eventually ill finish the game since its a great game.
5.Phantasy star 4
Probably one of the best games for sega genesis. Also its a really long game so it took me awhile to finish it was alot of fun to play though. The playability of playing the game again is a little better then average but i wouldnt mind picking up this title again and play to finish the game once again. I also rented this game and couldnt put down the controller until i finish the game. Ill probably continue playing this game if i ever have this game in my grasp again. Definetly a classic RPG that alot of RPG fans will truely enjoy.
Well thats it for now See you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses*
